About the Team Live Services (LS) provides high quality IT services to Home Office Technology customers by - Providing our users with the tools they need to access and engage with services, including a Technology Service Desk, product portals and collaboration tools. Providing professional Service Management & Integration, including effective operational control, service performance and supplier management processes. Delivering the technical Service Support capabilities required to operate our platforms, applications and toolsets. Maintaining the Operational Security of our live services. Controlling the Service Architecture and lifecycle management of our services. Providing effective Business Management to ensure that Live Services operates as a highly effective organisation. Responsibilities and Accountabilities The job holder has specific responsibility to: Supporting in-house technologies, monitoring, managing and maintaining the security platforms; management of vulnerability and application scanning, and cyber threat analysis. Recognising attempts at intrusion through review and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information. Consulting IT teams regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications and operating systems. Assisting implementation of counter measures. Assessing and Implementing Security Changes and Releases To respond to and act upon operational issues within a Technical Support Service environment. To triage and progress Network, Cloud and Security Incidents. To provide fault diagnosis and troubleshooting with escalation to Resolver Groups as required. To understand and follow ITIL V3 Disciplines; Incident, Problem, Change and Asset Management within a Government Department. To be flexible and adaptable to learning new technologies.

3 Essential Criteria You will need to demonstrate within your application the following essential experience Significant relevant experience administrating the direction, development, implementation and operation of IT Security solutions. Experience of Firewalls configurations and operations: Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Juniper, Palo Alto Experience of Internet Gateway Mail and Web Filters. SIEM System understanding and experience Knowledge of Technical Standards creation and review Experience of working with 3rd party Penetration Testing vendors and security partners Knowledge of Threat Management and Vulnerability Assessments Knowledge of Local Area Networking (LAN) and Wide Area Networking (WAN) technologies Understanding of a switched architecture and its workings (DNS, DHCP, Security, IP Switching/Routing, HTTP, VPN, etc.) Experience in Security Device Management, Network Security and Zoning, Security Monitoring, Host Protection. Knowledge of Local Area Networking (LAN) and Wide Area Networking (WAN) technologies. Desirable Experience ITIL v3 foundation PRINCE 2 Network qualifications - CCNA minimum. Knowledge of Cloud Based Architecture. Understanding of PKI and SSL/TLS. Knowledge of Messaging, Database, Cloud, Virtualisation, Web and Internet Technologies.. 4 Selection process details An initial sift of your CV will be conducted against the Essential Criteria. If your CV demonstrates experience of these essential criteria you will be contacted to arrange a telephone based screen. The telephone screen will further assess your experience against the Essential Criteria and will be carried out by Experis at a time to be agreed with you. If you successfully complete this stage of the process your application will be progressed to the next stage. The applicants with the best skills and experience will be invited to interview, where you will be required to provide evidence as to how you meet the above competencies and technical requirements. Interviews may include an additional assessment exercise or presentation exercise. Reserve Lists If we receive applications from more suitable candidates than we have vacancies at this time, we may hold suitable applicants on a reserve list for 12 months, and future vacancies in the Civil Service requiring the same skills and experience could be offered to candidates on the reserve list without a new competition. Allowances Successful candidates with exceptional skills & experience may be paid at the top end of the salary scale and may also receive a Recruitment & Retention Allowance. This allowance is dependent on skills and experience which will be assessed against the Recruitment & Retention Allowance criteria at interview. This allowance is subject to annual review in line with departmental priorities and could be reduced or withdrawn at any time
