Classworks Integrated Reading Increases Reading Achievement! Classworks The Way to Go Up In Your Reading Our middle school students have been using Classworks for about six months in reading. The capability of the program to test students and then create an individualized learning path for each one of them is amazing. Simultaneously, Classworks has allowed the classroom teacher to differentiate for her students while filling in the gaps missed in reading along their learning paths. These students have increased their individual reading levels by one, two, and three years just from using this program for six months. (FYI- This is the only instructional tool that we have changed in their English Language Arts class.) We feel that we owe these stellar improvements to our dedicated students and their use of Classworks. Thank you, Classworks, for helping improve the independent reading levels of our students! Mary J. Gregory, Curriculum Coach Moncure School, NC
Gamify Your Classroom with Classworks Badges! Classworks has changed the Success Factor for many of my students, and we cannot quit celebrating!! Students who struggle with academics and are barely recognized for academic achievements are getting celebrated! They are achieving academic success and are rising above the line each week! Each week students take a progress monitoring test. If their scores are above the Target Rate of Achievement Line, then they get to put their names on the Classworks All Stars chart in the hallway! They love knowing everyone else can see their name in lights as they pass. Students also keep track of how may badges they earn and are rewarded each time they earn a new badge! Finally, all students can be successful in math! Midway Bobcats <3 Classworks! Teri Davis, Math Interventionist Midway Elementary, SC
Classworks in the Lab and the Classroom to Meet Multiple Goals! I am new to Classworks this year, but have found many helpful ways to implement it. I have used Classworks to enhance my teaching in both small group and whole group settings. The school system purchased the program to use in a lab setting. It also greatly benefits my struggling students when used during intervention and small group. I have use Classworks on my SMART board in whole group reading and math. I have used my Mimio response clickers to have quick quizzes in science and social studies using the reading passages from Classworks. I think the uses of Classworks are limited only by your creativity in implementation. Students love it, and so do I! Christy Hackerott, 3rd Grade Teacher Moundville Elementary, AL
Classworks High-Quality Instruction Simplifies the Way I teach. Although my experience using Classworks has been short, it has been such a great addition to the classroom. It has simplified the way I teach, and is filled with high-quality instruction. I can differentiate my lessons quickly and easily, and it is a breeze for my students to use. Everything I need is built into Classworks. We expand our lessons everyday by doing a whole group activity within Classworks. I can also reteach the lesson within my small groups. I also enjoy the integrated reading lessons that have passages set up by standard. That made finding resources so much easier! Classworks has also changed my classroom when it comes to math lessons. We can use the math activities to create games as a whole group lesson. My students absolutely love math now. I enjoy using Classworks in the classroom, but was even more amazed when I learned it can be used outside of the classroom as well! Classworks can be used at home and parents love it! Instead of searching and printing up extra resources, this has made it way easier for me to assign extra resources. You can set up a customized plan for each student, and it tells you how they are progressing. Not only can this be used for math and reading, but it is also cross-curricular and can be used in any content area. My students have benefited tremendously from Classworks in this short period of time. They have extra practice mastering key skills in whole group, small group, and at home. My students have fun learning, and that makes them extra eager to succeed. I have also benefited, because it has made it easier for me to teach each standard and skill. Lessons are set up by the week and unit, which makes this site a breeze. This has changed the way I teach because now I feel like my lessons are more intriguing. I feel like I have become a better teacher in this short amount of time, and I feel more prepared because everything I need is all in one spot. I am glad I was introduced to Classworks, and I will share my experience with all my colleagues! Jalicia McCaskill, Teacher Moundville Elementary, AL
Classworks meets district s RtI needs with succesful implementation & training! Classworks is the key to the district consistency and success of the Sunflower County Consolidated School District RtI Program implementation. The Classworks Response to Intervention program enables student interventions to be goalfocused on specif ic targeted objectives, tracking student progress over time. From the diagnostic Universal Screeners to the Progress Monitoring CBM Probes, our teachers are able to consistently create individualized interventions for students in the tier process, meeting state requirements. Classworks provides not only the product, but the expertise of their support staff to provide their knowledge, experience, and mentoring skills to initiate best practices for our interventionists. After school consolidation, we made the decision to utilize Classworks as our main intervention tool to guide students through the process. It makes RtI tasks and guidelines more manageable for all involved across the district level. Student achievement is being greatly impacted by the interweaving of Classworks into the intervention system and the staff is top notch! Thanks Classworks for all of your support. Sunflower County Consolidated School District and Classworks is truly an RtI TEAM! Eva Stephens, District RtI Coordinator Sunflower County Consolidated, MS
Classworks Individualizes 5th Grade Math Instruction! Classworks is a great tool for teachers to utilize in their classrooms. I teach three 5th grade math classes, and I incorporate this program in my lesson plans in a variety of ways. One of the most important ways I use Classworks is to see where my students are performing and at what grade level they are currently working. If they are below target in any area, they are assigned a Universal Screener. From that, I am able to determine exactly where they have a gap in the learning process and where I need to begin intervention. With students that are on grade level, I am able to use Classworks as a tool to push them further in their own curriculum path. Another way that I integrate Classworks is as a tool to drive my planning. I can assign a quick pretest to determine how much time needs to be spent on a particular standard. If a majority of the students already have a good grasp on a concept, then I can reinforce it and move on to new concepts. And, for those students who do not have a good working knowledge of a concept this will also allow me the opportunity to reteach the skill in small group. On the other hand, I can also assign a posttest to determine if the material I taught was learned completely before moving on. Most of the time all of my students reach the next grade level before leaving 5th grade, and I usually have a group that is at least two grade levels ahead. Classworks is a stimulating educational tool that allows each student the opportunity to work on their own level and at their own pace. Rosalind Cuevas, 5th Grade Teacher DeLisle Elementary School, MS
Classwork Alerts Help Teachers Do What They Do Best - Teach! Through my classroom s use of Classworks, I found that students did not understand the importance of their assignments. Students thought of their time on the computers as a time for them to play and have fun. Students were not showing mastery of the lessons and activities and I had no idea how to hold them accountable. Last week, our school received professional development on Classworks. Through the training, I found that each time a student does not master a skill, teachers are notified by a simple alert a red blinking envelope. I have found it to be an effective way to manage student mastery and hold each student accountable for their work on Classworks. Students are now aware I receive a notification for each assignment they do not master. With a few simple clicks, I can reassign their work for them to try again. Thanks, Classworks, for helping me see the red light of the alerts! Jessica Busick, 1st Grade Teacher Lockard Elementary, MS
Classworks Game-Based Learning in the Laptop Lab! In our laptop lab at Eufaula Elementary, our 3rd through 5th grade students have the opportunity to use Classworks. The homeroom teacher assigns lessons correlating with curriculum being taught in the classroom. Students are enthusiastic about the variety of methods used by Classworks. The boys and girls love the games! It makes learning fun. The aspect of individualizing assignments is immeasurable. A class of 25 may be working on as many different activities. Thank you, Classworks, for allowing our children to be successful! Suzann Tibbs, Computer Lab Assistant Eufala Elementary, AL
Classworks For Instruction, Assessment & Digital Tools! Classworks has been a great asset to our school. As an educator, you know that all students learn differently. Classworks allows technology to get personal by using differentiated instruction and /or ILPs. It helps to get the students more excited about learning, because it creates a path specifically for their needs and capabilities. This in turn allowed our students to learn at a different pace. Technology is more effective if it is used with enhancements. The animation and interactive technology provided in the instruction makes learning fun for our students and even more exciting. The assessments provided by Classworks helps to get a general idea about where our students are, as opposed to where they should be. We give the Benchmark Assessment three times a year to ensure they are on the right track to success, throughout the school year. Classworks is a wonderful tool for our RTI team. The Curriculum Based Measurements gives us an accurate measure of where the students need to be, and also provides great documentation for parent-teacher conferences. Integrating Classworks into our district was a great idea. The most phenomenal attribute, is that it is aligned to our Common Core Curriculum and State Standards! Andrea Cobb, Lab Manager Joyner Elementary, MS
Join the Lockard Elementary Classworks Club! My students love to come to the Computer Lab to work on Classworks. When they come in they know to get their login cards and go to the computers and login. They do so well helping each other login in and getting on their assignments. For the students to take ownership, we are using several different motivational strategies. This year, Lockard Elementary started the Classworks Club for the top 3 students in each grade level (k-2) in Reading and Math. The students with the highest amount of time on task with at least 70% mastery are allowed to join. All of the students want to be in the Classworks Club and have their picture on the bulletin board outside the lab, so everyone strives to work hard and do their best on every assignment. I also reward my students with HAPPY DOTS (skittles) when they win a trophy or badge for an assignment. Students access their scores and enjoy seeing how their avatar changes. Because of the incentives we are using to promote Classworks academic excellence, the students are receiving a colorful Happy Dot learning experience plus we enjoy being in the daily Classworks TOP 100! Haley Harrell, Computer Teacher Lockard Elementary, MS
Classwork Uses Assessment to Drive Instruction - Yours or Ours! Classworks is an important part of my students daily curriculum. I use the data from Classworks to create reading and math graphs indicating my class goals and targets throughout the year. Teachers, students, administrators, and parents are able to view my graphs and see the progress my students are making in the classroom. We use the correlation between Classworks and STAR assessments to track students progress and to drive instruction. I have found the data from the Classworks reports to be very beneficial as well. Classworks differentiates lessons for my students, as well as reinforcing skills and providing remediation. My classroom is so fortunate to have Classworks! Krystaline Sample, Teacher Lockard Elementary, MS
Classworks has changed the way I approach teaching... My school system recently started using the Classworks program. I have found it to be very beneficial to my second grade students. My students use the program for small groups/center time, and we use it as a class during whole group instruction. When using for whole group instruction, I turn the activities/skill builders into a competition between the students to make it a game. Students get very excited about the game and this makes them want to learn/participate. The Classworks program has changed the way I approach teaching certain skills. The program offers lots of interactive activities for my students, including the new Integrated Reading passages. The passages present on-level, rigorous reading which my students need. The student tools, like highlighting, notes, and dictionary are great resources for my students and a couple of those tools help me assess their learning. Finally, the Integrated Reading fluency has given me additional resources to send home with some of my struggling students. Their fluency has increased due to the extra resources being provided by your program! Overall, Classworks has been an excellent addition to our school and especially my classroom. Jessica Liverman, 2nd Grade Teacher Moundville Elementary, AL
Classworks helps teachers close the achievement gap! Classworks is an amazing program! My wonderful class of tier 2 and 3 students is showing growth. The students are enjoying themselves while they are exceling in common core standards. Kids are taking over and learning more than ever before. Over the past 3 months, students have worked with Classworks to help broaden their learning skills, while each student receives the intervention they need. Whether it is remediation or advancement, this program offers teachers a tool with just the click of a mouse. Each student has thirty minutes a day to receive special assistance in language arts and mathematics. Our students are exceling to all kinds of levels because they are privileged to have their own learning paths to excel and grow in many ways; it s personalized for them! Teachers can choose skills that students need assistance with as well. With this program, we are working harder than ever to close the gap! Michelle Yarbrough, 3rd Grade Teacher Dyersburg Intermediate, TN
Classwork promotes literacy through technology! Classworks has been a great tool used to promote literacy through technology in my classroom. I can project mini-lessons that are designed specifically for concepts and objectives we are using in the classroom onto the screen and students can learn interactively. Along with student leveled literature, the lessons provide fun and interactive games that make learning enjoyable. The benefits of using Classworks is not only to improve state testing scores by improving the literacy of my students, but also to enhance and improve reading skills needed for success in student s daily lives in an exciting and novel way. This program helps students develop reading skills through a variety of visuals and contexts, develops an interest in reading, and promotes student attention and focus. Kelli Hauser, 6th Grade Reading Teacher McMath Middle School, TX
