Code No. : Entry Qualification : Passed 1 2 th class examination under 10+2 system of education with Biology or its equivalent. Duration of Apprenticeship Training : One Year including six month Basic Training under CTS. Rebate in Apprenticeship Training : Six month for ITI/ITC passed out trainees In the trade of Floriculture and Landscaping. Ratio of Apprentice to Workers : 1:5 3
4 Syllabus for the Trade of Florist & Landscaper Under Apprenticeship Training Scheme Duration of Training : One year 1 st six month :- During 1 st six month the apprentices will undergo the syllabus same as CTS for the trade of Floriculture and Landscaping. Next six month :- The apprentices will undergo shop floor training in the related establishment (Industry) as per the under mentioned syllabus. SL. NO. PRACTICAL 1 Introduction to the industry and the activities. 2 Knowledge about Tools and equipments utilized in the industry in floriculture and landscape 3 Propagation media, preparation of nursery and planting beds, sterilization of beds etc. 4 Propagation of ornamental plants. 5 Manures, fertilizers, bio fertilizers and plant growth hormones in production. 6 Identification of ornamental plants 1. Indoor and bonsai plants 2. Special horticultural practices. 3. Package of practices for cultivations. 7 Nursery and seed production 1. identification of seeds 2. seed treatment and viability 3. methods of seed sowing 4. potting, de-potting and repotting of plants. 8 Knowledge about propagating materials their harvesting and storing etc. Preparing of Nursery plants by various vegetative methods & their maintenance 9 Procedure for propagating methods. Preparation of roots stocks and grafts. 10 Harvesting of seeds 4
5 11 Pinching, disbudding, training, pruning and application of plant growth regulators. 12 Knowledge about Bonsai plants, containers and methods of making, preserving, watering, disease and pest, packing etc. Grading of container grown plants. Studying packing of seed, seedlings, rooted cuttings pot plants, Lawn grass, Trees,, Shrubs Cacti, Bonsai. Knowledge about different types of boxes used for packing. 13 Commercial flower production 1.Commercial verities 2. Preparation of beds. 3. Package of practices for cultivation. 4. Special horticulture practices. 5. Post harvest handling practices. 6. Enhance shelf life. 14 Commercial protected cultivation 1. Bed preparation 2. Climate control 3. Cultivation practices. 15 Knowledge about landscaping & indoor Gardening practices 1. Visits, surveying and drafting. 2. Preparation and execution of landscape plants. 3. Maintenance of gardens and lawns. 4. Accessories and containers for Flower arrangements. 5. Floral arrangement. Preparation of floral ornaments, bouquets etc. 6. Preparation of bottle gardens, terrarium etc. 7. Maintenance and recycling of indoor pot plants. 16 Revision and test 5
6 TRADE THEORY Procedure of production of floriculture crops in the greenhouse environment. Scheduling and controlling crop growth for target market periods. Specific flowering crops will be grown to demonstrate potted flowering plant, cut flower, and garden plant production. List and describe procedural steps necessary during floriculture crop production from propagation to marketing. Identify and define environmental factors that regulate growth and flowering of floriculture crops. Develop production schedules for floriculture crops. Identify and name some floriculture crops and classify them as potted, cut and/or garden crops. Concept of essentiality of plant nutrients, their critical concentrations in plants, nutrient interactions, diagnostic techniques. Landscaping objectives and scope, aesthetic theories and principles of space establishment; site survey, analysis and appraisal; Landform design and grading; Drainage design; Planting design principles and practice; History of landscape design; Landscape application in gardens, indoor landscaping, terrace gardening, industrial landscaping, landscaping of residential areas and urban avenues; Surface treatments, landscape elements of construction; Computer application in Landscape. Multi-criteria landscape evaluation and plant selection techniques. 6
