1 Cleaning Service Specification Cambridge/Chelmsford/Peterborough DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE Availability of Service 5 am to 9.00 am (core cleaning) Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 6.00 pm (reactive cleaning) Monday to Friday 5.00 am to 9.00am (core cleaning) Saturday & Sunday Library (Cambridge and Chelmsford) and Gymnasium (Chelmsford) Services are available at other times and weekends by request and are charged at current rates. Client Responsibility To ensure that buildings are kept in a manner that allows cleaning to be carried out. To notify Estates & Facilities Services of; any changes in usage special events special requirements

2 CLEANING SERVICE STANDARDS The expected standard after cleaning and waste collection: Office Space / Corridors / Staircases / Landings / Balustrades / Lobby / Lifts / Entrances / Sports Hall / Gymnasium All surfaces should be free from removable dust. All internal office / lobby glass windows to be clean and free from build-up, body fats, dirt, dust, smudges, finger prints & stains. All fixtures and fittings should be free from dust, dirt and debris. Floor should be free from dust and debris. All waste receptacles empty and clean. Washrooms / Toilets / Showers All surfaces should be free from removable dust. All fixtures and fittings should be free from dust, dirt and debris. All sanitary fittings must be smear free, free from grime, dirt and dust. There should be no scale on sanitary fittings. Mirrors should be clean and smear free. Floors should be clean and free from dust and debris. Consumable items replenished. Waste Management We use black and clear plastic bags for waste disposal. General and recyclable waste is collected daily from offices, lecture theatres and skills laboratories by cleaning staff. As a matter of safety for the cleaning staff, it should be assumed that anything NOT in a waste container is NOT for disposal and should NOT be removed from the area Laboratory Furniture Due to the nature of the work performed in these rooms, no polish is to be used on laboratory cupboards or benches.
