1 Outlook Web App Getting Started The Outlook Window In Office 365 Millsaps College Information Technology Services 1. Navigation Bar switch between Outlook, Calendar, People, and Tasks. 2. Navigation Pane contains shortcuts to Outlook folders and sections. 3. View Pane displays the contents of the selected folder. 4. Reading Pane displays the contents of the selected item. 5. Settings displays your settings. Signing In The login screen will appear when you access Outlook Web App through your web browser. To login please go to: 1. Enter your Millsaps address in the address box. 2. Enter your password in the Password box. 3. Select the Sign in button. Hiding the Navigation Pane To streamline your experience, you can minimize the Navigation pane to view your Outlook features in full screen. Select the Hide << button to hide the pane. Select Unhide >> to restore it. Using the Navigation Bar Outlook the main area allows you to read, compose, receive and send . Calendar - the scheduler, or planner, allows you to set and manage appointments and tasks. People contains your contact list to display names, addresses, social media updates and other information. Tasks the tasks list allows you to create and manage tasks. Note: if you are running Outlook Web App in Exchange 2013, Tasks will appear on your Navigation bar. If you running it in Office 365, it will appear in your Navigation pane.
2 Default Folders Inbox stores all received messages. Sent Items keeps a copy of all messages you have sent. Drafts stores any unfinished messages. Deleted Items contains any deleted messages. Junk stores items that have been filtered as spam. Notes contains notes imported from your desktop Outlook account. Note: You may see additional folder that haven added by Millsaps ITS network administrators. Creating a New Folder 1. In the Navigation pane, right click on Inbox 2. Select create a new folder from the drop down menu. 3. Enter a name for the folder in the test box. 4. Press the Enter key. The new folder will appear in your Inbox. Working with Folders 1. Right-click on the folder you wish to work with. 2. Do one of the following: To rename the folder, select Rename from the drop-down menu. Enter a new name in the text box and press the Enter key. To delete the folder, select delete from the drop-down menu. Select the button to confirm deletion. To delete all of the items in a folder, select Empty from the drop-down menu. Select the OK button to confirm deletion. To add the folder to your favorites, select add to Favorites form the drop-down menu. This folder will now appear in your Favorites. Searching in Outlook Web App 1. Enter your search keywords in the search mail and people box in the Outlook Screen. 2. Select the Search button or select or click on one of the suggested items. 3. Optional: Select an option in the sidebar to specify the time frame to search. 4. When you are finished, select the Close button to end your search and return to your Outlook screen. Sending an 1. In the Outlook screen, select the New Mail button. 2. Do one of the following: To enter recipients for your , enter addresses in the To: and Cc: boxes. (Separate multiple addresses with a semicolon.) To select addresses from your contacts, select the Add button. Begin typing the name of the of the contact in the To: box or select a contact or group you want to send the message to, click the OK button. Repeat to add additional contacts. To send a blind carbon copy, select the More button. Select show bcc. Enter the addresses of the contacts you wish to include.

Select check names from the drop-down menu to make sure that it is possible to send the message to the names or addresses you have entered. 4. Enter a subject in the Subject box. 5. Enter message text in the message space 6. Select the Send button. Note: If you start to enter an address that Outlook recognizes, either because it appears in your directory or because you have previously sent a message to that recipient, then Outlook will automatically complete the address for you. Press the Tab or Enter key to accept the address Outlook is suggesting. If more than one address appears, select the address from the resulting list. Continue typing to ignore the suggestion. Reading a Message 1. Select the Outlook shortcut in the Navigation bar. 2. In the View Pane, do one of the following: To view the message in the Reading pane, click the message once. To view the message in its own window, double-click the message. Note: To mark a message as read, click mark as read in the message space. To mark it again as unread, click mark as unread. Replying to a Message 1. Select the message to which you want to reply. 2. Do one of the following: To reply to the send only, select the Reply button. To reply to the sender and all recipients, select the Reply All button. 3. Enter reply test in the message text box. 4. Select the Send button when you are finished. Forwarding a Message 1. Select the message you want to forward. 2. Select the Forward button. 3. Enter recipient addresses in the To: box. 4. Optional: Enter message test in the message test space. 5. Select the Send button when you are finished. Other Topics: Drafts of a message are saved in your Drafts folder. To return to a draft: 1. Select the Drafts link on the Navigation pane to access your drafts. Select the draft you wish to edit and double click the message to continue editing. 2. Optional: Select Discard X to delete the draft.
4 Setting Message Importance 1. In the Outlook screen, select the New Mail button 2. Select the More button 3. Select set importance from the drop down menu, you may choose high, normal, or low. Categorizing Messages 1. Select the message you would like to categorize 2. Select the More button. 3. Select Categorize from the drop-down menu, you may choose a color to categorize. Flagging a Message 1. Select a message you want to flag in the View Pane. Select the Flag button and Right-click on the flag. Select a display time for the Reminder from the drop-down menu. Opening Attachments 1. Select the message once to view it in the Reading Pane. Select the attachment to open it. 2. Optional: to save the file, right-click on the file and select Save target As from the drop-down menu. Attaching a File to a Message 1. Select the Insert button. Select the file you wish to attach. Select the Open button and the Send button when you are finished. Printing a Message Extras 1. Select the message you want to print. 2. Select the More button and Print from the drop-down menu. Select Settings button From the drop-down menu, you can customize your display, change themes and under the Options selection you may add an account, organize , and create groups. You can block or allow users and update your own account information.
5 New Features for your Account People In outlook, Contacts has been replace by the People hub, a center for all your contact infomration. You can connect People to a social nework and import all of of your connections data and updates directly to Outlook. Getting Help Select Help in the drop-down menu.
