3 Course Description In this course, students will study the first 22 prophetic traditions of Imam Nawawi s world renowned 40 hadith collection and its addendum by Ibn Rajab. Students will focus on understanding the matn (text) with brief glimpses into the sanad (chain of narration) when necessary. This course will be shaped by Imam Ibn Rajab s master piece explanation, Jami Al- Ulum wa Al-Hikah and will include a critical analysis of one of its more recent translations.
