3 .0 Introduction Photo books help turn your precious digital photos into magazine or book style photo albums, With photo books, digital photos can be placed on pages, in any position and used as a background picture even. You can design each page exactly as you d like it, adding text, background colours & designs, as well as effects. All the pages with your digital photos will then be printed and bound into a hardcover or softcover books. The Pixajoy Editor application is an easy to use program designed to help you create awesome photo books for your epic memories, and share them with friends and family for years to come. Pixajoy Editor is an application/sofware you download and save to your personal computer so you can work at your own pace. Once you have downloaded Pixajoy Editor from and install the updates available, you are ready to seriously have fun creating your precious book entirely on your own computer. This means you don t need to rely on your internet connection. You can create your photo book anywhere, any time! And it s FREE. Page3
4 2.0 Downloading & Installing Pixajoy Editor The first thing to do is go to the WEBSITE and select Download for PC or for MAC. Once you have selected which version suits your computer save it to your hard drive. Once the download is complete you will be presented with the installation wizard that will step your through the installation of Pixajoy Editor. After the installation is complete, an icon should appear on your desktop and Pixajoy Editor should also appear in the Start menu. To run the application, double click on the icon on your desktop or select the Pixajoy Editor from your Start Menu. You re now on your way to creating your awesome photo book. Page4
5 3.0 Updates Often when you open Pixajoy Editor while you ore online, Auto Update detects new items available for download. These items are updates in products and newly-added page styles, backgrounds, scrapbook & masks, as well as application data changes. Click Yes if you wish to update. You can select as many of the available boxes as you wish to update then click Install. The software will then start the updating process. The duration of updates depends on the number of files selected. You may need to restart your computer for the updates to take effect - a help box on your screen will give you these instructions if necessary. It is strongly advised that you install these updates so can make the most of your Pixajoy Editor. Also, we recommend that you check for updates each time you Create a New Project by clicking Check For Updates, just in case you miss the Auto Update. Page5
6 4.0 Let s Start Creating (using Wizard) 4.: Create A New Project First, open Pixajoy Editor. The welcome page will be shown as below. To create a new project, click the CREATE A NEW PROJECT icon. This will then launch a new window. Page6
7 4.2: Select Product Type Select a product category. 4.3: Select Product Type Choose the Product Type you want. Click the Picture > Next. Page7
8 4.4: Choose the Product and Size Select your preferred book and size from the Product List. Click the Picture > Next to start your project. 4.5: Adding Photos Click on the + icon to add photos to your project. Choose to add an entire folder of photos or individual photos from different folders. More fun! Add photos directly from Facebook or Flickr! The Photos will be loaded into the Picture Manager and are ready for use. You can continue to add images to your Picture Manager throughout the creation of your book. Page8
9 4.6: Setting Initial Page Count Now that you have added photos, Wizard will ask you to choose between Select Number of Pages and Select Pictures Per Page. Make your choice. 4.7: Select Page Background Select your page background design. You can always change the background design in the Editor Studio. Page9
10 4.8: Preview your design Preview your entire book. You can change the page style and add on scrapbook, mask and change the picture sequence in the Editor Studio. Click Next. 4.9: Name your Project Give your project a name before you go on to the Editor Studio. It is advised that you to do not move/rename or delete images that you're using to avoid missing picture Great Job! 11 5.0 Pixajoy Editor Tools Undo Undoes last change. 2. Redo Redoes the last change. 3. Save Shortcut to save the project. 4. Add Picture Box Place a square picture box. Select a photo you wish to use from the Picture Manager the left, drag the photo into the picture box. 5. Add Text Box Place a square text box. Double click the text box to type the text. You can change the properties of the text using the Inspector Panel on the right. Click on the box and hold down on the green circle to rotate or straighten the text box. 6. Auto Flow The Autoflow is great if you're in a hurry and if you already have all of your photos in the desired order in the Picture Manager. Autoflow automatically uses all of the images in the Picture Manager and flows them into your book using the page style provided at random. You can still go through the document manually and make any additional changes and adjustments to the layout. 7. Change Product Want to change book types? Click this button to change to a different book type in the middle of your project and make any necessary adjustments in the new book type layout. 8. Zoom Out (reduce) Zoom out of the page. Page
12 9.Zoom In Zoom in on the page. 0. Previous Page Takes you to the previous page.. Next Page Takes you to the next page. 2. Preview Click to preview your book in full screen. 3. Shopping Cart Click to proceed with your order. This will be covered later in the Guide. Page2
13 6.0 Editing Tips 6.: Page Styles 6.2: Fill In Photos Drag & drop your photo into the page style s box. i) Resizing Photo Drag the resize handles at any of the four corners of the object to resize your photo. ii) Rotating Photo Click on the green bullet at the slightly top left corner and drag your mouse to toggle the photo. Photo can be flipped vertically and horizontally as well. This feature can be found at the Inspector Panel on the right. Do explore the features and enjoy them! iii) Clear Photo Select photo, right click your mouse, select Clear. Page3
14 iv) Cropping Photo (i) Drag the side handle inward to crop your photo. Step : Step 2: Done vi) Cropping Photo (ii) Step : Select the photo and double click. Step 2 : Select click and drag the crop box over the area you want. Click OK. Step 3:Done. v) Straighten Horizon Straighten Horizon is an additional function with the crop photo function. Drag the slider to straighten a photo where the angle is tilted. You can also use it if you want a tilted effect for your photo. Page4
15 6.3 Masks Before After A : Drag & drop the mask on to a picture box or shape. Masks can be used to creatively hide or reveal sections of your photos. 6.4: Backgrounds Specially designed backgrounds just for you, to create beautiful and memorable books. A : Select the background and drag & drop it onto the page of your book. You can also use your pictures as backgrounds. B : Select the photo, drag & drop your photo onto the page. Right click your mouse, select Fit > Fit to Page *The resolution of the photo you want to use as background MUST BE AT LEAST 300dpi. This resolution will ensure that when your photo is printed, it will be clear and sharp. Page5
16 6.5: Frames Add frames to photos and make them pop. A : Click Add Picture Box. B : Drag & drop the photo inside the picture box. C: Drag & drop the Frame onto the photo. 6.6: Scrapbook Scrapbook stores a variety of clip art, which you can add to the pages of your book for some extra zing. A : Drag & drop the clip art onto the page, of your book. Page6
17 6.7: Add Text Box Click to add a new text box on the current page displayed in the design area. The text box can be rotated and you can format the text style using the functions displayed on the right. A : Click the add text box icon. Double click on it, to insert your desired wordings. 18 7.0 How to Use Pre-Designed Theme Templates Pre-Designed Theme Templates are complete, ready-made designs which Pixajoy has designed for you, categorised as themes. This will help you create your book faster and easier - you just need to drag & drop your photos into the ready-made layouts. All done in an hour! To use the Theme Templates you would first need to download them from our Website and install it to your Pixajoy Editor. Once installed here s what to do: A : Open Pixajoy Editor and click Open an Existing Project B : Select Pre-Designed Theme Templates and click Open. Page8
19 C : Select your desired Theme and click Open. D : Select your desired Book Type & Size and click Open. Point to Note : If you want to re-use the Pre-Designed Theme Templates for different projects in the future, please select Duplicate Project and give the Project a Name. This is so that the original files remain intact. Page9
20 E : Click + to import your photos to the Editor from your computer. F : Click on the Page thumbnail. G : Drag & drop your photos onto the ready-made layout. Page20
21 8.0: Placing Your Order So, now that you have clicked, inserted, editing and completed your Project, you are ready to place your order. 8.: Adding Your Order to Shopping Cart A : Click on the green Shopping Cart button to add your order to the Shopping Cart. Once you have clicked to make your order, a flight check will be triggered, to make sure the resolution of your photos and all the other elements in your book are good for to go for printing. If there are errors, please correct all the errors listed before proceeding with your order. Click on the individual error to obtain more information and how to correct it. Page2
22 9.0: Flight Check If the flight check only shows yellow error icons, you can cancel the order and return to the project to fix the problems or click OK to continue. If there are issues that remain unresolved, a window appears to ask if you wish to continue. It is very much recommended that you fix all errors before clicking OK to continue, to obtain the optimum printing result. However, if the flight check displays red error icons, the order cannot be placed until the problem is resolved. Red error message circumstances: - Missing Pictures Can occur if a picture s location has moved, or the picture has became incompatible or if the picture has been edited outside of Pixajoy Editor in such a way that its dimensions have changed. - Overflowing Text Missing Font Missing Mask Missing Application Or Product Scrapbook Picture / Background Missing Application Or Product Mask Yellow error message circumstances: - Empty Picture Box - Empty Page - Empty Text Box - Low Quality Picture - Low Quality Background Picture - Low Quality Background Mask - Low Quality Picture Mask - Low Quality Shape Mask To solve the problem, you can right-click the picture box and select the Update Picture Box option from the context menu. Alternatively, a different picture can be dropped into the picture box. Once you are happy to continue, you can follow the instructions and reach the order disclaimer. Page22
23 9.: Disclaimer You are required to accept the disclaimer before you are able to submit your order. You will require internet access to start the order process. Click Start 9.2: Sign In / Sign Up Once you click on Start, the window below appears. A : Sign in with your username and password. or : Sign up for membership if you don t have one. Choose a login name and password, and fill in the rest of the details. Click Sign Me Up once you complete the form. Page23
24 9.3: Order Details Once logged in, the order details page is displayed. Here, you can enter the quantity required and choose the paper option and cover type to be used. Once you are happy with your book options, click Continue A : Your can enter the quantity required. B : Change the paper option and cover type to be used. C : Click Continue *You are required to choose your cover colour at the following page. Page24
25 9.4 : Shipping / Billing Details On the next page, you will confirm the shipping address, billing address and the shipping method you wish to use. To change the shipping address, click Change and a new window opens so that you can change the address details. The shipping methods that are available to you are shown along with their respective cost. Choose the method you wish to use. Click Continue 9.5: Payment Details 9.6: Cover Colour If your are purchasing the Ruff n Tuff Debossd Hardcover photo book, you then required to choose your cover colour at this page. Page25
26 9.7: Payment Method / evoucher Code Choose which payment method you prefer, and confirm the order. Once your order is accepted, the order confirmation screen is displayed, along with your order number. Page26
27 This is also the page where you enter your evoucher Code (if you are using any discount / promotional code). > Click Apply after you ve entered the code. > Click Confirm Order to proceed. 9.8: Order Number You will given an order number after you have successfully made your payment. 9.9: Upload / Save Finished Pages The order is not complete until your book project has been uploaded. The software recognizes that the order has been accepted and will now show the options of uploading the project to Page27
28 Pixajoy Servers. Upload Finished Pages The completed project is encrypted and uploaded directly to Pixajoy Server... Speed Test to estimate the uploading time Save your project on your computer. The completed project is encrypted and saved locally so that it can be mailed to Pixajoy by CD/DVD The uploading duration will vary accordingly to Internet Service Provider and Data Plan. Click Continue to upload the pages. If you click the Cancel button, a prompt window will appear asking you to complete the order now, or complete later. If you select Complete Now, the software will continue to upload the order as normal. If you select Complete Later, you will be able to return to the software later, and continue to complete your order on your next return. If your book file size is too big to upload, you can choose Save Finished Pages and save your book file on a DVD / CD and post it to us. *Your book file MUST BE uploaded or mailed to us within 7 days of payment date. 9.0: Uploading A new window displays the progress of the upload.
