1 COMMUNITY GRANTS BOOKLET Dr Anthony Lynham MP MEMBER FOR STAFFORD In June 2015, I hosted a Grants Informa on Workshop for local community and sports organisa ons at the Grange Bowls Club. This informa on booklet sums up some of the key points of the workshop and iden fies a number of poten al grants for local organisa ons. My office has strived to ensure all the informa on is accurate and to make the list of poten al grants as exhaus ve as possible. Please check with the grant providers for more up to date informa on on guidelines and due dates. - Anthony Grants workshop at Grange Bowls Club 2015 Queensland Government grants In June 2014, the Queensland Government published Queensland Government Grants, a summary of all grants available to Queenslanders and community groups. You can download a copy from my website ( queensland-government-grants) Youth Central ( government-info-assistance/youth-grants/ ps-forwri ng-grant-applica ons) is a Victorian Government service that provides ps for wri ng grant applica ons, including a step-by-step procedure to follow in the applica on process. Some useful websites The Queensland Government s Business and Industry Portal ( provides informa on for individual, businesses and community groups on how to apply for grants. The Funding Centre ( help/wri ng-grant) also provides a template for how to undertake a grant applica on. The template details each major stage in the applica on process, and a checklist for organisa ons to look at prior to commencing their applica on. The Australian Government s Department of Social Services ( ng-anapplica on) provides support for developing and submi ng an applica on. While the informa on is predominately referring to social services grants, this page provides general helpful informa on regarding prepara on of an applica on, guidance on how to address selec on criteria and relevant financial informa on.

2 Community grants Gambling community benefit fund ce.qld.gov.au/corporate/sponsorshipsand-grants/grants/community-benefit-fundingprograms The Gambling Community Benefit Fund distributes revenue from gaming taxes to not-for-profit community groups throughout Queensland. Grants of up to $35,000 are available. There are usually four grant rounds each year. The next rounds are: 31 August 2015, 30 November 2015, 28 February 2016, 31 May Caring for our community grants ons-volunteering/funding-grantsresources/community-grants These grants aim to assist community organisa ons and volunteer groups to purchase essen al equipment to con nue their support of Queensland communi es. This grant was ini ally set up as a one off, three year program. For more informa on call Economic partnership grants es.qld.gov.au/mul cultural These grants offer help to local government and non-government organisa ons to deliver projects that support economic independence and par cipa on for Queenslanders from culturally diverse backgrounds. To register interest in these grants fill in the online form es.qld.gov.au/mul cultural/ mul cultural-communi es/mul cultural-resourcedirectory/register-your-interest Valuing diversity grants program ons-volunteering/funding-grantsresources/valuing-diversity-grants These grants are awarded by the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Mul cultural Affairs they are for signature events that recognise and celebrate Queensland s cultural diversity. To register interest in these grants fill in the online form es.qld.gov.au/mul cultural/ mul cultural-communi es/mul cultural-resourcedirectory/register-your-interest Show socie es grant guideline/lg-grants/show-socie es-grant-programguidelines The show socie es grant program provides Queensland Government funding to show socie es towards the cost of running agricultural shows. Sports grants Get in the game grants There are a range of grants available for individual athletes and their families, clubs, and organisa ons. For more informa on visit on/sports/funding Grants include: Get started vouchers Provides funding to help young people who can lease afford it get involved in sport and recrea on ac vi es. Parents can apply for funds to help pay for club membership and par cipa on fees. Clubs can apply for the funds to help get young people involved in sport and recrea on ac vi es.

3 Sports grants con nued... Other sports grants Young athletes travel subsidy on-leisure/ young-athletes-travel-subsidy Provides help for young athletes and officials to travel to state, na onal and interna onal events. Get going clubs Provides up to $10,000 to help not-for-profit sport and recrea on clubs to purchase equipment, coaching accredita on, and promo ng the club. Get playing places and spaces program Provides up to $100,000 in funding for new or upgraded sport and recrea onal facility projects. Applicants need to contribute a minimum 20% of the project cost. Get playing plus program Is available for eligible councils and not-for-profit sport or recrea on organisa ons, with up to $1,500,000 to help improve infrastructure. Sport and recrea on disaster recovery program For not-for-profit sport and recrea on organisa ons to apply for up to $25,000 to reestablish clubs and facili es a er severe weather events. The Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority also offers support to help clubs recover from severe weather events. Visit Sport and recrea on industry development program Provides up to $300,000 in funding for state-wide programs, services and events that increase par cipa on in sport and ac ve recrea on. Support ranges from $200 for a state event to $600 for an interna onal event. Local spor ng champions cipa ng/ schools_and_juniors/local_spor ng_champions Is a Federal Government program which offers support to help young people travel to compete in state, na onal or interna onal spor ng championships. Health and physical ac vity grants vity-grants Provides funding of between $5,000 and $20,000 for local non-profit community groups who ac vely increase par cipa on in community sport, recrea on and physical ac vity in Brisbane. Community sports clubs grant -grant-program Provides funding of up to $10,000 for sports clubs. The program supports; community facili es upgrades, community facili es maintenance, and organisa onal development. Partnering for public netball courts program Provides financial assistance to community netball clubs to construct new, or upgrade exis ng netball facili es for community use.

4 Other grants Brisbane City Council Community Grants Brisbane City Council s grants provide funds for a range of non-profit community groups. The grants focus on; sport and recrea on facili es and services, crea vity and the arts, as well as historical, cultural and other events. Community support funding program Provides funding to community groups experiencing financial hardship, or to providers of affordable housing in Brisbane. Lord Mayor s suburban ini a ve fund a ve-fund Provides grants of between $250 and $10,000 for projects that contribute to the Brisbane Vision by helping achieve the aspira on to be a friendly, safe, ac ve and healthy, clean and green, or vibrant and crea ve city. Grant wri ng ps Leave plenty of me to get any quotes or le ers of support you may need, and to get your applica on finished and submi ed Make contact with the funding body to discuss your organisa on and your applica on Get someone who is not involved in your project to read the applica on and make sure it is clear and concise. Li er and illegal dumping community and industry partnership program er-illegal-dumpingpartnerships Aims to help community and industry stakeholders tackle these issues through ac vi es that change behaviour. Organisa ons can ask for up to $50,000 individually or $100,000 if part of a team. Men's Shed grants program These grants provide between $2,000 and $20,000 for Men s Shed programs throughout Brisbane. Community development and capacity building grants Provides between $2,000 and $10,000 for local not -for-profit groups that increase community iden ty and connec ons, increase social inclusion, build innova ve and effec ve responses to emerging community needs and social issues, and increase the skills, knowledge and understa ng within the community sector to respond to community issues Funding guidelines change constantly, new grants become available and old ones end.
