1 Dress Code Why a Dress Code? We ask that students come dressed prepared to dance in the appropriate dancewear. A student s dress is a reflection of their respect for the art form. Baggy clothing can mask bad habits, making corrections impossible. Wearing the dancewear outlined in this handbook will: Allow the body placement and lines of the legs to be visible Allow our teachers to observe and correct posture and alignment Help with overall focus and energy Create unity among the dancers Minimize distractions Give classes a unified and professional look Maintains a legacy of tradition within the art form By "dressing the part," dancers feel like dancers. Dress Code Policy We expect that all dancers will comply with the dress code when attending classes at the Annex Dance Academy. We are a professional studio and like to present ourselves as such. Part of doing this includes the professional look of each class. When a dancer comes to class without the proper attire they will be reminded of the Dress Code and be expected to adjust their attire for the next class. If the dancer is not able to comply with the dress code for this next class they will not be permitted to participate in the class. They will be asked to call their parent to be picked up or for the proper attire to be delivered. This also applies to the hair requirements. When a dancer is not permitted to participate due to lack of proper attire the office will make every effort to send an reminder of the dress code requirements.
