1 1 What is the MKIII Gas Coal Effect. This coal effect is the latest development from the Euroheat research and development department. In conjunction with the latest ceramic material development and combustion technology have resulted in improved proformance. The Mark III coal effect kit has been designed to fit all gas stove models distributed by Euroheat from 1998 onwards. This kit is easily recognisable by the horse shoe shaped coal which fits onto the rear coal matrix block, and are fitted on stoves sold from the 2nd December It has been designed to use the same components in all the stoves with additional support plates dependant upon the stove model. The main kit comprises of: Rear Coal Support Plate Loose Coals including the distinctive horse shoe coal. 1,2,3,6 & 7 Large coals 4,5 & 9 Small coals 8 Horse shoe coal Rear Coal Matrix Front Coal Matrix

2 2 Air Collar Requirements The Mark III coal effect kit requires a different air collar adjustment than that specified in the installation instructions where the Mark 11 coal kit was fitted. 3 3 Air Collar Adjustment The air collar will be found behind the burner bar once the old rear coal support plate has been removed and the sdjustment should be made prior to fitting the new rear support plate. The air collar can be adjusted by loosening the screws and sliding the collar to give the desired gap. This should be checked using a cylindrical bar of the required width. X X

4 4 Fitting of the New Rear Coal Support. The rear coal support should fit tightly up to the burner bar. This is achieved by following the instructions below. On the underside of the support plate is a gas guide. The two side arms should be adjusted outwards so that when the support plate is put into position the gas guide locks the plate securely. Left and right gas guide arms Pull the two gas guide arms towards the edge of the coal support plate. They will then engage against the burner when fitted into position. View beneith the coal support plate when fitted up to the burner.

5 5 Adjusting the Rear Coal Support Plate The rear coal support plate has an adjustable sliding plate. This should be adjusted so that the plate is pushed as far back against the rear of the combustion box as it can go, so locking the plate against the burner. Loosen screws on top of the support plate. Slide adjustment plate back against the rear of the combustion box. Rear of combustion chamber

6 6 Fitting of the Coal Effect Kit The coal effect kit can be fitted with the loose coals in two positions dependant upon the desired flame pattern. Firstly the rear coal matrix must be positioned with its front edge inline with the front edge of the coal support plate. The front coal matrix is the fitted by first fitting the fuel effect guard and then placing the matrix behind the guard with its front edge touching the guard. The horse shoe shaped coal and one of the small coals can then be placed onto the rear coal matrix. The coals placed infront of the front coal matrix will give an unbroken curtain of flame. The front of the rear coal matrix and the two ends of the horse shoe coal will glow. The coals placed across from the front coal matrix to the back matrix will give a broken flame pattern. The front of the rear coal matrix, the sides of the loose coals and the two ends of the horse shoe coal will glow.

7 7 Instructions for: Harmony 5 conventional flue: Harmony 5 balanced flue: Stanford 50 conventional flue: Stanford 50 balanced flue: ) Remove the fuel effect guard, loose coals, front and rear coal matrix and the rear coal support plate. 2) Check the air collar adjustment is set to the required distance from the table on page 2. Adjust if necessary. 3) Fit the new rear coal support plate as described on pages 4 and 5. 4) Fit the new rear coal matrix. 5) Replace the original fuel effect guard. 6) Fit the new front coal matrix so that the outer edge is in contact with the inside of the guard ) Place the loose coals as described on page 6. The layout to suit the desired flame pattern. 8) Light the stove and observe the flame pattern. 9) Adjust the coals, if they are bridging from front to back, to produce an even flame picture.

8 8 Instructions for: Insert FB50 conventional flue Insert FB50 1) Remove the fuel effect guard, loose coals, front and rear coal matrix. 2) Remove the screws (required later) securing the complete coal support plate and the rear coal support braket. (see oposite) 3) Check the air collar adjustment is set to the required distance from the table on page 2. Adjust if necessary. 4) Fit the new front coal support plate using the screws removed earlier. 5) Fit the new rear coal support plate as described on pages 4 and 5. 6) Fit the new rear coal matrix. 7) Replace the original fuel effect guard. 8) Fit the new front coal matrix so that the outer edge is in contact with the inside of the guard ) Place the loose coals as described on page 6. The layout to suit the desired flame pattern. 8) Light the stove and observe the flame pattern. 9) Adjust the coals, if they are bridging from front to back, to produce an even flame picture.

Adjust if necessary. 3) Fit the rear coal support plate braket to the back of the firebox using the two existing screws. 4) Fit the new front coal support using the existing screws from the original support plate. page 4 and 5. 5) Fit the rear coal support plate as shown on 6) Fit the new fuel effect guard. 7) Place the loose coals as described on page 6. The layout to suit the desired flame pattern. 8) Light the stove and observe the flame pattern. 9) Adjust the coals, if they are bridging from front to back, to produce an even flame picture.

Adjust if necessary. 3) Fit the rear coal support plate braket to the back of the firebox using the two existing screws. 4) Fit the new front coal support using the existing screws from the original support plate. 5) Fit the rear coal support plate as shown on page 4 and 5. 6) Fit the new fuel effect guard. 7) Place the loose coals as described on page 6. The layout to suit the desired flame pattern. 8) Light the stove and observe the flame pattern. 9) Adjust the coals, if they are bridging from front to back, to produce an even flame picture.
