1 RESEARCH AND ENTERPRISE DIVISION The Post Relationship Manager (Three Posts) Ref: ALC645 University of East Anglia (UEA) is looking to appoint three Relationship Managers to help instigate new and develop existing opportunities for partnerships with private, public and third sector organisations. The post will increase the levels of knowledge exchange, impact, enterprise and engagement within their target areas of: Medical and Life Sciences; Business, Financial and Legal Services; and Marine, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Working closely with academics to identify and promote key research capabilities and develop strong external networks you will connect the University s capabilities with external partners needs. Candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the needs of external organisations, with a good knowledge of current challenges in the sector and the associated research themes. The precise duties will be agreed in discussion with the Manager. Person Specification The person specification for this post is attached as Appendix B. GENERAL Salary Salary will be 40,523 to 46,924 per annum on Grade 8 on the single salary spine. The normal expectation is that starting salary will be at the minimum of the advertised salary scale.

2 Starting Date The posts are available immediately on a full-time, indefinite basis. Terms and Conditions of Appointment Full details of terms and conditions of employment for Administrative Staff will be made available to the candidate to whom the appointment is offered. Relocation Expenses Relocation expenses are reimbursable under certain conditions. Residence The University is strongly committed to providing an excellent student experience and research environment, and it is expected that all staff will be available on campus to carry out their duties during the working week in support of these goals. Absences for significant periods are by agreement with the Head of School or Head of Division. Annual Leave Entitlement There is an annual holiday entitlement of six weeks plus statutory (8 days) and customary (6 days) holidays. Superannuation The post is superannuable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme. Proof of Qualifications The person specification for this post lists qualifications that are essential and/or desirable and you may hold some or all of these qualifications. 5 APPENDIX A JOB DESCRIPTION REF: ALC645 Role Title: School/Division: Relationship Manager Research and Enterprise Services (REN) Grade: 8 Responsible to: Head of Enterprise Role Function/Purpose: To fulfil the role of promoting knowledge exchange and service provision from the world-class research, services and expertise of UEA to external organisations of all kinds. The objective will be to reinforce existing and establish new relationships outside the HE Sector to increase the levels of knowledge exchange, generation of impact, licensing, consultancy, graduate careers and funded research. The postholder will raise the awareness of knowledge exchange, enterprise and engagement opportunities amongst organisations within their allocated sector and broker/support collaborations as appropriate, working with relevant external bodies, UEA academics and other REN staff. Duties and Responsibilities: Analyse and engage with UEA s academic community on the development of its offering to prospective private, public and not-for-profit partners in relevant sector. Actively seek out, define and deliver opportunities for UEA amongst prospective partners by, for example: - Proactively contacting organisations to build a pipeline of targeted partners. - Matching UEA know-how, technology, staff, students and other assets to identified external needs; working closely with Associate Deans for Enterprise and Associate Deans for Research, other relationship development services at, and associated with, UEA and colleagues across REN. - Identifying, arranging and producing regular events for key UEA audiences to build the partnership pipeline and showcase UEA offerings. - Attending appropriate events to promote UEA, establish new contacts and reinforce existing relationships. Develop and maintain a comprehensive overview of business support networks and funding opportunities relevant to UEA s knowledge exchange, enterprise and engagement agenda. Write/support funding applications and business plans and, where appropriate, support/be directly involved in management and delivery. This will include supporting any Research Council funded Impact Accelerator Accounts.

6 Relationship Managers will each be allocated an appropriate sector, key clients and also be targeted to provide specific support for UEA Faculties. Within this framework they will be expected to work flexibly within a team and collectively prioritise work to lead on strategic opportunities, capitalise on special skills or experience and cover periods of absence or high demand. To provide a point of contact to key identified strategic partners to assist in any of their interactions with UEA. Work to and report on performance targets agreed with the Head of Enterprise. To undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time. In undertaking these duties Relationship Managers are expected to develop an indepth appreciation of both the academic discipline, ethos and culture of the areas they are supporting and the requirements of external organisations active in these areas. They will also be expected to work very closely with Research and Enterprise Managers, Project Officers, Intellectual Property Managers and marketing staff in supporting proposals and projects.
