2 WELCOME TO WILSTHORPE SIXTH FORM At Wilsthorpe, we pride ourselves on offering a wide range of opportunities and experiences for our sixth form students. They are well supported by a dedicated tutor team, focussing on both pastoral care and the acquisition of skills to ensure academic growth which maximises achievement. Post 16 students are able to make full use of our extensive school facilities. Not only do we have a dedicated sixth form block equipped with tools for independent learning and for recreational activities, our students benefit from specialist areas and teaching spaces in Art, Drama, Music, Motor Vehicle, Catering and Engineering which have been developed to facilitate high quality learning in a school with rapidly improving outcomes. Laptops are provided for sixth formers to undertake private study in an independent learning space with all day catering facilities. In addition, our Resource Centre prioritises the needs of Y12 and Y13 students, providing ample space and support for research based assignments. We celebrate 100% success each year in securing placements for our A Level students who pursue the university route, with many attending Russell Group establishments. However, it is the care of the individual, the determination to ensure students achieve their potential and our relentless drive to produce successful young adults with excellent futures, which makes me proud to be in my position. 3 Pathways to success at Wilsthorpe Academic pathway 5 GCSEs at A*-C with a preference of B in chosen subjects. Take four A Level options during Year 12 and three in Year 13 (alongside the EPQ). Vocational pathway 5 GCSEs at A*-C including Maths and English. Take three or four BTEC Level 3 options over two years. L2 pathway 5 GCSEs above grade E and a school report that shows a willingness to learn. Take four A Level options during Year 12 and three in Year 13 (alongside the EPQ).

4 Enrichment and Leadership Students in the Sixth Form at Wilsthorpe have many opportunities for growth outside of the classroom as well as support and quality teaching within it. Leadership opportunities are extensive, with many of our students opting to help younger students in lessons, or getting involved with coaching of extra-curricular sports teams. Sixth Form students are regularly seen taking lead roles in our excellent whole school drama productions. These opportunities allow students to broaden the content of their UCAS personal statement, helping them to demonstrate that they have developed into the rounded individuals universities are keen to recruit.
