3 1. Intrductin Lepide Exchange Reprter delivers cmplete tracking f mail flw, resurce cnsumptin and mailbx size. It analyses and reprts n multiple servers cncurrently and prvides autmated scanning f lg files and Infrmatin Stres. This guide will help yu install, cnfigure and manage the slutin. If yu have any questins at any pint in the prcess, yu can cntact ur Supprt Team. The cntact details are mentined at the end f this dcument. 2. Micrsft Outlk shuld be installed n the hst cmputer where this sftware is t be used. 2. It is nt recmmended t install sftware n the system where Exchange server is installed. 3. Yu need t make sure that SQL Server must be installed in the system where the sftware is installed r in any ther system in the netwrk. 3. User Rights T install and wrk with Lepide Exchange Reprter, yu need t have apprpriate dmain rights and rights ver the system where it will be installed Lepide Sftware Pvt. Ltd. Page 4

5 3.1 Lcal System Rights The user shuld have the fllwing permissins n the lcal cmputer where the sftware is installed: Full access permissin n the drive in which Operating System is installed Read/Write permissins in the registry If the rights are nt assigned, then fllw the steps belw t assign these permissins. 1. G t Cntrl Panel and select User Accunts. 2. Select the user and select Change Accunt Type. 3. Make user an Administratr. 4. Click Save. NOTE: 1. Steps mentined abve may vary depending n the Windws versin installed n the system. 2. If the User Accunt des nt exist n the system, create a new User Accunt with Administrative rights. 3.2 Exchange Server Rights Required Rights fr Exchange Server 2000 and Exchange Server 2003 Fr Exchange 2000 and 2003, the user shuld be assigned Full Access permissins at Mailbx and Mailbx Stre level. Alternatively, Full Access permissins can be granted t the user at server level t give rights ver all the Mailbxes and Mailbx Stres in it. Fllw the steps belw t assign Full Access permissins at server level. 1. G t All Prgrams Micrsft Exchange System Manager. 2. Expand Servers nde. 3. Right-click n server and select Prperties. 4. G t Security tab. 5. Select Dmain Admins and Enterprise Admins grups frm the list and click Add. 6. Give all permissins by selecting all the checkbxes under Allw clumn. NOTE: Similarly, Mailbx rights can be assigned at Mailbx Stre level 2016 Lepide Sftware Pvt. Ltd. Page 5

6 3.2.2 Required Rights fr Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010 Fr Exchange 2007 and 2010, Full Access permissins shuld be assigned at the User level. Fllw these steps t assign these permissins, if nt assigned earlier. 1. Open Exchange Management Cnsle. 2. Expand Recipient Cnfiguratin. 3. Select Mailbx. 4. Right-click n the cncerned mailbx and select Manage Full Access Permissins. 5. Click Add t pen Select User r Grup dialg bx. 6. Add Dmain Admins and Enterprise Admins grups. 7. Click Manage. 8. Click Finish Prerequisites t view Public Flders f Exchange Server 2013 Fr Exchange 2013, yu may nt be able t view Public Flder Reprts even after successful server cnfiguratin. In rder t view public flder reprts n Exchange 2013, yu need t perfrm a few extra steps. 1. Lgin t Exchange Admin Center. 2. Click Public Flder frm the left pane. 3. Select Public Flders tab and select the public flder whse reprts yu wish t generate. 4. Chse Manage ptin and click Add. 5. Select Publishing Authr. 6. Nw, brwse the user accunt, which yu have prvided while cnfiguring Exchange Server. 7. Click Save. 4. Install Lepide Exchange Reprter T install Lepide Exchange Reprter, yu can dwnlad the installer file frm Please make sure yur cmputer meets the system requirements and the lgged n user has the required rights as discussed in the abve sectin Lepide Sftware Pvt. Ltd. Page 6

7 Extract the dwnladed file and run setup.exe t start the installatin. Yu have t fllw the nscreen instructins t install the sftware. The installatin prcedure is same as yu fllw t install ther general applicatins n Windws OS; still the cmmn steps are listed herein belw fr yur ready reference. 1. At the first step, yu have t click "Next". 2. The next step shws the license agreement. It is recmmended t read the license agreement carefully befre installing the sftware. 3. If yu agree t the license agreement and want t cntinue the installatin, then check "I accept the agreement" and click "Next". 4. It displays the installatin lcatin and lets yu mdify it. NOTE: The default destinatin is %PrgramFiles%\Lepide Exchange Reprter fr 32-bit and %PrgramFiles(x86)%\Lepide Exchange Reprter fr 64-bit Windws OS. 5. If yu want t mdify the installatin lcatin, then click "Brwse" and select the desired lcatin. 6. Click "Next" nce yu are dne. At the next step, yu can custmize the lcatin f the shrtcuts flder in the Start Menu. 7. Click "Brwse" and select a different lcatin t mdify the lcatin f the shrtcuts flder in the Start Menu. 8. Click "Next" t use the default r custmized shrtcuts flder. It takes yu t the next step, where yu can perfrm the additinal tasks like creating a desktp and quick launch icn. 9. Check the bxes titled "Create a desktp icn", r "Create a Quick Launch icn", r bth, if required. 10. Click "Next. Nw, the sftware is ready t be installed. 11. Click "Install" t begin the installatin. When the installatin prcess is cmpleted, a message fr successful installatin appears in the wizard. 12. Click Finish t cmplete the prcess. It clses the installatin wizard and launch the sftware if yu have checked "Launch Lepide Exchange Reprter" ptin Lepide Sftware Pvt. Ltd. Page 7

8 Figure 1: Welcme Screen 5. Dmain Cnfiguratin The first step after the installatin is t cnfigure the dmain, where Exchange Server is installed Lepide Sftware Pvt. Ltd. Page 8

9 Figure 2: Cnfigure the dmain Yu can select Current Accunt if yu are lgged in with a user, which has the required rights. Else, yu can select Specific Accunt t enter the name and passwrd f such a user. NOTE: The selected user shuld be a member f Administratrs, Dmain Admins, Grup Plicy Creatr Owners, Enterprise Admins, and Schema Admins t enable the autmatic auditing f schema and dmain cnfiguratin by the sftware. Fllw the steps belw t prvide the rights mentined abve: 1. G t Administrative Tls. 2. Open Active Directry Users and Cmputers. 3. Select User Prperties. 4. G t Member Of Add Grup. 5. Select the fllwing grups as per the abve requirements. (a) Administratrs (c) Grup Plicy Creatr Owners (b) Dmain Admins (d) Enterprise Admins (e) Schema Admins 6. 10 6. Exchange Cnfiguratin At the secnd page, yu have t add Exchange server. Figure 3: Exchange Cnfiguratin All Exchange Servers in the dmain are autmatically enlisted in the drp-dwn. Yu can select nly ne server at a time. T add mre server, yu have t run Add Server wizard again. Exchange User Accunt, which yu prvide here, must have required Mailbx rights. Click the fllwing links t view the required rights and the steps t assign them. 11 7. SQL Server Cnfiguratin In the next step, yu need t prvide SQL server and the database infrmatin. Fllw the steps belw. 1. All SQL servers in the dmain are enlisted in Server Name drpdwn menu. 2. Select a SQL server frm the list r type its name. 3. Yu can chse either Windws Authenticatin r SQL Server Authenticatin. If yu chse Windws authenticatin, lgin credentials f the currently lgged n User n the system where sftware is installed will be used. Enter the lgin credentials f a SQL user, if yu have selected SQL Server Authenticatin. 4. Yu can either type the name f new database r select an existing database frm the drp-dwn menu. 12 8. File Lcatin In the next step, yu have t prvide the paths f Message Tracking Lg and IIS Lg. These fields are autppulated, but in case the files are stred at sme ther lcatin, use Brwse buttn t prvide the crrect lcatin. These lg files are required t generate flw and OWA reprts. Infrmatin Stre(s) path is displayed in the bttm sectin. Click Finish t cmplete the wizard. If IIS Lgs are nt scanned, the please refer t Sectin 9: Enable IIS Lg Scanning fr the steps t fix this issue. 13 9. Enable IIS Lg Scanning Different Windws Operating Systems have different IIS cmpnent features, which are t be enabled fr IIS lg scanning. In this sectin, the steps t install the IIS cmpnents n different Windws Operating Systems are listed. Once installed, the IIS lg scanning is enabled. 9.1 Install IIS Cmpnents n Windws 7 and Windws 8 1. G t Start menu Cntrl Panel Prgrams and Features. 2. Click Turn Windws Feature On r Off. Windws Features dialg bx appears. 3. Expand Internet Infrmatin Services. 4. Select Web Management Tls and Wrld Wide Web Services. 5. Click OK t install these features. 14 9.2 Install IIS Cmpnents Windws Server 2008, Windws Server 2008 R2, and Windws Server G t Start menu All Prgrams Administrative Tls ; click Server Manager. 2. G t Rles and click Add Rles t access its wizard. 3. Click Next at the first page. Server Rles page appears. 4. Check Web Server (IIS) bx if it is nt installed. 5. Click Next twice. 6. Select Management Tls. 7. Expand Web Server and check Health and Diagnstics. 8. Click Next t prceed. 9. Click Install t start the installatin. 10. 15 10. Scan Server Nw that the entire initial cnfiguratin has been dne, yu need t scan the Exchange server t get its lgs in the applicatin's SQL server database befre yu can generate reprts. Servers can be scanned manually r scheduled fr aut-scan; since we are ging t scan it fr the first time; we will perfrm a full manual scan. 1. G t Menu Tls Scan Server ptin. 2. Scan Wizard pens up. 3. Click Scan Nw t access its wizard. Figure 8: Starting Manual Scan 4. Click Next. In the next screen, prvide a scan name and descriptin. 5. In Scan Categry drpdwn menu, select the categry f the scan. 6. If yu select Default, then all fur types f lgs - Message Tracking Lgs, IIS lgs, Infrmatin Stre and Mailbx infrmatin will be cllected. Else, yu can g fr any f the individual lgs by selecting the crrespnding checkbxes. T generate all the reprts, we will chse Default ptin. 7. In Scan Type, yu can select any f the fllwing ptins. a. Full Scan: Select this ptin t cllect all the available data frm the lg files Lepide Sftware Pvt. Ltd. Page 15

16 b. Incremental Scan: Select this ptin t cllect thse lgs, which are newly generated, after the last full scan. c. Last 30 days: Select this ptin t cllect the lgs f nly last 30 days. d. Custm date: Select this ptin t cllect the lgs f a custm perid. Yu have t prvide the values fr Start Date and End Date fr this ptin. 8. Once dne, click Finish t start the scan. After the server scan is cmpleted, yu can g t Dashbard, Reprts and Mailbx Flder views t see the reprts. 11. Mail Server Settings Yu need t cnfigure Mail server fr sending Scheduled Reprts frm sftware. This setting needs t be cnfigured nly nce after sftware installatin. Yu can change the settings later if yu want t use anther Server as yur mail server. T perfrm mail server settings, click Mail Server Settings ptin in the left pane under Settings tab. Yu can view tw sectins under it in the right pane. 1. SMTP server: Prvide the hst name and SMTP prt infrmatin in the given fields. 2. SMTP Server Requires Authenticatin: Select the checkbx, if applicable, and prvide username and passwrd fr SMTP server in the given fields. Sme Exchange Server des nt require authenticatin, s yu have t uncheck this ptin fr them. 3. Enable Secure Scket Layer: Select the checkbx, if yur Exchange Server supprts cnnectin ver SSL. 4. Sender Address: Prvide sender's address. It will be used fr sending all the scheduled reprts. 5. Click Update t save the changes yu made in this sectin. It is recmmended t click Send Test buttn t test the mail server cnfiguratin Lepide Sftware Pvt. Ltd. Page 16

They will prvide yu the lgin credentials fr ur nline prtal, where yu can generate a License Activatin file t activate the sftware. NOTE: The license file will never expire. Yu can use this file frm any machine in the licensed Exchange envirnment Generate License Request File Yu need t fllw the steps belw fr generating a license request file. 1. G t Settings tab. 2. 18 3. A list f Exchange Servers added t sftware appears in the right panel. 4. Select the servers fr which yu want t generate the license. 5. Click Generate License. A license file is generated and saved n the desktp with name Lepide Exchange Reprter.ut. 6. Send this license file t ur Sales Team sales@lepide.cm Activate License Once yu receive the License Activatin file frm ur Sales Team, fllw the steps belw t activate the sftware. 1. Dwnlad the received license activatin file n the disk. 2. Click n Activate License buttn n the tlbar under Settings tab. 3. Activate License dialg bx appears. 19 13. Uninstall Lepide Exchange Reprter Befre uninstalling the slutin, please make sure t clse it. Fllw the steps belw t cmplete the uninstallatin: 1. There are tw ways t start the uninstallatin. a. G t Start All Prgrams "Lepide Exchange Reprter", click "Uninstall Lepide Exchange Reprter". b. Click Start Cntrl Panel. Its windw appears. Launch "Prgrams and Features". Select "Lepide Exchange Reprter" and click "Uninstall". 2. Fllwing any f the abve methds displays a warning message. 3. Click Yes t start the uninstallatin prcess. 4. Once uninstalled, the message bx cnfirming the successful uninstallatin appears nscreen. 5. Click OK t finish the prcess. After fllwing the abve steps, Lepide Exchange Reprter will be uninstalled successfully frm yur cmputer. By default, the sftware is cnfigured t retain the license file, and ther settings in the prgram installatin flder. T remve the remaining elements, delete its prgram installatin flder manually and then empty the Recycle Bin as well. %PrgramFiles%\Lepide Exchange Reprter fr 32-bit OS %PrgramFiles(x86)%\Lepide Exchange Reprter fr 64-bit OS Kindly d nt delete this flder if yu want t retain the license file, r have t reinstall the same/upgraded versin f the sftware. 14. Cnclusin By fllwing these steps, yu can easily cnfigure and use Lepide Exchange Reprter t view a multitude f reprts frm the Exchange Server.
