Students will master the ability t calculate the perimeter f an bject by measuring all the sides f an bject and adding thse measurements tgether. Understanding the Standard: In the beginning, have students write the measurement abve each side and then write an additin equatin fr calculatin. Relate perimeter t real-life situatins such as putting fence arund an bject r buying materials fr a picture frame. The mre ways students can see the applicatin f this skill, the mre wnership they will take in learning it. Students shuld have the pprtunity t measure a variety f bjects and then calculate the perimeter.
