9 Adviser Service Fee options explained OneAnswer Frontier provides a range of Adviser Service Fee options to provide more flexibility for your business cash flow, and to suit a range of client service models. One-off Adviser Service Fee (ASF) This fee can be charged when making an initial or additional investment, or at any point in time. Can be paid as a fixed dollar amount, a percentage of the investment or as a percentage of the account balance. Can be deducted from one fund or across all funds. Example One-off ASF at initial/additional investment Assume a $100,000 investment with a One-off ASF of 1% or $1,000 of the investment amount. The new investment transaction will be processed first with the ASF transaction processed next. These transactions will occur on the same day with the same unit price. $1,000 will be deducted from one fund or across all funds. Example One-off at any point in time Assume a One-off ASF of 2% or $2,000 is charged on an existing $100,000 account. $2,000 will be deducted from one fund or across all funds. Ongoing ASF This fee is charged monthly on an ongoing basis. Can be paid as a fixed dollar amount or as a percentage of the account balance. Can be deducted from one fund or across all funds. Example Assume a $100,000 account balance with a 2% p.a. Ongoing ASF. The amount deducted from the account would be $2,000 or $ per month - deducted from one fund or across all funds. Deferred Adviser Service Fee (DASF) A DASF is for advisers that do not want to charge an up-front fee but still require an up-front payment. A DASF can be selected on an initial investment or any additional investment The DASF deducted from the account is 1% of the investment amount each year, over the agreed term. Note that the amount does not vary over the term The amount paid to the adviser is dependent on the term selected. DASF over the short term Selected Term Amount paid to financial adviser 1% p.a. over the term 1 Year 0.75% 2 Years 1.50% 3 Years 2.25% 4 Years 3.00% Example 1 Assume a new business application of $100,000, with a DASF selected over 4 years. The adviser receives up-front payment at the time of the investment of 3.00% or $3,000. The client s DASF is: $100,000 x 1% x 4 (years) = $4,000 or $250 per quarter. Example 2 Assume an additional investment of $10,000, with a DASF selected over 3 years. The adviser receives up-front payment at the time of the investment of 2.50% or $225. The client s DASF is: $10,000 x 1% x 3 (years) = $300 or $25 per quarter The formula to work out the total DASF over the term is: DASF = investment amount x 1% x term The DASF is deducted from one fund or across all funds quarterly. If the client withdraws their investment before finalising the payment of the DASF, the outstanding amount owed will be recouped from the adviser. 7
