2 Company Overview UNIQLO is a modern Japanese company that inspires the world in casual dress. UNIQLO has enjoyed a strong growth by offering high-quality casualwear at reasonable prices based on its SPA (Specialty store retailer of Private label Apparel) business model, which spans product design, manufacturing, distribution and retail. The first UNIQLO store opened in In 1998, our fleece campaign sparked a UNIQLO boom across Japan. First venturing into international markets in 2001, UNIQLO now has worldwide operations, which includes the United Kingdom, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, the United States, France, Singapore, Russia, Taiwan and Malaysia. In 2011, UNIQLO opened worldwide flagship stores in Taipei, Seoul and in New York's prestigious Fifth Avenue, and in 2012 in San Francisco, as part of a plan to expand our businesses worldwide. By the end of August 2012, we had more than 1100 stores across the globe. UNIQLO is part of the Fast retailing Group, which owns other great brands like the women's fashion label Comptoir des Cotonniers, the French lingerie and lounge wear/swimwear label Princesse Tam Tam and the U.S. fashion label Theory. 4 Becoming a business leader with the UNIQLO Manager Candidate Program Through a one-year unique training both in Europe and in Japan, our UNIQLO Manager Candidate program (UMC) will prepare you to take on many roles : as an innovator, as a talent developer, as a problem solver and above all, as a global business leader. Program Timeline TRAINING IN EUROPE Shop floor basics (4 months) Main responsibilities to include : People Management Recruit, motivate, develop and manage a team of more than one hundred people. Sales and profit management Deliver UNIQLO's fundamental principles of customer service. Manage store sales and profitability. TRAINING IN JAPAN Culture/Japanese Customer Service (3 months) TRAINING IN EUROPE Management (4 months) FINAL EXAM Complete UMC programme ASSIGNMENT IN EUROPE OR OVERSEAS Inventory Management Stock Management. Merchandising. Develop a global perspective Thrive in an international work environment. Throughout the program, the training is based on store exercises and in-class courses.
