1 World History: PowerPoint and Oral Presentation Project- THIS PROJECT WILL COUNT FOR THREE MAJOR ASSESSMENT GRADES; DUE Objectives: Students will summarize the remaining periods of World History from the French Revolution (1789) to World War II (1945) by using their World History textbook, outside book resources, and Discus. Direction: Students will design a PowerPoint slideshow, an oral presentation, and write a 2- page paper on their assigned chapter section. PowerPoint Presentation (1 TEST GRADE) - should include the following; 5-8 slides that highlight the following questions: 1. What major historical events took place in your sections? 2. What major social, economic, cultural, or military events took place? 3. What time period does your section highlight? 4. Where is your section focused? 5. Why are these events important to your study of World History? 6. Summarize major historical figures and people in the section? MUST INCLUDE PICTURES, CLIP ART, AND MAPS THAT RELATE TO YOUR SECTION. Oral Presentations (1 TEST GRADE) must be well rehearsed, and be between 5-8 mins; students who present less than 5 or go longer that 8 mins; will have points deducted. Student must also provide Mr. Dukes with THREE MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST Questions based off YOUR presentation. Formal Paper (1 TEST GRADE) - should be a 2- page paper, that must be 12pt font, Times New Roman, single spaced, typed: answering the following questions: 1. Summarize the historical events in your section. 2. Discuss major social, economic, cultural, or military events that took place. 3. Explain the importance of these events on your study of World History. 4. Discuss major historical figures and people in your section. STUDENTS MUST USE AT LEAST ONE OUTSIDE BOOK OR DISCUS SOURCE TO SUPPORT THEIR PAPER. SOURCES MUST INCLUDE MLA CITATIONS I have reviewed the requirements for this project, and fully understand the expectations for this assignment. It is easy to anticipate the type of material that might be on the next card. Use of Graphics All graphics are attractive (size and colors) and support the theme/content of the presentation. Effectiveness Project includes all material needed to gain a comfortable the topic. It is a highly effective study guide. Most of the content is accurate but there is one piece of information that might be inaccurate. Most information is organized in a clear, logical way. One card or item of information seems out of place. A few graphics are not attractive but all support the theme/content of the presentation.
