COMFORT AND BEAUTY IN LINEN
About us Linomeda is a home textile manufacturer of high quality items from linen and linen blends. The company is based in Plunge, Lithuania. With many years of experience in linen production industry, Linomeda produces hundreds of different linen items under customer private labels and also produce under individual customized orders. Linomeda focuses on high quality of all its products, delivery and process administration which is reached through: thorough selection and checking of fabrics; professional and experienced staff; strict quality procedures for each step of production cycle; customer-oriented corporate culture throughout the company. Lithuania is known for its ancient linen production traditions and Linomeda has adopted the very best The manufacturing techniques include hand and machine hemstitching, sewing, embroidering, weaving and knitting. Designing of a product, production of samples, sourcing and purchasing of packing materials, logistics solutions and other services are provided at the customer s request. Linomeda was established as family business in 1996 in Plunge, Lithuania and has been run by the family ever since. Before founding Linomeda, the owner of the company had been working in linen production industry for over 25 years. Extensive experience, professional staff and continuous focus on the quality and customer needs helped Linomeda to grow and build the reputation of a trustworthy business partner. Having started with a first customer in Denmark (Jorgen Hoyer) in 1996, today Linomeda has more than 70 international clients. Companies such as Dibbern, Area and many other well known European an US home textile wholesalers and retailers are among the customers. Every January Linomeda presents its new collections and ideas for linen home textiles in Heimtextil, held in Frankfurt, Germany.
Handmade hemstitching Hemstitching is a form of drawn thread embroidery, when a section of parallel threads are removed from the fabric, and the remaining perpendicular threads are grouped together with additional thread to make small ornamental holes in the fabric. These holes are often patterned to form designs that resemble lace. Linomeda uses hand hemstitching as ornamentation for tablecloths, napkins and other table linen items. The basic hemstitch involves grouping the threads on only one side of the open gap, but there are many varieties of hemstitch and numerous possible variations on this technique. According to the customer s needs, special designs of hemstitching can be created and used. Linomeda is proud of its exceptional quality hand made products. Experienced staff cut fabric by by thread, and then draws threads out, hemstitch the product, iron it and pack. Hand work ensure every item is dedicated most attention possible.
Sewing Sewing is one of the oldest of the textile arts, arising in the Paleolitic Era. Linomeda practises several sewing techniques and each has been perfected during many years of exprerience. Plain sewing: sewing of seams by simple and common stitches. Mitered corners: the corner is turned under, folded, and stitched evenly at a 45 degree angle. Piping: cord encased in fabric and attached to the edge of a garment to add a finished look. Double border: used for bigger pieces of tablecloths wide borders are made of double layered fabric.
Embroidering Embroidery is widely used in the textile industry as an embellishment of a fabric or garment with a design made up entirely of different stitches sewn by needles. Embroidery produces a high quality finish, which does not deteriorate with washing. Otherwise dull and simple textile item becomes enlivened by decorative stitches, ornaments, patterns or even pictures. Modern automatic embroidery machine used by Linomeda can perform any embroidering design a customer orders and also allows to embroider large quantities of items. Intricate designs, such as heraldic crests, as well as clear cut simple logos will all embroider well. There is a possibility to embroider fabric sheets as well as ready-made items pieces of table linen, bed linen, clothing, towels etc. The main advantages of embroidery against other embellishment (printed) techniques are these: embroidery is permanent, it does not fade, does not peel off, and moreover, with Linomeda embroidery is not expensive either. Embroidery also provides a professional appearance to any garment or textile item, especially when combined with other decoration techniques.
Hand weaving Linen industry old-timer Linomeda possesses two ancient weaving looms each more than 100 years old! They are a real treasure as there are not many such devices left in the industry. The looms are used for producing handmade carpets, rugs, scarves, curtains etc. Such technology creates the exquisite beauty of fine Lithuanian linen. Weaving with a loom is 100% hand work, which allows creating any design desired, e.g. carpets are woven using ancient traditional patterns. Weaving with hand loom it is possible to use linen yarns of various length as well as scraps and pieces of fabrics. Thus using and preserving every gift from nature, beautiful and unique designs from linen yarns and fabrics are created. Products, made by hand loom are softer than machine-woven as the threads are not pressed so tightly together. It is even possible to replicate the nature patterns and create a cobweb-type curtains or scarves luxury ones for those with a taste for hand work. Add bright and vibrant color from a wide assortment of available shades from Linomeda color palette, and the result will be a unique, sophisticated and luxurious item your client will adore! Expanding business and increasing the amounts of production, Linomeda nevertheless takes time and invests energy to preserve ancient techniques and use the experience of handmade linen production for contemporary lifestyles.
