Hot water will continue to flow through the tap until no longer required. When the demand for hot water ceases the integral pump may continue to run for a short while to dissipate any excess heat within the boiler. Domestic Hot Water and Central Heating Mode: When heating demand is requested the boiler will fire automatically. An integral pump is then energized and hot water from the boiler s primary circuit is circulated around the heating systems, pipe-work and radiators. The heat output from the boiler is automatically adjusted by the boiler s internal control unit to match the heating demand. As the water temperature of the heating system increases the gas input to the burner decreases, conserving energy and increasing efficiency. When the demand for heating no longer exists either the room thermostat is satisfied or the heating period has ended, the burner will shut down and the boiler will revert to stand-by, waiting to respond to the next heating demand. The integral pump may continue to run after shut down for a short while to dissipate any excess heat within the boiler. Please Note. When domestic hot water is called for during the heating mode, the boiler will automatically revert to domestic hot water mode until the demand for hot water ceases. Boiler Design and Clearances Description The boiler is a combined domestic hot water and central heating appliance. The internal control unit electronically provides direct burner ignition and combustion supervision along with continuous modulation of the burner s gas supply. By means of a manual button the boiler can be set to operate in one of two operating modes, domestic hot water only (summer mode) or domestic hot water and central heating (winter mode). Domestic Hot Water Mode: When hot water demand is requested the boiler will fire automatically. An integral pump is then energized and hot water from the boiler s primary circuit is circulated through the secondary heat exchanger, allowing the instantaneous transfer of heat to the incoming cold water. The secondary heat exchanger is protected against an 28

33 Operating the Boiler Initial Operating Check that all isolating valves and the gas service cock on the appliance are open and that water flows from the hot water taps and then close taps. NOTE: It is possible to see different pressure values on LCD screen and analog manometer due to dynamic pressure. It is not a fault. If you are in any doubt about the boiler being filled with water contact your installer. Do not operate the boiler without water. 1. With no demand from any external controls. Prior to firing, check that the electrical supply to the boiler is 'On' Summer Mode Selection If only DHW symbol ( ) appears on the screen, it denotes that the boiler is ready to operate in summer mode to only supply domestic hot water. This symbol blinks when the tap is ON. (Figure 5) Figure 5 To set summer mode from winter mode, turn the CH knob to ( ) position (figure 6). DHW temperature can be set between 35 C - 64 C. 2. Set the boiler's central heating and domestic hot water temperature controls to maximum by turning CH and DHW adjustment knobs as defined in Figure Set the thermostatic radiator valves and the room thermostat to maximum value. 4. Turn the CH temperature control knob between min-max until the temperature shown on LCD and the pressure value disappear. 5. The boiler's control unit will now automatically carry out pre-ignition safety checks before igniting the burner. Boiler Function Boiler controls The function and operation of the main controls located on the control panel fascia figure 1 is as follows: In the position, where pressure value can be seen, the boiler is in stand-by mode (figure 3) and power supply is ON. Figure 6 Winter Mode Selection If there is a requirement to change the operating mode from summer to winter, just set the CH knob between min and max CH temperature value. (Figure 7) To have the comfort conditions, it is advised to set CH temperature as e. CH temperature can be set between 38 C - 85 C. Also, it can be set between 30 C - 50 C for undersoil heating systems. In this mode, LCD display shows both DHW and CH symbols at the same time but only operating circuit symbol blinks. (Figure 8) Figure 3 Figure 4 To operate the boiler, the DHW control knob should be turned until the temperature appears and the pressure value disappears on LCD. Working Mode (Figure 4) Figure 7 Figure 8 By turning CH control knob, it is possible to change the boiler s operating mode either from winter to summer ( ) or summer to winter mode ( ). 31

34 Eco & Comfort Modes for CH Central heating system can be operated in two alternative modes. Eco & Comfort. Boiler includes NTC sensors for measuring inlet and outlet water temperatures. And boiler calculates heating ramp each 30 seconds. In case heating demand of CH; at the beginning burner works with minimum capacity for 1 minute. After that time, if measured ramp is smaller than the ramp given for modes in table 2 power is increased by 1 kw for each 30 seconds. CH Mode ECO Mode Reduced ECO Mode (Floor Heating) COMFORT Mode Reduced COMFORT Mode (Floor Heating) Ramp 2 C/min 1 C/min 4 C/min 2 C/min Table 2 In Comfort mode, boiler automatically sense heat loss of building and power is modulated between maximum power and required power for building whereas water temperature level is between set+3 C and set+5 C -Eco & Comfort modes can be selected by button number 3 (Figure1) -Either E symbol for Eco mode or C symbol for Comfort mode, appears on LCD (Figure 2) -Factory set is Comfort and Winter mode. System Pressure There is a valve placed bottom right side of boiler to fill the radiators with water. To fill the system, press reset button for 2 seconds to see the pressure value of the system on the screen, then turn the valve counter-clockwise direction and fill the system till the pressure value reaches between 1 and 2 bar, close the filling valve by turning clockwise direction. There is a pressure difference between digital and analog manometer due to dynamic pressure.so, if you are filling the system according to analog manometer before working, keep the pressure level between 1and 1,5 bars. (Figure 3, Figure 9) Figure 10 When new water is added to a central heating system, a certain amount of air also enters the system. As air will rise in water, it will collect at high points in the system, this is especially noticeable within radiators. With the central heating switched on, feel the top and then the bottom of the radiator - if the top is noticeably cooler than the bottom, there is a good likelihood that there is air in the radiator. 1. With warm water in the radiator, switch off the Central Heating system. 2. Fit a bleed key onto the bleed valve (this is usually at the top at one end of the radiator - on some designs of radiator, it may be at the back). 3. Loosely wrap a piece of old cloth around the key to catch any expelled water. 4. Open the bleed valve by turning the bleed a 1/2 turn counter clockwise - hissing of air being expelled will normally be heard. 5. When water starts to dribble out of the valve, close the valve by turning the key a 1/2 turn clockwise. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. 6. If the Central Heating system is a sealed system, check the pressure and, if neces sary, top up the pressure as required. Figure 9 32
