1 My Dear Fellow Watchmen, We need boldness in our prayers and our witness. We need courage to say what's right and do what's right. Remember the courage of Esther? "If you keep silent at this time, liberation and deliverance will come to the Jewish people from another place, but you and your father s house will be destroyed. Who knows, perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this. (Esther 4:14). The enormous challenge to engage 10,000 East Texas households and families with the Gospel of Jesus Christ over the next three years requires boldness! None of us can do this alone, but together, we can saturate our community with the message of hope and forgiveness in Jesus. Almost 60 years ago, President John F. Kennedy won a Pulitzer Prize for his bestselling book titled, Profiles in Courage. In the book, he tells the stories of eight US Senators (most before the Civil War) who took brave stands and cast votes that helped shape America to save the Union. Most of their names would be unknown to most of us today. Many of them suffered political losses and defeats for doing what they were convinced was right. They brought careful thought and political courage to American government. We face serious challenges that require courageous leaders who are willing to look beyond the next election cycle and seek the long-term health of our nation. We need leaders who will focus on governing, not thinking about how to get re-elected. How we vote demonstrates our own faith and courage. Everything begins with our commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord. We must pray, live, and vote with the Bible as our guide for our belief and behavior, then our faith will join with our courage. Let's pray especially for boldness in the lives of the Christians who are serving in elected offices of government. Please pray for me to have Holy Spirit empowered boldness, as I preach this month. Pray for one another in the Mobberly family to exude boldness as we engage people who are different than us. It's almost impossible to find an occasion where the early church was in prayer and boldness and there was not an immediate after effect. May the name of God be praised forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. He changes the times and seasons; He removes kings and establishes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. Daniel 2:20-21 (HCSB) Praise the Lord for: Many Mobberly members who are praying and preparing to engage East Texas households with the Gospel of Jesus Christ this fall. The growth of our Marshall campus in new members and leaders. A wonderful summer of adult groups. This summer many groups were intentional with their meetings and fellowships and, we are more prepared for the fall season than ever before. Unity on our Connect Team. We have been working diligently over the past 90 days and have seen the team grow closer and more aligned on Engage 10K. A wonderful time of worship at the Patriotic Celebration services on July 3 rd. We are thankful that Governor Greg Abbott and Congressman Louis Gohmert could come and share with us. Having our youth and children lead in worship alongside our adults in the Worship Center. Eight Junior High students who made spiritual decisions of salvation and/or baptism in July. Seven children who accepted Christ on our Youth Mission Marshall trip through one-on-one evangelism. Our students obedience and boldness and for souls added to the Kingdom. Generational connections made between Sr. Adults and Youth at Mobberly as together we shared in a Connect Group Sunday. Faith stories were shared, Gospel encounters took place, and generational bridges were built. College students starting to come out of addiction, admitting it to leaders and seeking help. Numerous Mobberly college students came back this summer and plugged into ministry. New families attending this summer on Marshall Campus. A new full-time Sunday morning volunteer preschool teacher on our Marshall Campus. His blessings on our adult Medical and Youth Evangelism Mission Trip to Malawi, Africa. - Over 1300 were treated medically. - There were 6880 professions of faith. 65 Baptisms (includes 54 in Malawi) and 18 professions of faith. The three adults saved at the first pre-launch service for Current SV (Silicon Valley) Church, Mountain View, CA. The recent night of highest attendance for 2016 in Celebrate Recovery even in these summer months. 14 people beginning new life in Christ through the Tuesday morning Family Services Ministry in June and July! Pray for these new brothers and sisters, as they begin to grow in their faith: Voreecie, Domonique, Anna, Kena, Quiarah, Natalie, Joanie, Ashley, Caleb, Shontel, Key, David, Thomas, and Leslie. An Engage Event: The LaJoie class partnered with Buckner Family Services for two evenings in July and was able to share the Gospel with 35 children and a few parents each evening. 3 Repentance- Confess and repent of sin in our life Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, Acts 3:19 (HCSB) Acknowledge- His Authority and Lordship He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things have been created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:15-16 (HCSB) Intercession- Prayers for Mobberly, Staff and Ministries For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, Colossians 1:9 (HCSB) Please pray for: Continued wisdom and guidance for more permanent space for our Marshall Campus. God to provide for our Marshall Campus: - A total of 50 volunteers to serve on Sunday mornings and 5 volunteers to serve on Wednesday evenings in Preschool and Children s classes. - The right person to serve as Preschool Assistant. - Three Decision/Prayer Partner Team Captains. - Creative solutions to use our space as we grow and need additional classrooms for adults, youth and children. Our staff as plans are being finalized to launch the Engage 10K Initiative, August 28 th. All Mobberly members to continue to pray and seek God s direction and strength to engage people with the Gospel of Jesus this fall. Paul Coleman, Jay Shepherd, Greg Martin and Gregg Zackary as they prepare for Engage 10K Equipping Courses that will be offered this fall on Wednesday nights. God to create the opportunity for us to start new Connect Groups in August. Our specific prayer is that we begin four groups that will help bring new people in and connect them to a group of believers. God to bring new members who long to serve in the Worship ministry. Wisdom and guidance in planning curriculum and activities for Children s Choir, Junior High Choir, and Youth Choir. Leadership (volunteers) for Children's, Jr. High and Youth choirs. God to show the Worship ministry creative ways to use our gifts to go out and engage our community for Christ. Our graduates who are headed off to college and careers. Pray they remain close to God. Pray specifically for the ones moving to other locations that they would find a church body to be a part of locally or otherwise and that they would not allow a busy schedule to be an excuse for lack of church involvement and service. Our junior high, high school, and college students who are getting ready to go back to school. Pray specifically that they would be leaders and be a bright light for Christ. Our deacon teams as they share the Lord s Supper with our homebound members in their homes on August 21 st. Pray that this would be a time of blessing, encouragement, and celebration of Christ s sacrificial love for both our deacon s and those that they minister to that day. August 2016 Alert, 3

4 The Mission Team that is partnering with Colley Dean Granary Baptist Church, Glenrothes, Scotland. Pray for children, teens, and adults to respond to the Gospel and connect with the church. Ministry families as this is the one of the busiest months of the year, that they would be great time managers and the Lord would help them balance family and ministry well. God s wisdom as we plan outreach opportunities for Engage 10K. Men in the Gregg County Jail who need to be baptized to have the courage to obediently follow the Lord in baptism. Believers who need to be baptized to have the conviction and courage to be obedient to follow through in believer s baptism. Supplication- Time watchmen pray for themselves as it relates to their part in God s plan and purpose I love the LORD, because He has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because He inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live. Psalm 116:1-2 (ESV) Pray that: Each of us would take to heart what Governor Greg Abbott and Congressman Louis Gohmert shared with us regarding religious freedom. We would all pray daily for revival in our nation. As Pastor Glynn recently said, The solution for America s problems is not in an election, but in the prayers of the elect! The Lord would help us to see others through His eyes and make it a priority to build intentional relationships where Gospel conversations can take place. God would help us step outside our comfort zone and lean upon the Holy Spirit to guide us. God will guide and encourage those participating in Celebrate Recovery, as well as the faithful leaders who help facilitate this ministry at this important time in their lives. God will use the August 27 th Ironmen s Breakfast to engage men outside Mobberly to come as they gather, as well as to challenge Mobberly men to engage others as they scatter. Women to begin asking the Lord to open their eyes to the women around them that He wants them to engage with the Gospel and will intentionally begin to build relationships with them. We will be helping those we engage to be a part of learning what it means to follow Christ. Equipping- Praying to grow in our capacity to serve God and partner with Mobberly to help people change the world We proclaim Him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ. Colossians 1:28 (HCSB) Pray for: God to give our Connect Team wisdom as we train leaders on August 24 th. We hope to equip the saints for ministry and want to do it well. Back to School Kickoff on Wednesday, August 24 th. That we would see some come to know Christ as Savior and that our students would get excited about reaching their campuses for Christ. All our students as they move up into their new Connect Groups at the end of August. Pray that each one connects and experiences much spiritual growth in their Youth Connect Group. God to give us a vision for engaging 10,000 households in East Texas and prepare us to be sensitive to the needs of those around us. Upcoming Develop Opportunities this fall will equip us for these important days of engaging 10,000 households, preparing Mobberly family members to engage and preparing those who are engaged for the Christian life. 5 Children as they return to school and renew their interest in reading, that the Book Nook will be an engaging resource to share God s message through the medium of books and videos. God to use the Marriage Moments gatherings in Marshall and Longview to strengthen and encourage husbands and wives to invest in their marriage. Your kingdom come.
