White paper Achieving PCI-Compliance through Cyberoam The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) aims to assure cardholders that their card details are safe and secure when their debit or credit card is offered at any Point of Sale, whether it s over the Internet, on the phone or through mail order. The Compliance applies to any company that processes, stores or transmits credit/debit card data and consequently affects merchants with physical stores, hospitality industry as well as banks, bureau and service providers. Cyberoam s Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliance offers comprehensive network security against blended threats through its features like Stateful Inspection Firewall, VPN, Gateway Anti Virus & Anti Spyware, Gateway Anti Spam, Web & URL Filtering, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, Bandwidth Management and Multiple Link Management while keeping security an easy to manage affair. It allows user identity based access policy creation in enterprises based on work profile, department and individual user. Its lack of dependence on IP addresses to identify internal users enables Cyberoam to offer protection even in dynamic DHCP and Wi Fi and shared machine environments. Cyberoam Solution for PCI DSS Compliance Cyberoam provides network based solution to address 11 PCI requirements out of 12. Cyberoam does this through features like:! Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) / Intrusion Detection System (IDS)! Stateful Inspection Firewall! Web Application Firewall! Application Visibiltiy & Control! Gateway Anti-Virus! Logging and Reporting

Install and maintain a firewall configuration to protect cardholder data Establish firewall and router configuration standards that include the following: A formal process for approving and testing all network connections and changes to the firewall and router Cyberoam is a PCI compliant firewall that is installed and maintained to protect cardholder data Cyberoam's Multilink Manager tests Internet connection and alerts on any disconnection. Cyberoam's audit logs and reports includes any and all changes to the firewall configuration Requirements for a firewall at each Internet connection and between any demilitarized zone (DMZ) and the internal network zone Description of groups, roles, and responsibilities for logical management of network components Build firewall and router configurations that restrict connections between un-trusted networks and any system components in the cardholder data environment. Restrict inbound and outbound traffic to that which is necessary for the cardholder data environment. Secure and synchronize router configuration files. Cyberoam enables network segmentation and protection between each internet connection, DMZ zone and the internal network With Cyberoam, you can define groups, roles and responsibilities for administrators that are responsible for logical management of network components. Cyberoam is a closed configuration firewall by default, which means the access from un-trusted network to cardholder data network is restricted unless opened. Inbound traffic is restricted by default, as a configuration that is out of the box. It is easy to create firewall rules to allow on necessary outbound traffic in a secure manner. Cyberoam configuration back up files are automated and encrypted for security Install perimeter firewalls between any wireless networks and the cardholder data environment, and configure these firewalls to deny or control (if such traffic is necessary for business purposes) any traffic from the wireless environment into the cardholder data environment. Prohibit direct public access between the Internet and any system component in the cardholder data environment. Cyberoam can be deployed as the perimeter firewall between different segments of the network including Wireless networks and cardholder data environment, thus controlling access for any traffic in or out of cardholder data environment. By default, with Cyberoam, direct public access between internet and trusted cardholder data environment is prohibited. Implement a DMZ to limit inbound traffic to only system components that provide authorized publicly accessible services, protocols, and ports. Limit inbound Internet traffic to IP addresses within the DMZ. Do not allow any direct connections inbound or outbound for traffic between the Internet and the cardholder data environment. Do not allow internal addresses to pass from the Internet into the DMZ Do not allow unauthorized outbound traffic from the cardholder data environment to the Internet Implement stateful inspection, also known as dynamic packet filtering. (That is, only established connections are allowed into the network.) It is easy to segment network with Cyberoam, by creating single or multiple DMZ zones to limit traffic to only systems that are servicing publicly accessible services and protocols. You can control this by creating simple firewall rules on Cyberoam This is achieved by configuration of firewall rules on Cyberoam This can be configured through firewall rules on Cyberoam This can be configured through firewall rules on Cyberoam Cyberoam is a PCI Compliant firewall that employs stateful inspection

Place system components that store cardholder data (such as a database) in an internal network zone, segregated from the DMZ and other un-trusted networks. It is easy to segment the network with Cyberoam and thus reduce the overall scope of PCI audit Do not use vendor-supplied defaults for system passwords and other security parameters Always change vendor-supplied defaults before installing a system on the network, including but not limited to passwords, simple network management protocol (SNMP) community strings, and elimination of unnecessary accounts. Develop configuration standards for all system components. Assure that these standards address all known security vulnerabilities and are consistent with industry-accepted system hardening standards. Enable only necessary and secure services, protocols, daemons, etc., as required for the function of the system. Implement security features for any required services, protocols or daemons that are considered to be insecure for example, use secured technologies such as SSH, S-FTP, SSL, or IPSec VPN to Cyberoam alerts the administrator to change the default settings on firewall, eg. Administrative account password Cyberoam IPS has predefined set of configuration policies that address known security vulnerabilities. Cyberoam is also built upon an industry-accepted, hardened kernel Cyberoam's OS is custom hardened such that it has only the necessary and secure services, protocols and daemons running. Another reason why Cyberoam is PCI compliant. Remove all unnecessary functionality, such as scripts, drivers, features, subsystems, file systems, and unnecessary web servers. Encrypt all non-console administrative access using strong cryptography. Use technologies such as SSH, VPN, or SSL/TLS for web based management and other non-console administrative access. Cyberoam's OS is hardened and optimized by removing any and all unnecessary functionalities Cyberoam management is over secure protocols like SSH and SSL, or over VPN. Protect stored cardholder data Do not store sensitive authentication data after authorization (even if encrypted). Sitting at the perimeter, Cyberoam only protects the network that stores, processes or transmits cardholder data. It never stores or processes any cardholder data by itself. The cardholder data that is transmitted, is done in an encrypted form and never stored. Encrypt transmission of cardholder data across open, public networks Use strong cryptography and security protocols (for example, SSL/TLS, IPSEC, SSH, etc.) to safeguard sensitive cardholder data during transmission over open, public networks. Never send unprotected PANs by end-user messaging technologies (for example, , instant messaging, chat, etc.). Do not allow unauthorized outbound traffic from the cardholder data environment to the Internet Cyberoam can be configured to use IPSEC to create tunnels and transmit sensitive cardholder data, encrypted using strong cryptography during transmission over open public networks. Cyberoam provides content filtering to deny sensitive information like unprotected clear text PAN through s, IM, chat, etc This can be configured through firewall rules on Cyberoam Use and regularly update anti-virus software or program Deploy anti-virus software on all systems commonly affected by malicious software Cyberoam provides industry standard gateway level anti-virus solution to protect against malicious software

Ensure that all anti-virus programs are capable of detecting, removing, and protecting against all known types of malicious software. Ensure that all anti-virus mechanisms are current, actively running, and generating audit logs. Cyberoam includes anti-virus program that detects, removes and protects against all known types of malicious software and also does logging and reporting of each activity. Anti-virus definitions are automatically updated every 30 minutes to keep it current, runs actively in the background and provides logs and reports for every event Develop and maintain secure systems and applications Develop applications based on secure coding guidelines. Prevent common coding vulnerabilities in software development processes. For public-facing web applications, address new threats and vulnerabilities on an ongoing basis and ensure these applications are protected against known attacks by either of the following methods:! Reviewing public-facing web applications via manual or automated application vulnerability security assessment tools or methods, at least annually and after any changes! Installing a web-application firewall in front of public-facing web applications Cyberoam's IPS engine compliments secure coding guidelines by providing strong detection and prevention capabilities that address various known attacks and vulnerabilities. Even if the application is not vulnerable to a specific attack, Cyberoam detects and prevents from the attack before they can find another potential vulnerability. IPS signatures and Web Application Firewall filter protects the applications and systems from these known attacks. Cyberoam's Web Application Firewall module is deployed in front of public-facing web applications to protect against new and ongoing threats and vulnerabilities. Restrict access to cardholder data by business need to know Limit access to system components and cardholder data to only those individuals whose job requires such access. Establish an access control system for systems components with multiple users that restricts access based on a user s need to know, and is set to deny all unless specifically allowed. Cyberoam integrates with external directory services like Active Directory, LDAP or RADIUS. User and group profiles can also be created manually on its own database. Based on the user or group profile, access is restricted based on the roles and access privileges of the user Cyberoam has its own access control system that ties all the security policies and firewall ACLs with multiple users. Based on the user s job requirement, access is granted, and everyone else is set to deny. Assign a unique ID to each person with computer access Assign all users a unique ID before allowing them to access system components or cardholder data. With Cyberoam, you can either import the user database with unique usernames or ID from an external directory service like Active Directory, LDAP or RADIUS, or you can create the user database manually on Cyberoam. This unique user ID is used to grant access to systems components or cardholder data and logged. In addition to assigning a unique ID, employ at least one of the following methods to authenticate all users:! Something you know, such as a password or passphrase! Something you have, such as a token device or smart card! Something you are, such as a biometric Cyberoam supports strong authentication where access is control with an additional methods like a SMS token along with unique user ID and passphrase

Incorporate two-factor authentication for remote access (network-level access originating from outside the network) to the network by employees, administrators, and third parties. (For example, remote authentication and dialing service (RADIUS) with tokens; terminal access controller access control system (TACACS) with tokens; or other technologies that facilitate two-factor authentication.) Render all passwords unreadable during transmission and storage on all system components using strong cryptography Ensure proper user identification and authentication management for non-consumer users and administrators on all system components. Remove all unnecessary functionality, such as scripts, drivers, features, subsystems, file systems, and unnecessary web servers. Cyberoam supports 2 factor strong authentication for remote access when using VPN. For example, users need to use RSA secure ID token along with username and password to authenticate and access resources on the network Cyberoam follows an authentication technique that doesn t store or transmit any user passwords Because Cyberoam is directly integrated with external directory service, user identification and management and administration is done on the directory servers itself, and not on Cyberoam. For local database, you can set controls like Addition, deletion and modification of user IDs, credentials and other objects Cyberoam's OS is hardened and optimized by removing any and all unnecessary functionalities Track and monitor all access to network resources and cardholder data Record at least the following audit trail entries for all system components for each event: - User identification - Type of event - Date and time - Success or failure indication - Origination of event - Identity or name of affected data, system component, or resource Secure audit trails so they cannot be altered. Protect audit trail files from unauthorized modifications Promptly back up audit trail files to a centralized log server or media that is difficult to alter Write logs for external-facing technologies onto a log server on the Retain audit trail history for at least one year, with a minimum of three months immediately available for analysis (for example, online, archived, or restorable from back-up). Cyberoam includes a complete user based SIEM module called iview that includes audit entries for every event including user identification, type of event, data and time, Success or failure, Origin of event, and much more. Cyberoam's logging and reporting module logs both real time and historic data up to 1 years. With Cyberoam you can secure access to logs and reports based on roles and responsibilities. You can set a read only access so they cannot be altered. With Cyberoam and iview you can protect audit reports from unauthorized access and modifications by defining access control It is easy to backup audit logs and reports automatically to a centralized server on a regular basis iview logs every event and activity for external facing technologies On appliance reporting on Cyberoam allows you to retain audit trail logs and reports for up to 1 year. You can also export the reports to an external centralized report server in the LAN

Regularly test security systems and processes. Test for the presence of wireless access points and detect unauthorized wireless access points on a quarterly basis Use intrusion-detection systems, and/or intrusion-prevention systems to monitor all traffic at the perimeter of the cardholder data environment as well as at critical points inside of the cardholder data environment, and alert personnel to suspected compromises. Keep all intrusion-detection and prevention engines, baselines, and signatures up-to-date. Cyberoam's Rogue wireless detection and prevention system detects the presence of any unauthorized wireless access points, and take preventive action against it. Cyberoam includes a network based IDS/IPS system. The IPS module monitors traffic, detects and prevents intrusion and alerts and reports all the events. The IDS/IPS signature base is automatically updated twice every month. All the signatures comes with a recommended setting based on the severity of the threat or vulnerability Maintain a policy that addresses information security for all personnel. Assign to an individual or team the following information security management responsibilities: Monitor and analyze security alerts and information, and distribute to appropriate personnel. Monitor and control all access to data. Include alerts from intrusion detection, intrusion-prevention, and file integrity monitoring systems. With Cyberoam, you can define custom administrative roles for different information security management responsibilities With real time logging, reporting and alerting, it becomes easy for the individual or team to monitor and analyze security alerts and information, and inform appropriate personnel. Cyberoam's logging and reports module allows security administrator to monitor and control access to data Cyberoam IPS/IDS alerts the administrator on any intrusion on the internal network. This helps the security team to implement their BCP plan. One-click PCI-DSS Compliance Reports with Cyberoam I sales@cyberoam.com
