Please feel free to use any resources to tell the story including the wooden figures in the Kids Bizz room. Activity time - Children are able to do either craft, playdough, puzzles, drawing or reading during this time.
2 Christmas Lesson 49 Worship We believe in and value worship at Northridge. After the first bracket of worship the children all meet in the kids area and sing a few songs together. We have a desire to see the children at Northridge learning about and engaging in worship. We would love if you could help us by joining in and encouraging the children to join in also. Please ensure we are being positive role models for the children during this time, If you need to talk to someone, please do not do it in this space. Welcome Welcome everyone! Then go around the circle and ask everyone to tell you about something fun that they did this week. Ask if anyone can remember last week s memory verse it was God sent His son, King Jesus! (give a snake to anyone who can remember) Review Questions: Who was the story about today? What animal did mary ride on today? Where was Jesus born and why was it there? Key words:: God sent His son, King Jesus! Key words Suggestion: Wrap up: Have a leader or helper close in prayer Make sure kids take their craft and a memory verse card at the end of the lesson Please ensure that they are signed out by a parent or guardian before they leave the room. (With ac ons point up for God, lower hands downwards for sent, rocks arms like holding a baby for His son, and pretend to put on a crown for King Jesus. Ask the children did God send a pop star / a teddy bear/ a doll, etc at Christmas? No! God sent His son King Jesus. Bless you
3 Story Please note: that you will need to provide all the things for these Story activities! 1. Peek-a-boo Tubs Get a selec on of objects that are related to the story an put them in li le tubs, to open with the children. As today s story is about Jesus Birthday, In one box put a birthday card, wri en to Jesus. In another put a party hat. In another put a cupcake. In the last box, put a candle for the cupcake. Wow look at all these different things. They remind us that soon it will be Jesus birthday. We have birthdays to celebrate the day we were born. 2. Story Sack Bible: Who knows what this special book is? Yes! It s the bible and today we are going to think about what the bible says about the very first Christmas, when Jesus was born. Mary and Joseph figures / puppets / pictures: Look at these people. They are called Mary and Joseph. Mary is going to have a baby soon. Donkey (Hobby horse or mask): Do you know what this animal is? It s a donkey! Mary had to ride on a donkey. They were going to the town where Joseph s family lived. But oh no! They had nowhere to stay! Door picture: They knocked on the doors. Can you help me knock? But everyone said, Sorry, no room! Oh dear! I wonder where the baby can be born? Stable (from farm set / picture): Who knows what this is? It s a stable where animals live. One man said that Mary and Joseph could stay in his stable un l their baby was born. Baby Doll: That night the baby was born. He was a very special baby. He was God s son and his name was Jesus. Birthday cake: We are so happy that Jesus was born. We have Christmas to remember Jesus was born. Christmas is Jesus birthday! Happy Birthday Jesus! 3. Key Phrase Can you copy me when I say this? God sent his son, King Jesus! (use ac ons). Those are our special words today. Let s say that together. God sent his son, King Jesus! Let s say it in our loud voices. God sent his son, King Jesus! Now let s say it in our quiet voices. God sent his son, King Jesus! A er this you may like to read the story from the children's Bible if you feel it would be helpful! 6 Stop Prayer Time The following is the structure for leading prayer in Gap. This has been designed to be simple for the children and offer a consistent structure for both children and leaders. Posters with these pictures are available in the Gap room. Lay them in the middle of the circle one at a time as you do each stage so they understand which part we are up to. Ask children to stop everything else and sit on a cross. Explain that it is now time to pray. Please encourage the children to sit up and pray in loud voices. Talk Ask if there is anything they would like to thank God for or ask God. Give each child an opportunity to answer and then pray. If they are wanting prayer for healing ask them to sit in the middle and get the group to pray for them. Listen Now that we have talked to God we will stop and listen to see if there is something that he would like to tell us explain that this may be a picture, word, thought, person, colour, idea etc. God will speak to us all differently. Wait a minute for them to listen, then ask each of them if they had anything. It is fine if they say no just move on to the next child. For anyone who says yes please record what they say in the Gap Prayer journal with their name the date and service time. (prayer journal is a yellow book at the front of the room)
