1 Just Takes 2 Unit 20 Blocks 79, 80 and 81 Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts Square in a Square Your unfinished blocks should measure 3 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches NOTE: You are making Square in a Square THREE times! These instructions are for making Three Square in a Square blocks Cut for Three Blocks Background (white) Cut three 2.5 in Color (red) Cut six 3 inch squares and cross cut on one diagonal for the four corner triangles Assemble Stitch two triangles on opposite sides of the white square and press seam allowance toward outside Stitch the other two triangles and press Trim blocks to 3.5 inches Repeat the above three steps two more times for a total of three blocks These instructions assume you have a basic quilting knowledge. Cut four rectangles 2 X 4 inches Cut one square 8 inches Cut one square 10 inches Applique Block Draw the pattern on the back of your background fabric Baste the four corner melons and applique Baste the little puzzle piece in the center Reverse applique the center circle Applique the puzzle piece Remember to clip those curves! Trim block to 9 1/2 X 9 1/2 inches This line should measure 1 after printing pattern instructions section at Sentimental Stitches and in the Dear Jane Software.
