1 SKILL-BUILDING SEMINAR: Addressing Summer Melt 2016 NCCEP/GEAR UP CAPACITY-BUILDING WORKSHOP 1
2 Addressing Summer Melt Session Description: High school seniors have the best of intentions at the end of their final year when it comes to attending college in the fall. Unfortunately, many of them never make it to campus. What actually happens between HS graduation, freshmen orientation and the first day of classes? What can we do to address this trend? Members of this panel will discuss the challenges many of our students and families face when considering the reality of actually attending college as well as strategies their programs and campuses have used to ensure the successful enrollment of their students. Facilitators: Stephanie Carnahan Angela Jackson Director of Oregon State Gear Up Associate Director Hawaii P-20 Partnership for Education and Hawaii State Gear Up Lilia Tanakeyowma Dean of Student Affairs Santa Ana College Lynette D. Bates Director, TRIO: Classic Upward Bound University of New Orleans 2016 NCCEP/GEAR UP CAPACITY-BUILDING WORKSHOP 2
