Duration of Lessons and the Course Levels In Spain and Mexico the lessons in groups are 50 minutes long, 45 in Costa Rica. There are at least 4 different levels of learning in each center. Flexible Calendar Courses start every week, but we recommend that beginners start every 4 weeks. You may enroll for a period of 2 to 34 weeks in courses with 15 to 30 lessons a week. Preparation for Official Exams E.I. prepares students for the two main Spanish exams: 1. Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE), the only official language certificate offered by the Spanish government for international students. 2. 7 Teachers and Methodology THE LEARNING CURVE Progressive Learning A 3-month intensive course at E.I. is equivalent to almost 3 years of study (2 hours a week) in your own country. Your immersion in the Spanish language and culture, combined with the quality of E.I. courses, will help you from the very first day. The best way to learn a language is to speak, listen, read and think it as much as possible. In the E.I. schools, this can be done in a fun and creative way. COURSE PROGRESS LEVEL C3 C2 C1 Advanced In this level the student can understand television programs and movies with ease, can express themselves fluently and precisely in any conversation, and is capable of producing clear, well-structured, detailed text with logical arguments and cohesion. Communicative Method The communicative method adapts to your needs. In the elementary level you learn to make yourself understood in everyday situations such as shopping, speaking with friends, making requests,...the teacher coordinates the lessons in such a way that you are encouraged to actively participate. In the higher levels, the student develops the capacity for precise and effective discourse. You will be amazed at your own progress and will easily be able to ask for explanations and justify your decisions. Course Dates We offer courses year round. If you already have some knowledge of Spanish, you can begin any Monday. If you are a complete beginner and are going to study in Spain, we recommend that you start at the beginning of each course (see the dates in the enclosed form). B3 B2 B1 A3 A2 A1 Intermediate The student is able to participate in longer conversations, provide arguments and give an opinion with clarity, can understand well structured discourse without difficulty, and is able to produce clear, detailed, written texts and explain advantages and disadvantages of a point of view. Elementary In this level the student is capable of understanding simple conversations, communicating in basic everyday situations and writing short texts such as notes or personal letters. Course levels adapted to European norms The E.I. levels are adapted to the Common European Union Framework for Languages, which establish 6 different courses called A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. Continuous Evaluation of Your Progress in Spain The professors continuously monitor your progress. With a test every week, you will notice your improvement and your instructor can easily see which areas need reinforcement. Exams are held every year in May and November, with an additional extraordinary convocation in August.
