3 Upper Montclair Country Club~ Clifton, New Jersey History and Tradition At the turn of the 20th Century, a small group of golfers playing on a rudimentary 5 hole golf course in a Montclair meadow merged with a social organization called the Upper Ten Club. Thus was formed the Upper Montclair Country Club. By the early 1920 s, after land had been acquired in the area of the present site, the legendary A.W. Tillinghast designed an 18 hole golf course. In the 1950 s a major course renovation was directed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. which transformed the Upper Montclair Country Club into the present 27 hole Championship design. Upper Montclair Country Club is one of only a few country clubs world wide known to have hosted tournaments for all three Professional Golf Associations. Hall of Famers Gene Littler, Arnold Palmer, Nancy Lopez, Pat Bradley, Lee Trevino and Ray Floyd have all won titles at UMCC. Upper Montclair Country Club is a Member oriented golf and country club, committed to providing Members the finest golf courses and a great food and beverage program. Clubhouse The elegant Upper Montclair Clubhouse, originally constructed in the 1920ʹs, has been constantly enlarged and renovated through the years, to produce a special combination of timeless luxury. The clubhouse features the perfect setting for your every want, from fine dining in the West lounge to the more relaxed atmosphere of the patio, you are sure to be impressed at every turn. The Members Bar at UMCC was rated one of the 50 best 19th holes in America by Golf Digest. Upper Montclair is located only 12 miles from Manhattan, New York.

4 Internship Experience Upper Montclair Country Club takes the fundamentals and theory provided in the classroom and applies them to practical situations. Employees will engage in a multitude of functions specific to the hospitality industry, and learn creative techniques, programs and processes. Such hands on experience will set you far apart from your less fortunate colleagues. This will be the Club s fifth year offering internship opportunities for hospitalitydriven students. Motivated students eager to gain work experience in a challenging and professional environment are best suited for the Club. Our team of highlyexperienced professionals will work closely with students to ensure that their internship goals are achieved. Students are required to work 5 6 days per week (weekends included), with one (1) to two (2) days off based on business levels and season. Ninety percent of this internship is in the F&B Department (Catering, Member Events, A la Carte, Outdoor Beverage Cart Operation) however students may also gain work experience in the following areas: Administrative/Front Desk Operations Event planning The opportunity to experience working the front desk and operate the switchboard as well as undertake responsibilities like data input for the accounts department are an example of other roles available for internship students to experience. Developing phone skills and computer skills are examples of some of the skills that will be touched on in this role.

5 Intern Housing Housing will be offered at discounted rates. The Club will arrange all accommodations and rental fees. Accommodations are off property, located 10 to 15 minutes walking distance from the Club. One and two bedroom apartments will be secured each season. Apartments are equipped with in room AC, wireless high speed internet access, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker and microwave. Other additional services include on premises laundry service. Each individual will be deducted $135 /per week. That is inclusive of all amenities mentioned above. During a twelve months internship, the Club will cover the rent for the month of January. The Club will be completely closed for the month of January and will reopen first Friday in February. During this period (January), interns are welcome to travel. Apartment building entry way / living room / kitchen and dining area

6 Internship Experience in F&B Department As previously stated the majority of this internship opportunity will be spent in the F&B Department, which can range from small intimate affairs, to large banquets, weddings, bar/bat mitzvah, sweet sixteen parties to memorable golf outings.

8 Members and Guests can utilize the spacious Ballroom, Travers Room, West Lounge, Patio, Terrace, which are available for private affairs, including weddings, holiday gatherings, anniversary celebrations, bridal showers, birthday parties and corporate events. Banquets can range from small, private dinners hosted in the West Lounge to large scale weddings in the Ballroom, accommodating up to 180 people. Functions would not be the same without mouthwatering cuisine prepared by Executive Chef Ryan Foo, C.E.C. and his talented Culinary Team. Members and their Guests enjoy how Chef Ryan creates masterful cuisine from family style buffets, to sumptuous a la carte entrées. Interns will also be able to see firsthand one of the greatest features this Club provides formal, family and casual dining; each demonstrating first class service. From fresh omelet stations on the weekends, to gourmet a la carte dinners in the evenings, to a Family Sunday BBQ Buffet Dinner, interns will gain experience in a multitude of dining options and learn how each one is equally important in providing first class service. Memorable golf outings can be arranged for corporate, celebrity and charitable golf outings. Outings held at the Club are clearly distinguished with the sensational cuisine and stunning presentations designed just for Members and their special Guests. 10 Internship Experience in Various Departments In order to fully understand the dynamics of the hospitality industry, one must learn how each and every department is an intricate piece of the entire operation. Everyone must work together to achieve the final product and provide excellent service to the Members and their Guests. That is why this internship experience gives students the opportunity to work with other departments, including but not limited to the following: As an intern you will also have the opportunity to work with and alongside our Food & Beverage Manager and Events Director. Roles within this area will include undertaking various jobs. As an intern here at the Club you will also have the opportunity to not only develop skills and apply them to your work, but to also experience many roles and undertake many responsibilities that will be an asset to your future career. Administrative/Front Desk Operations While covering the Front Desk, interns will learn the importance of offering the highest level of customer service and satisfaction to Members and their Guests. Commitment and attention to detail are of the greatest importance in this position. Fully understanding such fundamentals will make you most effective in the hospitality industry. Interns will also learn how to act as a liaison between departments, as well as, the importance of professional, courteous behavior. By working side by side with the Front Desk Attendant, students will learn and observe the day to day Club operations. This includes answering and directing calls, taking dining reservations and assisting the other Managers among other tasks.
