1 Grade 1 Writing Curriculum (1 st Quarter) Draw and write about what kind of jitters or fears they had about coming to school on the first day. Assessed using the Scoring Rubric for first grade writing (See First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg Find words that begin with the letters in their own names. Create an acrostic poem. Share their poems with classmates. Students Will write about the main idea and details of a piece of text. Complete a reflective self assessment (-See Assessed using the completed Main Idea and Details table (see Word banks dictionary Reproducible Main Idea / details table Short paragraph from any story 1 Fairmont School District 89 November 2013
2 Grade 1 Writing Curriculum (2 nd Quarter) W1.3: Write narratives in which they recount 2 or more appropriately sequenced events include some details regarding what happened, use temporal words to signal event order; and provide some sense of Students will write about something they did over the weekend. Students will write one paragraph including topic sentence and wrap up sentence. Students will be assessed using the Weekend Report Rubric.
