1 NPSS Nominations Committee Report Gerald Cooperstein, Chair Paris AdCom Meeting July 19, 2014 This summer we will be holding elections for the four elected members and one appointed member of AdCom whose terms will expire on December 31, They are Alberto Del Guerra (NMIS), Ed Lampo, (RI), Robert A. Reed, (RE), Robert Zwaska, (PAST) and Brendan Godfrey (PSAC). In addition, there will be four elections for Technical Committee elected members from Nuclear and Medical Imaging Sciences Council (NMISC), Plasma Science and Applications Committee (PSAC), Radiation Instrumentation Steering Committee (RISC), and the new elected committee, Particle Accelerator Science and Technology (PAST). All the candidates will appear on one electronic ballot, which was set up by IEEE HQs. The eligibility of all of the candidates has been verified by IEEE HQs and a sample of the ballot and cover letter is listed below. There will be an introduction page on the website that will list each election separately and require the voter to click a box stating that they are active in the TC for which they are voting in order to proceed to cast their vote in that TC's election. Ballots may also still be sent in by mail or fax. Each TC holding AdCom elections have identified a list of eligible candidates for their single slot and their bios and candidates statements have been sent to IEEE HQs. RE and PAST each have 2 candidates, NMISC has 3 and RI has 4. Each TC holding member elections have identified a list of eligible candidates and their bios and candidate statements have also been submitted to IEEE HQs. NMISC has 8 candidates for 5 slots, PSAC ExCom has 11 candidates for 6 slots, RISC has 9 candidates for 5 slots, and PAST has 13 candidates for 7 slots. The ballots will soon be posted on the website for testing by the various election committees and TC chairs. Notification of the election will be sent out to all NPSS members by the beginning of August, when the election will start, with instructions pointing them to the website and an explanation of how to determine which elections they should be voting in. Reminders will be sent to voters that have not voted in late August and early September. The voting will close on September 19th and we should have the results by September 26 th so that the newly elected members can be invited to their respective committee meetings in the fall. Most importantly, this summer we will be holding elections for a new AdCom Vice President and for a new AdCom president who most likely will be our present Vice President unless a majority indicate that an open election is desirable. We again have four excellent AdCom VP candidates, Stefan Ritt, Alberto Del Guerra, Steven H. Gold, and Edward J. Lampo. By now, all of the voting members should have received the candidate s bios and statements. Each candidate can give a short presentation at the end of this meeting, with the other candidates not present, about why they want to become NPSS President, and then answer questions from the committee. The ballots will be sent to all voting members of AdCom for return to the Secretary of AdCom 30 days prior to the final AdCom meeting of the year at NSS/MIC in Seattle, WA on November 15, 2014 where our Secretary will announce the winner.

Note that this is the first opportunity for the membership of the Particle Accelerator Science and Technology (PAST) Committee to elect members to their ExCom. All biographical sketches are available on the NPS Society website.
