3 ABOUT DMT Since 1976, Diamond Machining Technology, Inc. (DMT ) has provided customers with precision sharpening tools manufactured with advanced technologies and high-quality engineering. The key to its diverse product lines is the hardest material known to mankind - DIAMONDS. Able to sharpen anything, DMT utilizes only monocrystalline diamond, the single crystal super-abrasive known for long life. Products available in the distinctive polka dot patterned products or new continuous diamond surface are used in industrial, commercial, and consumer markets around the world. DIAMOND GRIT SIZE COLOUR CODING X-COURSE Black - 60 micron mesh For aggressive removal of metal on damaged tools. Useful on garden tools, axes, lawnmowers, plane sole and water stones to flatten. DIAMOND, THE ULTIMATE ABRASIVE COURSE Blue - 45 micron mesh Rapidly hones cutting tools or restores an edge on a tool or blade. FINE Red - 25 micron mesh Ideal for putting a razor sharp edge on a blade that is regularly maintained. EXTRA-FINE Green - 9 micron mesh Polishes and refines the edges of fine knives and precision tools after they have been sharpened on courser grits. 1

4 HOW TO SHARPEN KNIFE SHARPENING KNIFE RECOMMENDATIONS: 6" or 8" Single Grit Diafold 1. Establish same angle as knife bevel with whetstone. 20 for most knives. Align sharpener flush with the bright bevel 2. Stroke smoothly towards the outside of the scissors. Repeat on the other half. Always sharpen the flat side, never the profile. Use water only. 2. Glide the bit with light pressure along the stone. Repeat same number of strokes on other wing. Usually only 5-30 strokes.
