1 State of California Spring 2007 DIRECTORY Publicly Funded ALCOHOL & OTHER DRUG TREATMENT and RECOVERY PROGRAMS for WOMEN with CHILDREN in CALIFORNIA COUNTIES Publication No. (ADP) Resource Center State of California Alcohol and Drug Programs 1700 K Street First Floor Sacramento, CA (800) (California Only) (916) FAX: (916) TTY: (916) Internet: ResourceCenter@adp.ca.gov

2 ABOUT THIS DIRECTORY This is a directory of publicly funded programs that provide alcohol and other drug recovery and treatment services for California women and their children. The directory was developed with the goal of including all alcohol and other drug treatment and recovery programs that receive Perinatal State General Funds, Perinatal Drug Medi- Cal funds, or federal Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant funds that are set-aside specifically for treatment services for women and their children. There are programs in California that serve women and their children but do not receive these funds. For a complete list of all alcohol and other drug treatment or recovery programs, see the Department of Alcohol and Drug Program s (ADP) Treatment Works, available from ADP s Resource Center at , or access our website at All of the programs are listed alphabetically by county. The service modalities available at each location are shown directly below the program name. A listing and explanation of the modalities is on the following page. These listings are based on information submitted to the Department from each county for state fiscal year 2005/2006. For current year information for programs that receive perinatal funds, contact the local county alcohol and drug program administrator. A list of county administrators is included at the back of this directory in Appendix A. These programs provide women-specific services for treatment and recovery from alcohol and other drug addictions, along with diverse supportive services. For specific information regarding perinatal services, please refer to ADP s Perinatal Services Network Guidelines (Fall, 1997). For additional information about treatment and recovery services available in a specific county, see the listing (Appendix A) at the back of the directory. If you would like information about ADP, please contact the Resource Center or access our website at The last page of the directory (Appendix B) can be used to notify the Department of changes. We appreciate the sharing of information so that we may provide the most accurate directory possible. It is our hope that this directory will become a valuable resource tool in an effort to make appropriate services available to the women and children of California.

3 SERVICE MODALITIES CASE MANAGEMENT A participant-centered, goal oriented process for assessing the needs of an individual for particular services; assisting her in obtaining those services; and reviewing participant accomplishments, outcomes and barriers to completing recovery goals. Case management may be either an element of a recovery and treatment modality or a freestanding service. DAYCARE HABILITATIVE (DCH) DCH services are provided to a client for two or more hours, but less than 24 hours a day, for three or more days per week. Participants may live independently, semiindependently, or in a supervised residential facility that does not provide DCH services. Daycare differs from outpatient care in that clients participate according to minimum attendance schedules and have regularly assigned treatment activities. DETOX Residential or outpatient treatment services that provide for safe withdrawal treatment in an ambulatory setting (pharmacological or non-pharmacological). NARCOTICS TREATMENT PROGRAMS (NTP) NTPs provide narcotic replacement therapy as prescribed by a physician to alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal from narcotics. OUTPATIENT DRUG FREE (ODF) ODF treatment/recovery services are provided when the client does not reside in a treatment facility. The client receives treatment services for drug use or alcohol abuse with or without medication, including counseling and/or supportive services. This is also known as nonresidential services. RESIDENTIAL Nonacute care in a residential setting with treatment services for alcohol and other drug use and dependency. Services are provided by program-designated personnel and include the following elements; personal recovery planning; educational sessions; social/recreational activities; individual and group sessions; and information about (and may include assistance in obtaining) health, social, vocational and other community services. TRANSITIONAL LIVING A facility designed to help women maintain an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle and transition back into the community. Activities are supervised (although not necessarily 24 hours a day) within an alcohol and drug-free environment. Attendance at a recovery and treatment program is mandatory, although those services may not be onsite.
