1 Position Description: 2014 Summer Conservation Crew Member Job Summary Are you looking for a summer job that will give you the chance to give back to your community while learning new skills in the field of natural resources and building your resume? The North Fork John Day Watershed Council is hiring youth ages to staff our two summer conservation crews, one based out of Long Creek and one based out of John Day. Crew members will work full-time Monday through Friday under the supervision of a crew leader on a variety of natural resources projects, including (but not limited to) invasive weed surveys and eradication, wilderness trail and campsite surveys, wildlife fence removal, and data collection. Crew members may receive training on tool safety, navigating and collecting data using a GPS unit, identifying invasive weeds, and more. The pay for this position is $9.10/hour. Essential Functions Work outdoors on natural resources projects under the direction of an experienced crew leader Potential projects include invasive weed surveys and eradication, wilderness trail and campsite surveys, wildlife fence removal, data collection Some projects may involve hiking several miles a day, using hand tools, etc. Job Requirements No prior work experience necessary this is an ideal first job! 2 NORTH FORK JOHN DAY WATERSHED COUNCIL 2013 RESTORATION TECHNICIAN APPLICATION Applicants for Restoration Technician positions must be eligible to be enrolled in 8 th grade through college undergraduate courses. This application, along with a letter of recommendation, must be ed to youthcrew@nfjdwc.org or delivered to NFJDWC office ASAP. Upon receipt of applications, NFJDWC staff will select applicants to interview for available positions. Final Selection will be based upon the sole discretion of NFJDWC staff.
