It applies to version 1.0 of the Connected Farm application. Product Warranty Information For applicable product warranty information, please refer to the Warranty Card included with this product, or consult your Trimble reseller. 2 Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide
Introduction The Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide provides: A high-level explanation of the product functionality. Tips for connecting to the Connected Farm web application online. Suggestions on how you can best use the product. Product overview The Connected Farm web application is used to manage equipment and precision agriculture data received from a range of vehicles and implements. You can access it through an Internet browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. The Connected Farm web application combines the ability to interact in a web browser and a secure, sophisticated, back-end system that resides in the Internet "cloud": Use the Connected Farm web application to name and organize your vehicles. First establish a connection to a vehicle s on-board communication device, such as the DCM-300 modem. Once the connection is established, the back-end system can receive information from that vehicle. Do this for your entire fleet. The back-end system processes the vehicle data into secure databases where you can access the data on demand. Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide 3
Screen layout The Connected Farm web application user interface has the following functionality: A top-level menu gives you access to actions that the application can perform: All Fields: Tap All Fields to select a particular field from the list. The selected field will be used to filter data in the Scouting and Boundary layers. Scouting Layer: In this layer, select to view different types of scouting data that was collected with the Connected Farm app. 4 Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide
Boundary Layer: In this layer, select to view boundaries for particular fields. Equipment Layer: This layer lists all of your vehicles. Select the vehicle check box to view it in the equipment list: Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide 5
Working with Vehicle Manager Equipment layer In the Equipment Layer, you can organize your fleet by vehicle type and name vehicles as required. To add a new vehicle, click New Machine. You can name and classify the machine and select a suitable icon. Most importantly, you can associate the DCM-300 device providing the telematics data. This is also where you can set up productivity tracking, which is explained in detail in Delay and Productivity, page 14. To do this, select the serial number of the DCM-300 modem from the Telematics Device dropdown list: Note Although only vehicles equipped with a modem can communicate with the system, you can add vehicles that "run silent." To view more details on a vehicle, select the vehicle check box. The vehicle appears in the equipment list below the map, which shows its last reported status, and also appears on the map. You can zoom in to any vehicle on the map and click the vehicle s status balloon. 6 Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide
Equipment list When a vehicle appears in the equipment list below the map, its name is a link. Click the link to open a pop-up window with more detailed information. Machine Properties Click Machine Properties to update information on the vehicle, such as Name, Type and Telematics Device. Calibrate Engine Hours Once you have added a vehicle, select the Calibrate Engine Hours option and then enter the Current Engine Hours of the vehicle, if known. On devices where engine hours are tracked via a link to the R-terminal of the alternator, the base engine hours value is used as a starting point for engine hours to be tracked going forward. When engine hours are received from both the CAN (Controller Area Network) bus and the R-terminal, the CAN value takes precedence. Update Location Click Update Location to update the Previous Location Map with the latest position for the vehicle. Note The DCM-300 modem must be activated and turned on for this to happen. Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide 7
Equipment details If you select a date range in the Previous Locations tab, a bread crumbs trail appears on the map, showing where the vehicle has been over the date range. If you select a broad range, such as several months, the 500 most recent breadcrumbs are shown. The Dashboard tab displays a graphic that illustrates the last-known operational status of the machine. Because operating frequency depends on the level of the service plan, ranging from every five minutes to every fifteen minutes for machines that are powered on, this is not a precise and instantaneous view. Some values, such as the engine RPM, are the last known. Others, such as average fuel consumption, are computed across the previous reporting interval. 8 Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide
Alerts The Connected Farm web application has an alert mechanism that warns you when a vehicle requires immediate attention: Use a geofence alert to be notified when a vehicle has entered or left a closed boundary that you defined. Use a curfew alert to be notified when a vehicle ignition is turned on during the off-hours you defined. Select the Alerts tab. Any existing Geofence or Curfew alerts are listed on the left. All current machines and their associated alerts appear on the right-hand side of the screen: Select the Equipment tab (at the bottom of the Alerts screen) to narrow down the machines that appear on the right-hand side. Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide 9
To update or review your alerts, select the Edit icon next to an existing alert. The program allows you to enter an address for the alert. Alerts may also be sent as a text if you enter the address for the text functionality on your phone. 10 Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide
Geofence Alerts 1. From the Alert screen, click New Geofence Alert. 2. In the Geofence Alert screen enter a Name for the alert. This is the name that will appear in the main screen of the Alert tab. 3. Select a time zone from the drop-down list and then select a contact name from the Contacts section. If there are no contacts listed, click Manage Contacts and then select Add: a. Enter a Name. b. Select the required Notification Type. Standard uses an address and sends notification; Mobile (Custom) requires a mobile ( ) number and sends a text message directly to a phone. c. Select the correct Language. d. Based on the Notification Type you selected in Step b, enter an address or mobile number. e. To verify the address/mobile number, click Test Select the machine or machines that this geofence should be associated with. If the alert applies to all machines, select the All Assets radio button. 5. Select Site Exit and /or Site Entry to trigger the geofence alerts. Note For each geofence alert you can select to trigger the alarm for entry to or exit from a boundary, or both. Exit triggers can be used to signal completion of work in a given area or to signal possible misappropriation of a vehicle from its area of use. Entry triggers can be used to signal if a vehicle has entered a restricted area. 6. In the Geofences section of the screen select the corresponding geofence boundary. If no geofence is listed, click Manage Geofences and then select Add. Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide 11
7. Click the map to create a point to start the geofence. Continue this at intervals around the area that you want to geofence until the area is enclosed. To remove the last point you placed, click Remove Last Point; to remove all the points you placed, click Remove All Points: 8. Click Save to record the information and return to the main Alert screen or click Cancel to disregard changes. 12 Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide
Curfew alerts 1. From the Alert screen, click New Curfew Alert. 2. In the Curfew Alert screen enter a Name for the alert. This is the name that will appear in the main screen of the Alert tab. 3. Select a time zone from the drop-down list and then select a contact name from the Contacts section. If there are no contacts listed, click Manage Contacts and then select Add: a. Enter a Name. b. Select the required Notification Type. Standard uses an address and sends notification; Mobile (Custom) requires a mobile ( ) number and sends a text message directly to a phone. c. Select the correct Language. d. Based on the Notification Type you selected in Step b, enter an address or mobile number. e. To verify the address/mobile number, click Test Select the machine or machines that this alert should be associated with. It the alert applies to all machines select the All Assets radio button. 5. Select a time period for each day of the week that the vehicle may be turned on. The alert will be triggered if the ignition is turned on outside the defined working hours. 6. Click OK to record the information and return to the main Alert screen. Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide 13
Fleet reports To view a Location or Engine Hours report, select the appropriate option from the Reports menu. These reports give the last reported values for each vehicle. To view a Fuel Level or Utilization report, select the appropriate option, then select the vehicles to report on and the required date range. The Machine Sensors report allows you to select the equipment and a date range. You can also select which sensor to display on the report. Click Preview to view, save, or print the report. Delay and Productivity Delay and Productivity works with a DCM-300 modem (required) to keep track of the status and productivity of any vehicle. When the DCM-300 modem is paired with an FmX integrated display, it can keep track of the reason for delays in movement, as the operator is prompted to enter a Delay Reason whenever they are not working, moving, or traveling. This area includes reports to help assess the productivity of your vehicles and provide delay reason histories. To activate the Delay Productivity feature: 1. Select Machine Properties for the correct vehicle. 2. Select Enable Productivity Tracking. ConnectedFarm.com sends the required information to the DCM-300 modem associated with this vehicle. This enables the modem to log the required information. 3. Select Use Implement Switch if the DCM-300 modem will be used with an Implement Switch. An implement switch can be used to distinguish working hours from moving hours (where working hours are determined by the time that the switch is enabled). 4. Click OK to save the changes. 14 Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide
Vehicle Productivity State Summary Idle Time Delayed Time Moving Time Working Time Traveling Time Speeding Time This starts when a vehicle is powered up and ends when it moves beyond the threshold. Whenever the speed reported by the DCM-300 modem drops below the Stopped Speed threshold for the Stopped Time threshold, the vehicle is considered Delayed. If an FmX display is used, the driver is prompted to select a Delay reason. When the vehicle speed reported by the modem drops below the Traveling Speed threshold for the Traveling Time threshold, the vehicle is considered to be Moving. If an implement switch is used and it is engaged, the vehicle is considered to be Working. When the vehicle speed reported by the modem goes above the Traveling Speed threshold for the Traveling Time threshold, the vehicle is considered to be Traveling. When the vehicle speed (as reported by the DCM) goes above the Speeding Speed threshold for the Speeding Time threshold, the vehicle is considered by be Speeding. The vehicle can only be speeding when it is traveling (it cannot be speeding when Working or Moving). Examples 1. The driver starts up the vehicle. The DCM-300 modem sends the date/time with a status of Idling. 2. The driver starts to move the vehicle. The modem detects that the vehicle has moved, and the status of the implement switch, if used: If the Implement Switch is off and the Speed is above the Traveling Speed threshold for the vehicle, the modem keeps track of the time as Traveling. If the driver is moving in the field but is not working, the modem detects that the speed is below the Traveling Speed threshold and that the implement switch is off. The modem keeps track of the time as Moving. If an implement switch is not used, and the modem detects that the speed is below the Traveling Speed threshold for the Traveling Time threshold, the modem keeps track of the time as Moving. Note If an implement switch is not being used, no time will be logged as Working. 3. The driver engages the implement (with the implement switch turned on). The modem detects that the implement switch is on and keeps track of the time as Working. 4. The operator stops the vehicle. The modem detects the speed. If the speed falls below the Stopped Speed threshold, it instructs the FmX display to prompt the user to select the Delay reason from a predefined list. Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide 15
The modem keeps track of the time as Delayed and logs the selected reason. 5. The driver starts working again (with the implement switch on), and the modem keeps track of the time as Working. 6. The driver starts speeding. Speeding is meant only for speeding while traveling; not while working in the field. The modem detects that the speed has exceeded the Speed threshold, and the modem keeps track of the time as Speeding. When the driver finishes, the Connected Farm software can report: Total Time Idling Total Time Traveling Total Time Working Total Time Speeding Total time logged with each Delay Reason Total Time Moving Note Working time is calculated only if you have an implement switch. If you are not using an implement switch, the system logs Moving, which is the nearest available option to Working. Reports To access the reports, select the Reports option from the Connected Farm Web Application. The options are Machine Delay Summary or Machine Productivity Summary. 16 Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide

Working with data from the Connected Farm App Scouting layer The Connected Farm app is available for some Apple IOS and Android phones and tablets. The app can be used for creating scouting and field boundary maps that contain useful information. Data collected with the app will be sent wirelessly to the Connected Farm software, where it can be viewed and analyzed. The Scouting Layer will display scouting features logged with the Connected Farm App. Select the particular scouting features you want to display on the Map screen. By default, everything is selected and displayed on the map. To ensure that a feature is no longer displayed on the map, clear the check box from the feature. Click All Fields to select a particular field name and only see the features logged for that field. 18 Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide
Boundary layer The Boundary layer displays the boundaries logged with the Connected Farm app. Click All Fields and then select a specific field to see the boundary on the Map. If both the Boundary Layer and Scouting Layer are selected, you will see both the boundary and any scouting features selected on the map. Connected Farm Web Application Quick Start Guide 19
