3 So, You Decided to Marry Since 1970 Cathedral of Hope has been marrying loving couples and, since 2005 the United Church of Christ has supported Equal Marriage Rights for all. Cathedral of Hope treats all persons with respect and dignity and believes that the essence of marriage is a covenanted commitment that has its foundation in the faithfulness of God s love. In marriage, the church adds the blessing of the faith community and invokes God's blessing on the covenant established by the couple. We celebrate that the state of Texas, and The United States of America, now accord equal recognition to all married couples. Cathedral of Hope is a Christian congregation of the United Church of Christ, and weddings may be conducted by one our ministers or other ministers who are approved by our Senior Pastor. We celebrate Christian or Christian interfaith weddings in the Cathedral of Hope Sanctuary. The Interfaith Peace Chapel is a place where people of all faiths, or no faith, can participate in dialogue, meditation and prayer. This beautiful space, designed by award-winning and world-renowned architect Philip Johnson, inspires people to join voices, hearts, and minds in order to build interfaith understanding and celebrate religious diversity. Therefore, we celebrate religious, spiritual, faith, or non-faith weddings in the Interfaith Peace Chapel Sanctuary. Providing wedding services is very important to us. Our goal is to provide both the personnel and the setting which will uphold the sacredness of God and magnify the joy that characterizes all Christian worship, most especially the service of Christian marriage. Our pastors and staff are committed to helping make your special day beautiful and meaningful. We are dedicated to providing sincere and helpful assistance during the entire process from setting the date to celebrating your wedding. Scheduling a Wedding at Cathedral of Hope Cathedral of Hope facilities are used for many different ministries, meetings and special events. It is therefore necessary to plan your wedding well in advance to ensure that the building is available. 1. To schedule a wedding begin by contacting our Event Coordinator/Liaison, at marriage@cathedralofhope.com or to confirm available date. 2. Your wedding will be confirmed when your signed contract and damage deposit is received. Please do not print announcements or invitations until your wedding has been confirmed! 3

4 Wedding Packages You are not required to purchase a Wedding Package to plan a wedding. The Packages are listed for your convenience and do not include personal flowers, decorations, reception area, videotaping, photography, tables, linens, altar decoration or an accompanist unless otherwise stated. All clergy honorariums are to be paid directly to the clergy. Base Clergy rates start at $250 for onsite weddings but increase based on other services provided (i.e., counseling, rehearsal, etc.). Base Clergy rates for offsite weddings start at $350 but increase based on travel and special days requested for ceremony to be performed. Walk-In Wedding in the Sanctuary or Interfaith Peace Chapel Package Price is $ Fee includes: 30 minutes Sanctuary-only rental - No rehearsal Simple Wedding in the Sanctuary or Interfaith Peace Chapel (30 guests and under)- Package Price is $ damage deposit $ Fee includes: One-hour Sanctuary-only rental. No rehearsal. Simple Wedding with Reception in the Sanctuary (100 guests and under) - Package Price is $ damage deposit $ Fee includes: 2-hour Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall rental. No rehearsal. Package includes: 2 36 round tables with black linen. 2 Tall boy cocktail tables with black linen. Must use altar space as is no alterations for space Simple Wedding with Reception in the Interfaith Peace Chapel (80 guests and under)- Package Price is $ damage deposit $ Fee includes: 2-hour rental for wedding and reception. No rehearsal. Package includes: 2 36 round tables with black linen. 2 Tall boy cocktail tables with black linen. 1 IPC only - Altar with black linen and candelabras (you may bring dripless candles) Sanctuary Wedding (80 guests and over) - Package Price is $ damage deposit $ Fee includes: 3-hour Sanctuary rental and one-hour rehearsal prior to the wedding date. Package includes: Two dressing rooms Personal florals may be used but all other religious items must remain in place Security is required for gatherings over 150 and must be contracted through Cathedral of Hope Not Included 4

5 Sanctuary Wedding with Reception (80 guests and over)- Package Price is $ damage deposit $ Fee includes: 4-hour Sanctuary & Fellowship Hall rental and one-hour rehearsal prior to the wedding date. Package includes: Fellowship Hall use of buffets, tables and seating for guest Kitchen use Cold prep/plating only. No cooking Facilities/Wedding Liaison add l hourly rate may apply based on service requested Two dressing rooms Personal florals may be used but all other religious items must remain in place Security is required for gatherings over 150 and must be contracted through Cathedral of Hope Not Included Interfaith Peace Chapel (up to 150 guests) - Package Price is $ damage deposit $ Fee includes: 3-hour Chapel rental and one-hour rehearsal prior to the wedding date. Package includes: Facilities/Wedding Liaison add l hourly rate may apply based on service requested Standard portable Bose sound system Standard house lighting day of event only Two dressing rooms Personal florals may be used but all other religious items must remain in place Security is required for gatherings over 150 and must be contracted through Cathedral of Hope Not Included Interfaith Peace Chapel with Cocktail Reception - Package Price is $ damage deposit $ Fee includes: 4-hour Building Rental, Sanctuary space with seating for up to 150, One-hour rehearsal prior to the wedding date Package includes: 4-6 rectangle tables 2 high boy cocktail tables and 8 white bar stools Facilities/Wedding Liaison Standard portable Bose sound system Standard house lighting day of event only Two dressing rooms Personal florals may be used but all other religious items must remain in place Security - required for gatherings over 150 and/or all gatherings that serve alcohol and must be contracted through Cathedral of Hope 5

6 Additional Services and Furnishings (Not Included in Package Pricing) Musician, Clergy Services, and other Religious Services ALL ARRANGEMENTS FOR COH CLERGY AND COH MUSICIANS MUST BE MADE THROUGH THE WEDDING LIAISON Vocalist: $250.00* Organist/Pianist: $250.00** Other Instrumentalists Fees start at $ but can increase based on instrument Lay Ministers of Worship: $75.00 per person participating in service (procession of religious items Changing of Paraments: $ per wedding (Cathedral of Hope Sanctuary only) Clergy Services: Honorarium is paid directly to Clergy by client. White Garden Chairs 100 available at $10/chair if used in Fellowship Hall Green Cushioned Chairs 100 available at $15/chair if used in Interfaith Peace Chapel Cleaning Services - $250 mandatory per event over $ Linen Rental $22.50/ea. Additional Lighting and Sound Packages * ALL ARRANGMENTS FOR COH MEDIA PACKAGES MUST BE MADE THROUGH THE WEDDING LIAISON Discounted special lighting and audio/visual packages are available and begin at $55.00 per hour with a 4-hour minimum and increase based on the functionality requested. 7 Special Event/Wedding Guidelines and Optional Pricing The policies listed are not intended to prohibit building usage but rather to ensure the safety of those using our facilities as well as to protect the church in areas of liability, to prevent unauthorized usage and to assure that our facilities remain in good condition. RESERVATIONS: Reservations are not complete until the client signs the agreement, pays the fee in full, and a representative of the Cathedral of Hope, UCC signs the Agreement. A reservation can only be booked by or by speaking in person or on the telephone with the Cathedral of Hope, United Church of Christ, Director of Facilities or the Event Coordinator. Reservations are not accepted via voic . A reservation is considered accepted with a damage deposit and a signed contract. All checks will be deposited. Should a check be returned, there will be check charge of $35 and the event will be removed from the calendar. The deadline for final payment of rental fee, as well as any setup and cleanup fees, is two (2) weeks prior to the event. If final payment is not received, your reservation will be cancelled. All rentals include the use of available seating in building rented. The curfew for the campus is 10:00PM. Required clean-up and removal of all personal items must be completed by curfew time and within the time rented. GENERAL INFORMATION: The Fellowship Hall is available for the following: Wedding Receptions Sacramental Receptions Anniversary - Birthday Parties Private Parties (with approval of the Director of Facilities) Family Reunions Showers (Bridal or Baby) Organization Meetings Funeral Receptions Other events with prior approval All other meeting spaces and class rooms are flexible spaces that will accommodate various meeting setups. Cathedral of Hope meeting spaces are not available for the following: Fund-raisers of organizations outside the church Political functions/events Scheduled church activities take precedence over any/all rentals 7

8 A LA CARTE FEES: Sanctuary (CoH and IPC) charges are as follows: (limit of 800 guests-coh and 175-IPC) Rental Fee Setup Fee Damage Deposit Event Security $ for four (4) hours or $ per hour up to 8 hours. Rates for events lasting longer than 8 hours or events covering both buildings will be determined at contract discussion. $ minimum $ mandatory $ no alcohol allowed in Cathedral of Hope sanctuary space $45.00 per hour 4- hour minimum. Event security is required with all events that have an attendance of 150 or more and/or serve alcohol - 4- hour minimum Fellowship Hall charges are as follows: (limit of 200 guests) Rental Fee Setup Fee Damage Deposit Event Security $ for four (4) hours. $ for each additional hour (includes onsite staff) $75.00 per hour prior to the event $ mandatory $ alcohol, $ without alcohol (Refundable deposit retuned if no damage is found) $45.00 per hour 4- hour minimum. Event security is required with all events that have an attendance of 150 or more and/or serve alcohol - 4- hour minimum Chapel/Meeting Rooms charges are as follows: Rental Fee Cleanup Fee $400 for four (4) hours $60 for each additional hour (includes facilities onsite staff) $100 **Mandatory fee Damage Deposit $200 alcohol, $100 - no alcohol (Refundable. Event Security Deposit returned if no damage is found) Event security is required with all events that serve alcohol. Security is $45.00/hour with a 4-hour event minimum. 8

9 A LA CARTE FEES continued: Audio/Visual/Sound Fees Basic Sound -- $ ($55.00 per hour with a 4-hour minimum). CD playback and microphone for clergy member only Basic Sound with Microphone usage - $ (up to 3 microphones, additional microphones extra) Video Recording and Basic Sound with Microphone - $ (Sound, Locked camera recording,) ** Video Recording and Basic Sound with Microphone - $ (Sound, Locked camera recording stationary positioning, with video on screens) ** Video Recording, Sound Tech with Microphones - $ (Sound, Moveable camera recording zooming in and out, etc., 3 camera operators, with video on screens) ** ** includes sound tech and video producer attending dress rehearsal EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE USAGE: The sound system is available for rental use and must be booked through CoH Event Coordinator or Director of Facilities. Hired DJ s should provide own sound system. Do not allow anyone to sit on tables. Do not slide tables and chairs across the floor. **There will be an additional charge for furniture damage. $150 per table All items rented or provided by renter are the sole responsibility of the renter. CoH assumes no responsibility for taking delivery of any items on behalf of renter. All items must be picked up or taken away on the day of the event. Storage fees will be accessed if no arrangements are made. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: REQUIRES PRIOR APPROVAL - When alcoholic beverages are served at non-church related activities, the renter is responsible for preventing abuses and prohibiting consumption by a minor. This means that no bar, champagne fountain etc. can be left unattended. Supervision of the distribution of alcohol shall be made to avoid anyone becoming intoxicated. Proof of TABC permit is required for those serving alcohol. Should anyone drink in excess, the renter will be responsible for ensuring that person does not drive and the renter of the function will be responsible to provide transportation home for that person.. Neither Cathedral of Hope, or its employees, nor the United Church of Christ or its employees, are responsible for any loss of property, or accident, or injury caused or sustained by anyone, as a result of consuming alcoholic beverages on church grounds. YOU WILL BE LIABLE for any accidents or injury resulting from misconduct by yourself or any guest who has consumed too much alcohol. 9

10 DECORATIONS: No nails or tape may be used on walls or ceiling to hang or support decorations and signs. Other decorations must be free standing or self-sufficient. You may not remove any items from any areas. Any damages or changes to the original condition of the walls or ceiling will result in additional fees accessed upon the extent of the damage. Candle use must be approved prior to the event. FLOATING CANDLES, RICE, BIRDSEED, ROSE PETALS AND DECORATIVE CONFETTI ARE NOT ALLOWED, INSIDE OR OUT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. IF CANDLES IN VASES ARE USED, ANY BREAKAGE THAT OCCURS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE DEPOSIT TO BE FORFEITED. The use of bells or bubbles is permitted. It is the renter s responsibility to clean up and dispose of left over debris regardless of the weather conditions. Decorations for couple s departure car must not result in any parking lot and/or grounds trash or damage. KITCHEN USE: The kitchen is available for catered events but the ovens and stove are not available for cooking without permission from the Director of Facilities. Please discuss your needs with Director of Facilities or the Event Coordinator when you place your deposit. Only prep areas, microwave, ice machine and sinks can be used. All pots, pans and utensils are church property and not for general use. The renter is responsible for providing their own cleaning products and dish towels. Caterers are welcome to come and inspect the kitchen prior to the event. KITCHEN RULES: The stove and oven are to be cleaned after each use, including the grease pan under the grill. Empty food strainers in waste containers before leaving and remove garbage. CoH does not provide any cups, plates, napkins, serving ware, pots, pans or other kitchen items. The kitchen, all equipment and floor should be left clean and in proper order. SMOKING: No smoking or use of any tobacco products is allowed inside any of the church buildings. If you or your guests are smoking outside, it must be done in the designated smoking area east of the kitchen entrance. The renter is responsible for any cleanup of the area. 10

11 DEPOSIT RETURN: For deposit return or refund the following must be observed: Pre-inspection by Director of Facilities/Facilities Staff/Event Coordinator with booking party Post-inspection by Director of Facilities/Facilities Staff/Event Coordinator with booking party Refund will be returned 7-10 days after the event If the event will need to be cancelled prior to your event date, your deposit and any paid fees will be returned if the Director of Facilities/Event Coordinator is notified in writing within 10 days of the scheduled event, otherwise the designated cancellation fee listed in the sections above will be assessed. Please understand the booking party is responsible for any damages that occur during the event. Damages will be assessed and subtracted from your deposit. You will be liable and responsible for any additional damage charges. The return of your deposit is also dependent upon the final condition of the space. Cathedral of Hope, UCC is not responsible for any personal belongings and equipment left, lost or stolen during and after an event, and holds no liability for anyone injured on the property during the time you occupy the building and grounds. CHURCH RENTAL RULES: All children must be supervised at all times while in church buildings and on church property. No children under the age of 12 permitted in the kitchen. No pets allowed. No sporting goods equipment, balls, Frisbees, etc. allowed inside the building. No smoking or tobacco products allowed inside buildings. Smoking in designated smoking area only which is 100 feet from the main entrance. Keep doors closed to retain chilled or heated air. Clean up spills. All trash must be bagged and placed in large trash receptacle outside of kitchen. All leftover food and beverages must be removed from refrigerator and freezer at the end of the event. All personal belongings and those items brought in by the booking party (anything not belonging to the church) must be removed after the event has ended. Be aware that other Church functions may be conducted simultaneously with your rental. User is responsible to see that members of his/her party do not intrude upon those functions and that guest decorum is considerate of those functions. 11
