5 en tr our story our brands our people our locations media centre news our world Ali Ülker Vice Chairman Assuming the role of Chief Innovation & Quality Officer in January 2016 with the company s launch, Ali is responsible for streamlining business performance across pladis. Ali was educated in the Business Administration Department of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. He has also attended various programs at the Institute for Management Development and Harvard. He joined Yildiz Holding in 1985 as an intern in the quality control department of Ülker Gıda. From 1986 he worked at chocolate production facilities and at Atlas Gıda Pazarlama, becoming General Director in In 2001 became the General Director of Merkez Gıda Pazarlama. In 2002, he was appointed vice chairman of the food group and in 2005 chairman of the group. Working as vice president of the Yıldız Holding Board of Directors since 2011, Ali Ülker is also the chairman of the Global Innovation Group and Quality Group and acts as Chief Synergies Officer. 8 World s loved brands unite to form new global snacking business Yildiz Holding, the largest food company in CEEMEA, has created a new company, pladis, further demonstrating the importance of Central and Eastern Europe s investment and business in the global economy. pladis, a global biscuits and confectionery company, brings together Yildiz Holding-owned companies across Europe, the USA and the Middle East. It is a consolidation of the brand portfolios under Ülker, Godiva, United Biscuits. pladis employs 26,000 people with annual revenues of US$5.2 billion, and is forecasting a minimum 15% annual revenue growth. In establishing pladis, Yildiz Holding has brought together these internationally recognised businesses under one roof and restructured its operations accordingly. pladis operates in three core regions, with each headed by a Regional CEO who is responsible for the manufacturing and commercial activities including production, distribution, sales and marketing of the full pladis brand portfolio within the region. The CEOs will work with the executive leadership team comprised of Yildiz Holding Executive Deputy Chairman, Dr Cem Karakaş, and Yildiz Holding Deputy Chairman, Ali Ülker, who will be responsible for the business execution, and innovation and quality, respectively. The long-term business strategy will focus on the southern hemisphere, where operations will expand in line with geographies predicting high population growth.
