5 1 Introduction Ready to watch Netflix on your TV? The PC to TV converter is just what you needed. You can now experience all of your computer s entertainment on your television including music, video, and photos. 7 3 Installation Setup 1. Connect Composite RCA or S-Video cable to the converter and then to the TV. Take note of the name of the connection that is labeled on your TV (AV1, AV2) as this will be used later. 2. Connect the VGA (15-pin) for video and USB for power. 3. Flip both of the white switches on the converter down for NTSC (America). 4. Go to display settings on your computer and set the screen resolution to a supported resolution (1024x768 is recommended). 5. Set the TV to the correct input. This would be the connection labeled from when you plugged the cable into the TV. You can change this by pressing

8 TV/video, input, or source button on your TV or Remote Control. 6. (Optional) Connect a VGA cable (sold separately) to an external monitor to see the same display as on the TV. 7. (Optional) If you purchased an optional audio cable, connect it between the headphone jack of your computer to the red and white connection on your TV. Otherwise the audio will play through your computer speakers 4

9 5 Video Signal Output Laptops sometimes require an additional step. Some do not automatically output a video signal. This is easily remedied. All laptops have hotkeys which can enable an external display. Each brand varies. But they all require pressing and holding FN and a key on the top row of the keyboard. As you can see in the picture to the right, this laptop uses F5. Check your computer user manual to find what your laptop uses.

10 Press and hold FN and press the correct key for your laptop to output a signal. You should then see your laptop screen on your TV. Windows 7 uses the Windows logo and P pressed at the same time. 6

11 7 Troubleshooting Pulling your hair out? Nothing on the TV? Ready to give up? Here are some tips to help. I can t find where to change the resolution!! Windows XP: Click on Control Panel > Display (in the Appearance and Themes category) Windows Vista / 7: Appearance and Personalization > Adjust Screen resolution. Mac OSX Click on System Preferences > Displays. The image is scrolling. What do I do? Normally, this is caused by the screen resolution being set too high. Go into the screen resolution settings and make sure it is set to one listed in the supported resolutions. Also, make sure both switches are flipped down on the converter.

12 I cannot locate my computer hotkeys. Each laptop should have hotkeys. Windows 7 has a default of the Windows key and P. The most common hotkeys for the VGA connection are F4, F5, and F8. Otherwise, check in your computer user manual or contact your computer manufacturer to locate them. There are no icons or start menu on the TV. This is a mode of your computer known as extended mode. Your computer is treating the TV as a second screen allowing you to run separate programs on the TV and computer screen. You can drag Windows to the right of your main screen and they will appear on the TV screen. Otherwise, go to the screen settings, click on the box with the number 2, uncheck Extend desktop, click apply, and then follow the output video section. 8

13 9 I can t hear anything on the TV! This converter does not process audio, and sound will play from your computer speakers. If you would like to get audio on the TV you can purchase a separate audio cable like the SW If you have an audio cable, make sure it is plugged into the headphone jack on your computer and that the red and white ends are connected to the same input as the video on your TV. Next, make sure the audio is turned up and not muted on your TV, computer, and the application you are running. I can only see color bars on my TV. The converter outputs a test signal of color bars to make sure the converter has power and is setup to work. It is only missing a signal from the VGA connection from the computer. Make sure you set your resolution to one supported and then try your hotkeys to output a video signal.

14 10 The TV screen is still black First, double check all the connections. Make sure you have both the 15 pin VGA and the USB connected to the computer. Make sure your TV is on the correct input. Verify that your screen resolution is one supported by the converter. Try outputting video again through using your computer s hotkeys. Still need help?
