79 Chinese New Year Addition Game Materials: Addend number cards (on next page), sum number cards (on next pages), and up to 20 small objects for counting. Directions: Print the addend and sum number cards on the next pages and cut them out. Print the Chinese New Year addition board. You may wish to laminate both the number cards and the Chinese New Year addition board for greater durability. Have your child select an addend number card and place it in the left addend box on the board. Have your child count out that number of objects and place them on the board. Have your child select a second addend number card and place it in the right addend box on the board. Have your child count out that number of objects and place them on the board. Have your child calculate the total number of objects. 85 Chinese New Year Subtraction Game Materials: White minuend and subtrahend cards, yellow difference cards, and 20 small objects for counting. Directions: Print and cut the white and yellow number cards on the next pages. Print the Chinese New Year Subtraction Game playing board. You may wish to laminate both the number cards and the Chinese New Year Subtraction Game playing board for greater durability. To play, have your child select two of the white number cards. Your child should put the greater number in the left minuend box and the lesser number in the middle subtrahend box. Then, have your child count out objects equal to the number in the left minuend box and place them on the game board. Next, have your child take away objects equal to the number in the right subtrahend box. Finally, have your child find the yellow difference card that represents the number of objects remaining. Your child should place the yellow difference card in the difference box to the right of the equals sign.
