1 IV International Scientific Conference «The Formation of a Polycentric Model of the Modern World» On May 2016, Lomonosov Moscow State University will host the next international conference «Pressing Issues in Global Studies» on the development of the BRICS countries cooperation. The key topic of the conference is «The Formation of a Polycentric Model of the Modern World». Indeed BRICS plays a significant role in the formation of a multipolar world. The poles of the multipolar world are not only the developed Western countries, but also developing countries in Asia and Latin America. BRICS as a five-sided cooperation platform has the ability to turn into one of the most important tools for building a multipolar world. Such initiative is warmly welcomed not only in Russia, but also in Brazil, India, China and South Africa. Many experts are inclined to downplay the role of the BRICS, pointing to the existing contradictions within the BRICS group, the lack of clear institutionalization prospects, weak technological and financial position of its member countries. However, it is impossible to deny

2 the fact of the conversion of the BRICS group to one of the most influential actor on the contemporary political scene. The uniqueness of the BRICS is that it allows to conduct active cooperation of the countries in the new format. Thus, the BRICS may be regarded as the beginning of the new world order. One thing is certain: the BRICS group can become a real instrument of multipolar diplomacy, bringing its members the political dividends, and making them the leading actors in the global world. Basing on the results of the International scientific conference "Prospects and strategic priorities of BRICS uprising", held on December 17 th, 2014, and then in the framework of the Year of Russia in BRICS on October 2015 at the International Scientific Congress "Globalistics-2015" and the BRICS Global University Summit-2015 Lomonosov Moscow State University initiated the establishment of the Association of Scientific and Educational Centers of the BRICS (ASEC BRICS). At the conference «Pressing Issues in Global Studies: The Formation of a Polycentric Model of the Modern World», the first ever meeting of the BRICS Association of Research and Education Centers will bring together a multidisciplinary ensemble of scholars and leading academic institutions from the BRICS countries. For its advancing development and strengthening global positions, BRICS, being a new and rapidly developing paradigm for international relations on the world scene, needs a platform for communication of the leaders of academic world. This platform could be used to share best educational practices, new knowledge and technologies, to create and implement collaborative research, innovation and humanitarian projects. The participants of the international congress Globalistics-2015 representing all BRICS countries, as well as 50 more countries, approved the creation of The BRICS Association of Research and Education Centers in the special resolution. The Moscow University initiative was endorsed by such Russian institutions as the Russian Union of Rectors, The Eurasian Universities Association, The Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University) and other Russian and international bodies. The creation and operation of the BRICS Association of Research and Education Centers will enhance the integrated research and education space of BRICS, scientific and technological development of the member states, as well as the spread of the global influence of universities and research centers based in BRICS countries on the world science and education and the humanitarian field in general. In addition, at the site of our conference there will be a meeting of the Presidium of the International Academy of Global Studies. The experts will discuss networking with leading Russian and foreign research institutes and centers specializing in the field of international and global studies.
