1 Walk-through of MindTap for Ellis, Becoming A Master Student, 15/e Welcome to MindTap! Students will find a variety of resources and learning opportunities available in MindTap including, Learning Outcomes Chapter Opener videos, Interactive ebook which includes inline video and activities, Master Student Profiles, Aplia Homework, and Reflection Activities. While not all of these activities are required, students are encouraged to explore these resources to gain greater understanding of the course content. For additional information about the activities that will be required, students should consult the course syllabus or reach out to the Instructor for additional guidance. MindTap is a fully online, highly personalized learning experience built upon authoritative Cengage Learning content. By combining readings, multimedia, activities, and assessments into a singular Learning Path, MindTap guides students through their course with ease and engagement. The information on the following pages is an overview and description of the core elements of MindTap for Becoming a Master Student, 15e by Ellis.

2 The MindTap HomePage: Learning Path & App Dock The MindTap Home Page includes the Learning Path and the App Dock. The Learning Path runs down the middle of the screen and consists of the ebook, homework, practice, and multimedia assets organized by chapter in a linear format that is easy to navigate. The App Dock is on the right of the screen and contains all general applications that enhance course functionality and content management. Learning Path within each chapter: Videos, Interactive Activities and MindTap Reader / ebook The Learning Path within each chapter contains the chapter ebook, multimedia, as well as homework and assignments. The Learning Path content is organized in a clean linear format that is easy to navigate. Choose a chapter to view all content and activities. Select the activity. Go back to the chapter learning path at any time by closing the activity. Go back to the complete Learning Path by clicking the arrow next to the chapter title.

3 Ebook / MindTap Reader App: Note taking & highlighting, audio text A key component of each chapter s Learning Path is the MindTap Reader ebook. The MindTap Reader is a fully interactive ebook that allows students to print, take notes and highlight, bookmark and adjust font size. Students can also have the book read aloud.

4 A comprehensive library of Learning Apps gives the students what they need to prepare for a course or exam all from a single place. My Notes App: MindApp Dock Date stamped notes and highlights captured in one spot. Captures and aggregates all of a student s reading assignment notes, highlights, and bookmarks by chapter, learning section and date. This results in a consolidated, single view of all the students annotations collected from all their individual reading assignments.

5 Read-Speaker App:. If students retain more information by hearing instead of reading, they can select a portion of the assignment and listen to it using the ReadSpeaker text to speech app. Highlight the text you want read aloud or click on the mouth to have the full page read aloud. Choose your voice and reading speed.

6 Search App: Search for page numbers, book content and your own notes. CengageNow: Provides additional student study material. These activities can be accessed through the app dock or within the Learning Path in the chapter readings.

7 Dictionary App: The Merriam-Webster dictionary app makes it easy for students to find definitions of new or unfamiliar words. In addition, a click on a word that appears in bold font delivers the definition via the same app. Full MindTap Reader / e-book: Three ways to click through the book o Flip to the next page using the gray arrow on the right hand side of the screen o Click on any of the headers on the first page of the chapter o Scroll through the chapter using the chapter search bar at the bottom of the page

8 Flashcard App: Students can create their own flashcards. View Progress App: Provides visual student progress within the course. The View Progress App archives grades and makes them easily available, keeping you apprised of personal progress.

9 Aplia App: Aplia activities can be accessed from the app dock or with each chapter s Learning Path. Aplia is an online interactive learning solution that improves comprehension and outcomes by increasing student effort and engagement. Aplia provides automatically graded assignments and contain detailed, immediate explanations on every question. 10 System Check: Verify browser settings by selecting System Check from the dropdown menu below your name. The system check quickly conducts a series of tests to ensure your system is properly set to run MindTap. Instructions are included when setting changes are required.
