This equipment includes radios, antennas, RF cables and surge arrestors. The remaining equipment should be procured locally to the extent that is possible. Although the outdoor wireless equipment for the public hotspots could be procured from the WiMax vendors, it is recommended to procure this equipment separately to avoid a restricted range of products. The document WiMax and Outdoor WiFi Suppliers in Europe includes a number of suitable products for outdoor modified WiFi access points. 2. Masts and poles All client WiMax equipment will be mounted in masts mounted on top of rooftops. WiFi equipment for the public hotspots can be mounted in the same towers if desirable coverage can be obtained. Otherwise, the WiFi equipment should be mounted in a separate wall mounted pole. There are two types of masts and poles needed. 2.1 WiMax Mast Requirements 1. Height: 10m 2. Model: Guy wired when possible (where enough space is available), otherwise, self standing. The tender should include quotes for both alternatives. 3. Properties: Good strength and low wind resistance as the masts will host narrow beam antennas.

4 4. Load: Alt 1: 1 radio unit with a max weight of 5kg and dimensions 300x300x100 mm Alt 2: 3 radio units with a max weight of 5kg/unit and dimensions 300x300x100 mm/unit. 5. Material: Galvanized steel or material with similar characteristics. 6. Mounting: flat rooftops 7. Other: Easy access for maintenance of equipment. 2.2 WiFi poles 1. Height: 5 m 2. Properties: Good strength and low wind resistance 3. Load: 2 radio units with a max weight of 5kg/unit and dimensions 300x300x100 mm/unit 4. Material: Galvanized steel or material with similar characteristics. 5. Mounting: wall 3. Outdoor Ethernet Outdoor Cat5e cable should be used for all outdoor installations and meet the following requirements: 1. Cat5e Bulk Cable Outdoor 2. UV resistant, waterproof jacket, gel filled core 3. Insulated conductor withstand extreme temperature 4. Meet TIA/EIA A CAT5e requirements Outdoor RJ45 connectors should be included (100pc).

5 4. UPS Two types of UPSs are needed. Type 1: Client site Minimum 500VA (300W) Type 2: Uplink/Central hub Minimum 2000VA (1400W) 5. Network Devices 5.1 Ethernet switches Two types of Ethernet switches are needed. Type 1: Client switch Ethernet switch with VLAN support (IEEE 802.1p/1Q/1D) Type 2: Central switch Layer 3 Ethernet switch with VLAN support (IEEE 802.1p/1Q/1D) 5.2 Router A small router is needed to set up a captive portal for the public hotspot so that traffic can be restricted to the Intranet only. A simple PC with two Ethernet interfaces is the minimum requirement.

6 6. Outdoor WiFi equipment The public hotspots will provide free access to e Government services on the Intranet. Hence, no billing system is needed, only a captive portal that prohibits access to the Internet. The WiFi equipment should meet the following requirements 1. Standard: IEEE a/g 2. Casing: Ruggadized 3. Radios: 1 or more. 4. EIRP: 4W with internal antenna 5. External antenna: Yes 6. Capacity: Minimum of 100 clients 7. QoS: Capability to limit bandwidth per client 8. Other: Mechanism to avoid hidden nodes. 7.
