1 Case Study How I make $5, in 1 Month from Kindle Hi, Vicky Sharma here In this CASE STUDY I am going to show you how I make around $5000 every month from the books which I have published on the Kindle. And these numbers are growing every month. I will show you what I do with my every book which helps me to generate around $5000 every month on autopilot. I will also show you how to make your book best selling in its category. So, lets dive in Title: Your title is the MOST important marketing tool for your book. Get it wrong, and everything else will suffer. Get it right, and everything else will become easy. The first book I have written was on selling house. So here are the Title and the Subtitle I chose for my book. Primary Title: 19 Days to Sell Your House Secondary Title: Your House will be Sold on the 19th Day of Purchasing this Book. See the Calendar! You can see in the example that I have included a specific number which is 19 days in my title which will automatically stand out from the other book in the Kindle Marketplace. 2 numbers like 7 Weeks to, 21 Secrets for, 101 Easy work best. So, you can use numbers in your Title. There are more than hundred of book out there and there are million of information on the internet on how to sell your house but what unique in my book is that it will show them how to sell their in house in just 19 days. And this is the unique selling proposition of my book. In the Secondary Title I have claimed that if you will follow this book then your house will be sold on the 19th day which worked for my book very well. So you can use a Promise or a claim in your Subtitle. Make your title specific, familiar, and short. The title should be easy to remember and easy to say. Your subtitle should be descriptive. While the title should be short, the subtitle ought to be longer and more illustrative. Cover: I don t know how to use photoshop but there was a friend of mine who knew how to use it so I requested him to create the cover of my book. I tell him the concept of the book and explain to him over the phone that what to include in the title of my cover. And he came up with this. Page 2

3 I liked this cover but I told him that amazon background is white and the cover you created also have white background so this cover may lost on the Amazon Bookshelves. I told him to add another background apart from white. He worked on the cover and add some gradient on the cover and he came up with this. Page 3

4 Personally I didn t like the cover. He made the background of the cover dark so that it will appear clear on the amazon bookshelves but this cover was not looking professional. I knew the importance of a cover on Amazon Kindle so I told him to try something else. Page 4

5 He told me to give him some examples of exactly what I wanted. So I drew a rough cover on Microsoft Paint and I told him that I want something like this. He got the basic idea of exactly what I wanted and the next time he came up with this cover... Page 5

6 And I liked this cover so much that I finaled it instantly. Its not necessary that you also have a friend like me who have knowledge of photoshop but what I want to tell you here is that if you are outsourcing your cover from fiverr or some other place then at least give him a rough cover which you can make on microsoft paint so that it will be easy for them and you will also get the cover of your desire. Now I personally apply this formula for all of my kindle book and I urge you also to do the same because cover plays very important role in success of any kindle book. 11 Reviews: Reviews are the backbone for any successful kindle book. I knew this. So, first what I did was I reduced my price from $4.99 to $0.99 which was minimum. Then I posted on my wall requesting my friends to purchase it and give me the review. Page 11

12 I wanted atleast 3 reviews before doing the free promo of my book. I got some responses from my friend on my facebook post and got 3 reviews on my book. Great! Promotion: Before doing a free promo increase the price of your book. I personally increased the price to $ If somebody will see your book then they will find it a best bargain and they will immediately download your book. This strategy will increase the number of downloads of your book. I have set a 3 days free promo for 8th, 9th and 10th December. Now its time to promote it so that I can get more and more downloads and my book can become best seller in its category and at the same time I can get more reviews for my book. I have found a trick by which I can get more downloads and more reviews at the same time. I apply this trick on facebook. First I joined several Kindle related groups. 13 And here is the facebook group which I have created. You can join this group for promoting your book and exchanging your reviews. On the first day of my free promo (8th dec) I posted a post on almost every kindle related group for review exchange. 14 And then I started getting some responses on my post. Page 14

15 And only in few minutes I start getting messages like this: We both downloaded each others book and I told them that I will give them review on their book after 3 days. Some posted the review at the same time and some posted after 2 or 3 days. Then what I did was I start commenting on the posts which were of free books. Here is the exact comment I posted: Just downloaded your ebook! Looks amazing, I will give it a 5 star reviews. I will Appreciate if you will also download my book and give me a positive review. {My Book Link} And this strategy helped me a lot because I was focusing on one person at a time. By this strategy I do a favor to them by downloading their book and 90% of the time they will also download my book to return the favor. Page 15

17 On 8th December I promote my book for 2 hours. On 9th I did for only 1 hour and on 10th I hardly done the promotion for 15 minutes. And check out the number of downloads. On 8th of December I got 209 downloads and then 327 downloads on 9th and on 10th of December my books got 474 downloads. And my book was ranked 392 number in the Free Kindle Store and number 1 in Buying & Selling Homes category and number 2 in Business & Money category which is very competitive. That means now my book is amazon best seller and I can call myself Amazon Best Selling Author. :-) Page 17

19 At the end of the free promo I got 30 reviews for my book. Have a look Once your free days are over now its time to reduce your price to $2.99 and promote it on blogs and forums. Just search on google for your niche and you will find various blogs and forums there. Now what you have to do is just answer the questions on the blogs and forum and include the link of your book in your comment or answer. And don t forget to provide value. Page 19
