The Personal Essay should be one page ( words) and address the following: Personal and family background Research interests Importance of research to attain your professional goals Eligibility and Selection Criteria In order to apply to the SF2UF Bridge Program and to qualify for funding, students must: Be enrolled fulltime in a degree track at SF in a field related to the biomedical or behavioral sciences Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 and a minimum GPA of 2.5 in critical tracking courses Plan to transfer to the University of Florida into a biomedical or behavioral sciences- related major Be a first- time college student Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent legal resident In addition, eligible students must meet at least one of the following criteria: 1. Member of at least one of the following racial or ethnic groups shown by the National Science Foundation to be underrepresented in health- related sciences on a national basis: African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Hawaiian Natives, and natives of the US Pacific Islands. 2. Individual with a disability, defined as having a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. 3. Individual who has completed the FAFSA, comes from a family with an annual income below the relevant low- income threshold (as adjusted by the Secretary for Health and Human Services), and has an estimated family contribution less than the cost of attendance.
