1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Department: Direct Reports: Reporting to: Director of Transformation Transformation TBC Chief Executive

2 Main Job Functions: This post is for a fixed term of 3 years. Working closely with the Chief Executive, other members of the Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees, the postholder will be accountable for the successful development and delivery of Papworth Trust s transformation programmes to ensure achievement of the organisation s strategic aims. The Director of Transformation will lead on development and delivery of a comprehensive internal and external Transformation Programme, including service, infrastructure and organisational reconfiguration, and lead the delivery of major service re-design programmes. This will include the delivery of a comprehensive programme of change that will transform the Trust s services thereby ensuring that they are strategically, financially and operationally sustainable. The post holder will provide Executive level expertise in service transformation and business change and be responsible for pan organisation projects, overall programme alignment and supporting the design and delivery of projects whilst taking Executive leadership of the Trust s Programme Management function. They will also lead the organisation s IT function, ensuring that technology is a key enabler of both organisational improvement and service transformation. Placing a particular value in the ways in which we can support disabled people to access technology in order to achieve their aspirations and potential. This post will have the responsibility for leading the implementation of the Trust s Interim Operating Model, alongside the development of the Trust s Target Operating Model. The post holder will work with colleagues across the organisation to build functionality and capability within the organisation to enable transformation and by changing expectations will deliver change which will become integral to how The Papworth Trust operates, in order to ensure an enduring culture of change and innovation.

3 Main Duties: 1. Develop and implement suitable business transformation strategies to respond to internal and external drivers, challenge existing practice and identify new and better ways of working in order to accelerate Papworth Trust towards achieving its strategic outcomes, whilst maintaining financial balance, and increasing quality and customer satisfaction. 2. Alongside and on behalf of the Leadership Team, lead the implementation of Papworth Trust s Interim Operating Model and the development of Papworth Trust s Target Operating Model. a. Development and delivery of a comprehensive internal and external Transformation Programme, including service, infrastructure and organisational reconfiguration, and lead the delivery of major service re-design programmes. b. Develop strategies that will structure services for the future that meet Papworth Trust s objectives and ensure financial and service sustainability c. Ensure that the Trust continuously seeks to improve service quality and the customer experience 3. To lead on behalf of, and in partnership with, the Leadership Team the organisational design and development. This role will be responsible for creating the blueprint for the organisation to move from the Current Operating Model, to the Interim Operating Model and then onto the Target Operating Model. a. The role will shape, deliver and embed organisational development strategies and learning to build a culture that aligns to the business values and behaviours and will achieve sustained high performance. Integral to this is the development of talent in individuals and teams, contributing to the group strategic aim of attracting, developing and inspiring skilled and enthusiastic staff who share the vision. b. Develop, communicate and implement a strategy to develop the organisation and associated plans that support our values and behaviours. This strategy will support cultural, organisation and process change and enable the delivery of new operating models and fit for purpose workforce. c. Lead the development of provision of high quality and inspirational management and leadership development initiatives, including coaching and mentoring, that will enhance current and potential capability throughout the business. d. Develop a structured approach to talent management

4 and succession planning that offer effective development for our staff and ensure long term business continuity. e. Guide and support managers in the planning and implementation of change and organisational development initiatives liaising closely with the rest of the Leadership Team as appropriate to achieve a successful shared outcome that has a positive and measurable impact on the business. f. Ensure understanding of workforce planning within the business, identify capability gaps, planning and providing for current and future learning and development needs that demonstrate value for money. 4. To plan and manage change and development in the working in conjunction with the Director of Operations in the modernisation of services, and the Directors of External Affairs and the Director of Central Services in modernising support functions to create effective and sustainable change. a. Through the development and delivery of transformation programmes demonstrate a deep understanding of the organisational development and people aspects of managing change. b. To develop a clear case for change, setting out the desired outcomes, and identifying clear roles to enable decision-making c. Support the development of effective communications and engagement strategies in relation to the transformation plans d. Ensure mechanisms are in place to enable colleagues to identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and to support business development in line with the Trust s strategy e. Establishment, management and review of Papworth Trust s Programme and Project Management processes. f. Create mechanisms that enable the post holder to monitor success of the Transformation Programme. g. Ensure appropriate allocation of project resources (financial, workforce, assets) h. Champion project management disciplines and provides the processes, structures, and tools for individual project management and program management across the transformation i. Provide a governance structure, ensuring accountability and predictability of the outcomes of each transformation initiative j. Set individual performance indicators aligned with organisational targets, holding colleagues to account and addressing underperformance issues quickly. k. Effective co-ordination of the Programme s Projects and

5 management of their inter-dependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising l. Co-ordination of any new capability for the business to enable effective change and realisation of projected benefits. m. Ensure all Trust projects identify clear outcome measures and have a robust benefit realisation plan. n. Planning and designing the Transformation Programme and proactively monitoring its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate o. Defining the Transformation Programme's governance arrangements 5. Develop and deliver Papworth Trust s IT strategy, delivering innovative solutions to enhance the organisation s technology capability. a. Ensuring that appropriate IT support is provided to the organisation. b. Ensure that technology is a key enabler of both organisational improvement and service transformation. Main Duties as a result of being a director: 6. As a Director, shape the strategic direction of the organisation in order to achieve its vision and contribute to the development of the organisation s strategic and annual business plans. 7. Act as an effective director within the corporate governance framework, and demonstrate the values and behaviours of the organisation. 8. Ensure that the Papworth Trust meets its statutory and legislative obligations. 9. Act as an advocate and spokesperson for the Papworth Trust, internally, externally and in the media. 10. As a Director, play an active and collaborative role in the effective management and achievement of the Outcomes of the Papworth Trust, recognising the significant impact that the Papworth Trust s services has on many people and services within the community. 11. Provide expert leadership in developing and implementing a culture of service excellence, working to embed the standards,

6 behaviours and strategies needed to bring about lasting improvements in service delivery in all business areas. 12. Monitor, coach, support, motivate and develop team members to enable them to deliver to the best of their ability. 13. Identify and nurture talent across the organisation and play an active role in succession planning and people development initiatives. 14. Ensure compliance with equality legislation, and display an active commitment to the need to ensure equality of opportunity and the benefits of diversity. 15.
