Matrix Fitness Pre-installation Requirements Checklist Table of Contents Power requirements TV requirements TV solution options Internet requirements Configuration Options Final Checklist Appendix: Qualifier documents for Matrix Fitness Installations Appendix: Site Survey for Matrix Fitness Installations

Power Requirements Power Requirements for Matrix Fitness Equipment All Matrix Fitness treadmills and ClimbMills require power. All other cardio platforms may be self-powered depending on the console type. Matrix Fitness consoles and 7xe consoles with Virtual Active technology require power. Matrix Fitness 1, 3 and 5 series consoles can be self-powered, as can 7xe without Virtual Active technology. Power Supplies for Matrix Fitness Equipment Treadmills All treadmills require a dedicated 120V/20A circuit with a non-looped (isolated) ground. A dedicated circuit means that each outlet you plug into should not have anything else running on that same circuit. Non-looped (isolated) grounding means that each circuit must have an individual neutral/ground connection coming from it and terminating at an approved earth ground. Please refer to NEC Article ad for additional information. The power cord on the treadmills use a NEMA 5-20P plug. The treadmill receptacle must be a NEMA 5-20R receptacle. Non-Treadmill Cardio All non-treadmill cardio equipment uses a NEMA 5-15P plug. The equipment requires a 120V/15A circuit. Multiple units may be daisy-chained together, up to four units per 15A circuit. The non-treadmill cardio receptacle must use a NEMA 5-15R receptacle, or a NEMA 5-20R T-Slot receptacle. Additional Components Specific to The media gateway component for on-demand content consumes up to 1.5A. Network switches and wireless access points may require additional power. Whenever possible, wireless APs will be powered via a Power over Ethernet (PoE) port on the network switch. Consult product specs for any additional requirements on networking components.

Power Requirements International Power Requirements Coming Soon!

TV Requirements TV Cabling Requirements for Matrix Fitness Equipment For live TV on Matrix Fitness equipment, coaxial cable must be run to the machine. All cabling internal to the Matrix Fitness equipment will be supplied by Matrix Fitness. All other cabling necessary to run from a TV or internet source the be Matrix cardiovascular product must be provided by the facility. TV Cabling Requirements Matrix Fitness TVs can support ATSC, NTSC and QAM signal. Signal must be delivered to the equipment unencrypted. Coaxial cable must be a quad-shielded RG6 cable with an F-Type compression fitting. Signal strength delivered to the equipment must be +2dbmv ±2.5dbmv. Splitters or taps are acceptable for distributing signal, provided that the signal strength delivered to the equipment meets the requisite levels. Confirm with your TV provider that the signal strength at each machine is adequate. IPTV Cabling ( Only) Another option for distributing TV to fitness equipment is the IPTV. These solutions do not require a coaxial cable to be run to each machine. For IPTV installations, a Cat5e or Cat6 cable with an RJ45 connector must be present at every machine and run back to the IPTV head end system.

TV Solutions TV Solution Options for Matrix Fitness Equipment There are multiple options for presenting TV signal with Matrix Fitness equipment. Here are some options available to your facility. Set-Top Boxes With this solution, a small set top box must be installed near each individual piece of Matrix cardio equipment. Your cable company would provide the set-top box. The TV tuner on the Matrix equipment is set to Channel 3 permanently. The user would change channels via the remote control, which must be kept near the unit. Satellite Head End System A head end system works in a similar manner to an MDTA unit, with some key differences. With the head end system, a rack is installed in an AV closet. A selection of set-top-boxes is placed on the rack with each box set to a specific channel. The encrypted signal is decrypted and set to the selected channel by each set-top box. This can be digital or analog, depending on the set-top box used. A modulator device takes the signal from all of the boxes and combines it into one, allowing you to send it out to every screen in the facility. Set-Top Boxes with Console Adapter components A console adapter component redirects TV commands from a Matrix Fitness console to a set-top box without using a remote control. With this solution, a separate component is installed onto the Matrix Fitness console. When a user presses a channel command on the console, the device sends that command directly to the set-top box that is sending TV signal to that machine. Users on the Matrix Fitness equipment will use the channel buttons on the consoles as normal to select their channel. Multiple Digital to Analog (MDTA) or QAM-to-QAM (Q-to-Q) unit The device should be installed in an AV closet away from the Matrix Fitness equipment. These devices take the incoming encrypted digital signal and decrypt it, converting it into an unencrypted analog signal (MDTA) or into an unencrypted digital signal (Q-to-Q). Users on the Matrix Fitness equipment will use the channel buttons on the consoles to select their channels. Wireless Audio 900MHz (North America) and 863MHz (International) Wireless audio is a solution that does not require a screen to be connected to the Matrix Fitness cardio product. Multiple TVs can be mounted on a wall near the equipment with a transmitter connected to each. Receivers are installed on the Matrix equipment, and the user is then able to use headphones on the equipment to listen to any of the TVs that are mounted on the wall. A wireless audio qualifier sheet must be completed and submitted to Matrix Fitness to ensure proper setup of this equipment. IPTV ( Only) Another option available for equipment to receive TV signal is an IPTV solution. This requires your facility to have an IP head end system in place. TV signal is then distributed to each via a Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable instead of the standard coaxial cable. An IPTV Qualifier document must be completed and submitted to Matrix Fitness to ensure proper setup of this equipment.

Internet Requirements The Matrix Fitness 5x and 7xe platforms support a wireless internet connection to send equipment data to the Matrix Fitness Asset Management platform. The platform supports both wired and wireless internet connections to operate many of the features of the console. If you would like to connect your Matrix Fitness equipment to the internet, you will need to submit a completed technology qualifier document to Matrix Fitness. Wireless Internet 5x and 7xe Asset Management You can use either pre-installed access point or allow Matrix Fitness to install a wireless access point to support the products. At least 1.5Mbps download speed is required for a facility to function with Asset Management. 1.5Mbps will allow for any number of 5x or 7xe units to support Asset Management. A separate SSID must be added to your facility s wireless infrastructure to allow 5x and 7xe equipment to connect to the internet. Wireless Internet Requirements Only A media gateway and wireless access points must be installed prior to the cardio. Bandwidth: Matrix Fitness requires 1mb/s download speed for every four consoles. Minimum 3mbps download Example: For 16 units, 4mbps download is required; for 60 units, 15mbps bandwidth is required. A minimum 512Kbps upload speed is required for the equipment regardless of the number of machines. Wired Internet Requirements Only A media gateway must be installed prior to the cardio. Wired connections require a CAT5e or CAT6 cable with RJ45 fittings. A switch capable of receiving an internet feed from the media gateway and distributing it to all consoles must be installed. Number of machines Recommended Switch port 10/100/1000 Gigabit port 10/100/1000 Gigabit port 10/100/1000 Gigabit
