1 Mission Statement Driving Ambition Inspiring Success Job Description Job Title Number Post Holder Job Title Responsible to Vice Principal - Quality and Performance Principal / Chief Executive Key Strategic Objectives To champion, inspire and facilitate a high quality culture across the College which drives up Quality Standards and Performance, in both Curriculum and Business Support Departments. To ensure that outstanding Teaching, Learning & Assessment are at the heart of all the College does. To develop, as part of the Senior Leadership team, stretching targets for approval at the Governing Body and to ensure accurate and regular reporting of progress against these, holding managers to account and instigating proactive intervention when targets are missed. To directly manage the following Departments: Quality and Standards, Exams, Teaching, Learning and Student Development, Higher Education Quality Assurance, Health and Safety and Workforce Development. To ensure all Departments under your management perform consistently to a high level. To lead on delivering the Colleges Workforce Development Strategy, regularly reviewing it and updating as required. To work with the Deputy Principal to set and monitor the Colleges Key Performance Measures (KPMs). To play a key role in ensuring the College is recognised as an Outstanding Provider whilst remaining inclusive. Page 1 of 7

2 To lead in the implementing and delivery of cross college Quality and Standards procedures to ensure effective compliance and eliminate staff and course underperformance. To lead on the recruitment of Outward Collaborative Partners and to monitor the quality and performance of this provision. To train and prepare to be the College Nominee for all Ofsted activities, including Inspection preparation and action planning. To ensure accurate data reports are available to support the setting and monitoring of targets and the self-assessment processes. To provide the Chairman of Governors and the wider Governing Body with key information to allow them to exercise their responsibilities. To ensure robust, proactive and responsive Health, Safety & Welfare Policies and Procedures are in place to safeguard the College, its staff and students. To be actively involved in the attainment of objectives contained within the College s Strategic Plan. To commit to the Colleges Safeguarding Policy and promote a safe environment for children, young people and vulnerable adults within the College. Specifically the Postholder's responsibilities will be as follows: 1. To lead and support College Managers in the identification and swift elimination of underperformance. 2. To lead the preparation of the annual Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QuIP) processes, including course reviews. 3. Support the identification and management of capability processes linked to underperformance in all areas of provision. 4. Ensure a robust Health, Safety & Welfare Implementation Strategy, secured by rigorous Quality Assurance Procedures. 5. To ensure the creation, distribution and active use of rigorous, timely and accurate performance data, including Value Added, attendance, retention, achievement and withdrawal statistics. 6. To ensure accurate and timely reports are available for student progression rates to internal courses, Apprenticeships, Higher Education and employment. 7. To ensure that the Departments you manage are high performing and responsive. 8. Regularly review all Quality Assurance Policies and procedures to ensure relevance and compliance. Page 2 of 7

3 9. Ensure all formal complaints submitted to the College are addressed and provide regular summaries to the College Leadership Team and Governing Body. 10. To provide supportive line management to the identified direct reports. 11. Provide accurate and timely reports to the College Leadership Team and Governing Body. 12. To participate in strategic and operational planning and delivery as a member of the College Leadership Team. 13. To deputise for the Principal or Deputy Principal as appropriate. 14. To effectively manage the assigned budget. 15. To lead in the attainment of objectives contained within the College s Strategic Plan and to adhere to the Performance Management Cycle. 16. To attend internal and external events on behalf of the College. 17. To carry out Staff Appraisals as required. 18. To be the College data owner responsible to the Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with the College s Data Protection Policy. 19. To show an active commitment to the College s Single Equality Scheme, Quality Frameworks and Health, Safety & Welfare Procedures. 20. To actively participate in Continuous Professional Development including the introduction of new technologies to allow you to contribute effectively to the success of the College. 21. 7 Contract Arrangements Job Title Number Management Spine Staff will be engaged under a Contract of Employment determined by Middlesbrough College. Within your contract, the following salient features will apply: (a) Contract type Management Staff Full Time Permanent post (b) Working week 37 hours per week. (c) Holiday 36 days per annum.
