1 Creative Problem Solving & Analytical Thinking OVERVIEW: Creative problem solving and analytical thinking helps you to take on a leadership role that embeds a culture for success. The approach and thought processes you and your team take, affect every facet of the organisation. The global market is accelerating rapidly and demands creative problem solving and analytical thinking techniques to keep abreast. Participants will be encouraged to think analytically with emphasis on the thought processes that will enhance their ability to think and plan in a manner consistent with their organisations strategy. 1

2 LEARNING OBJECTIVES: On completion of this workshop, participants should be able to: Explore the Analytical Thinking Process Identify the barriers to effective Analytical Thinking Implement Analytical Thinking in their daily lives Analyse problems and use creative thinking methodologies to solve them Identify the barriers to effective problem-solving and decision-making Outline solutions and alternatives to problems Involve employees in making decisions by expanding their thinking PROGRAMME OUTLINE: Topics to be covered over the two days include: Defining the meaning of creative thinking and problem-solving Understanding the part that self-confidence plays in creative problem solving Identifying and developing key elements for improvement in decision-making and problem-solving skills Exploring ways in which to unleash your creative thinking ability Developing an approach for transfer of learning back to the workplace Defining of Analytical Thinking: What it is and what it s not Understanding the various types of Analytical Thinking concepts: Field Independence, Logic, Reasoning and Critique Identifying the difference between the various types of Analytical Thinking concepts Developing and implementing new approaches into workplace and private-life 2

4 WORKSHOP FORMAT & METHODOLOGY: A number of creative thinking methodology exercises would be utilised to engage the participants thought processes. This experiential approach would assist participants in developing their individual ability to thinking analytically. They are as follows: ü Field Independence ü Logic ü Reasoning ü Critique The training methodology for this workshop will utilise a comprehensive set of techniques that emphasize participation and interactive learning in an adult learning environment as well as encourage teamwork. These techniques may involve: ü Lecturettes ü Experiential Exercises ü Individual and group activities ü Manuals and hand-outs ü Discussions and sharing of experiences ü The utilisation of case studies 4

5 FACILITATOR S BIO-SKETCH: ANTHONY RAGOONANAN Anthony Ragoonanan is the Principal Trainer for V-Formation Training and Development, with core skills that include Communication, Sales, Customer Service and Management. Mr. Ragoonanan is dedicated to empowering people with the skills to make a difference in their organisation, their society and their lives. His primary goal is to address the competence related needs affecting companies today so that employees can deliver measurable results. His purpose is to not only make an impact but to make a difference by developing and challenging staff to achieve top performance not only as individuals but as part of a team. With over 15 years in the sales environment, having worked for both local and international firms, he has had experience on the front line, in sales as well as a trainer and manager. His experience has also exposed him to several distribution companies, health care professionals, hospitals and service companies in the Caribbean region where he gained first-hand experience in learning how companies run their businesses, develop their people and maintain their corporate culture. During his time at Abbott Nutrition International, Anthony led the Southern Caribbean team to achieve Sales Team of the Year in 2007 and His successful performance was also recognized when he was named Manager of the Year in Mr. Ragoonanan possesses a Bachelor of Sciences degree (University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada) and an MBA (Andrew s University, Berrien Springs, Michigan, 2008).
