1 Youth and Careers in Nature Initiative Natural Resources Conservation Youth Leadership Development Program at the National Conservation Training Center

2 Introduction Secretary Salazar s Youth and Careers in Nature Initiative Increase talented, capable youth: Enter into public service in natural resources Volunteer as custodians of natural resources Reinvigorate the workforce

3 Youth in the Great Outdoors Initiative employ, educate, and engage young people from all backgrounds youth will have a key role in creating a new energy frontier, tackling climate change issues empowering Native communities building trails, enhancing wildlife habitat, and restoring our cultural and historic landmarks

4 Vision Working with the Department's Office of Youth in Natural Resources to prepare and inspire an ongoing cadre of youth for entry into DOI positions for the protection of our natural resources
