2 Employer s Perspective - Who are you? - What contribution can you make to this organisation? - Why are you interested in working for this company? - Is it evident that a link exists between you as a potential candidate and this organisation - Is it worth my while interviewing you? How does the employer short-list from CV s? Works initially from a Job Description Outlines the job content and specific skills, experience and personal attributes required to do the job effectively Employer scans the CV/Covering Letter for a MATCH The closest MATCH is short-listed and called for interview Transferable Skills Skills acquired during any activity in your life that can be applied at a later stage in other situations. You can acquire these skills through all sorts of activities employment, projects, voluntary work, hobbies, sports, almost any area of your life. From the employers perspective once you have acquired a skill you then have the capacity to transfer it into their organisation and develop it further Skill Progression. Therefore, when employers shortlist from CV they are looking for concrete evidence of the skills you have developed that are transferable into their organisation Skill Match Intellectual Skills Interpersonal Skills Management Skills The Graduate - Skills for Success Conceptual Analytical Problem Solving Research Communication Negotiation Facilitation Presentation Team Work Networking Organisational Task Management Time Management I.T. skills The Employers Top Attributes Jobs for Nutritional Science Grads Willingness to learn Drive/Energy Self-motivation Desire to Achieve Team Work Communication Skills (Oral/Written) Adapability Flexibility Co-operation operation Interpersonal Skills Self-management Task-management Problem Solving Ability Dependability Co-operation operation Initiative Laboratory Technician Poldy s Fresh Foods Cork University Hospital, Specsavers Quality Controller/Analytical Cadbury Ireland, Green Isle Foods, Rye valley Foods, Dawn Farms Ltd, Green Isle Foods, Lakelands Dairies Ltd, Keelings Multiples Ltd, Kerry Foods.
