1 Using WebAccess with Windows Server June Using WebAccess on Windows Server 2008requires Software Build or later (June or later). Enable IIS (Internet Information Service) before installing Project Node software! IIS is the web server in Windows. IIS must be enabled before installing the Project Node software to allow WebAccess files to be installed properly. IIS is disabled by default in Windows Server For those of you who wish to use WebAccess Project Node on Windows Server 2008, please enable IIS on your project nodes first with following IIS features turned on before installing WebAccess Project Node software. To enable IIS in Windows Server 2008 Standard edition: 1. Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and Features 2. On the left Side Bar select Turn Windows features on or off

2 3. Wait for Server Roles dialog box to open and fill, then expand Internet Information Services. 4. Select Roles. 5. Select Add Roles. 6. Wait for the Add Roles Wizard to open.

3 7. Select Server Roles. 8. Select Web Server (IIS). 9. You may get a dialog box requesting your add additional features. Select Add Required Features. 10. In the Add Roles Wizard, check the following features in IIS:

Select Install. HTTP Error Not Found You will get this error if you installed WebAccess Project Node software before enabling IIS or without the required options in IIS enabled. Ensure all the IIS options are enabled as described above and then reinstall Project Node or Project and SCADA node software.

9 Sending of Alarms and reports using Windows Server The use of a remote SMTP Server is required in Windows Server 2008 if sending of alarms, reports, etc. Previously, WebAccess required an SMTP service to be installed on the project node or use of an SMTP Server that allowed relay by the project node. However, the STMP service is, in general, not available on various versions of Windows Vista. We decided to rewrite our program not to rely on the SMTP service on the project node in order to support all Vista installations. Account Login has been added to SMTP Server configuration in SCADA Node properties. Previously WebAccess used the SMTP Server on the Project Node or a remote SMTP server that authorized relay by the Project Node. The current release now adds another option: to log in to a remote SMTP server using a username and password. To use a remote SMTP server with a user name and password to authorize a connection (required for Windows Server 2008), the Outgoing (SMTP) Server information in Node Property page should be configured like this (the new way, use remote SMTP server): Outgoing (SMTP) Server mail.broadwin.com Port 0 Address Account Name bwnewuser@broadwin.com bwnewuser@broadwin.com Password ***** From bwnewuser@broadwin.com We encourage our users to use this new approach to send outgoing . This new option to send outgoing via a remote SMTP server is mandatory for Windows Vista and Server 2008 (it is recommended and optional for Windows XP/2000). This new method allows the use of any account, even a personal account with an ISP.
