To qualify for an F Endorsement, you must first hold a FULL class drivers licence other than a motorcycle. Next slide weight & size hazards reduce risks driving test

3 legal stuff 2 of 5 *An "OSH" Certificate is the historic name for the record of training that was issued to forklift operators trained by an OSH registered instructor prior to In May 2007, Competenz became responsible for the auditing and registering of forklift trainers under the Approved Code of Practice for Training Operators and Instructors of Powered Industrial Lift Trucks (Forklifts). Competenz is the trading name of New Zealand Engineering, Food and Manufacturing Industry Training Organisation The Code of Practice outlines a minimum standard of training that should be provided by forklift owners, managers and trainers of forklift operators. 7 weight & size 1 of 7 Dimensions Forklifts used on the road are bound by the same maximum dimensions as heavy rigid vehicles. The maximum dimensions without a permit are as follows; hazards reduce risks driving test

8 weight & size 2 of 7 Yes it s the same rule that applies to trucks and any other vehicle that will be driven on a road! Maximum 2.5 metres or 1.25m from the longitudinal centre line of the vehicle. 13 weight & size 7 of 7 Licences and vehicle weight A driver of a forklift with a class one licence plus F endorsement can operate a forklift with a gross laden weight up to 18,000kgs. 14 major factors 1 of 4 Factors that may affect safety A faulty forklift can contribute to an accident. Always inspect your forklift to make sure it is safe to operate. Also check that the WoF and rego are current and that it can be legally driven on a public road, to avoid infringement fines. weight & size reduce risks driving test

15 major factors 2 of 4 Environmental factors Environmental factors can contribute to a forklift accident. Road conditions Stability may be affected by camber, gradient or uneven and rough surfaces such as potholes Light conditions may reduce visibility. E.g. sunstrike, overcast or fading light and night time. weight & size reduce risks driving test

16 major factors 3 of 4 Environmental factors Weather conditions Reduced friction on rain wet surface may affect steering and braking resulting in loss of control. Other road users including traffic or pedestrians may be distracting or act unpredictably. weight & size reduce risks driving test

17 major factors 4 of 4 Driving with a load When driving with a load, the same hazards exist as when unloaded however, the load can also create a risk. Ensure the load does not block your vision. Remember that loads must be secured to the vehicle when travelling on a public road. weight & size reduce risks driving test

18 reduce the risks 1 of 3 Precautions when loading or unloading trucks Make sure the truck is parked in a safe and level position. The truck driver must remain in a safe and visible position. Always look out for traffic and pedestrians. Use a safety person if required. All involved should use hi-viz vests to improve visibility. weight & size hazards driving test
