2 Summer Day Camp Program Information FBS Sunsational Summer Camp provides two fun-filled, action-packed summer day camp programs for children ages 3-4 and ages The preschool summer day camp is limited to 12 campers each session with a 6:1 camper/counselor ratio. There will always be an assistant present with this age group. The elementary summer day camp is limited to 30 campers each session with an 8:1 camper/counselor ratio. The FBS Sunsational Summer Camp is housed on the campus of the FBS Sports Complex located next to the Walmart on James Island (2051 George L. Griffith Boulevard Charleston, SC 29412). The campus includes a full-sized gymnasium, multipurpose room, spacious classroom (for preschool campers) and a fenced in sports field. Both programs operate from 9:00 AM 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Early morning (7:30-9:00 AM) and late afternoon (4:00 PM-5:30 PM) child-care is available at no additional cost. Due to field trips that are scheduled each day of the week, it is important that campers be at our center by 9:00 AM. The camp will not be responsible for providing transportation for late arriving campers to field trip destinations. Campers will begin and end each day on campus. The preschool camp room is located in a classroom behind the multi-purpose room. The elementary age group will operate from the multi-purpose room. Both groups are combined for early morning drop-off and late afternoon pick-up. Please initial

3 Campers will go on one field trip or participate in an in-house program to correlate with the theme of each session. Campers will also enjoy trips to county parks, the First Baptist Beach house and the community pool. Campers will be transported using FBS buses and will be driven by a FBS bus driver. Bus car seats will be provided for preschool campers. There will be times throughout the summer when there are age-segregated field trips, and times when all the campers will go on the same field trip. Our camp calendar lists the field trips planned for the summer. Preschool campers will not go to the swimming pool because there is no baby pool. They will stay oncampus and have outside water play. The safety of our campers is one of the key priorities of our program. During all activities, from field trips to on-campus activities, attention is placed on supervising the campers and insuring a safe environment. A roster of campers is prepared and reviewed for the bus on every field trip. First aid kits are housed on the bus and portable first aid kits are taken on all field trips. All staff members are CPR certified. Campers will begin each morning with a daily devotional and songs. Campers will be exposed to Bible stories and character building exercises throughout the summer. At the heart of our day camp is the recognition of God s love and creation and a desire to be a part of it. Campers are expected to exhibit acceptable, respectful behavior on and off-campus as well as on buses. Campers who do not respond to corrective behavioral measures and continue to engage in disruptive or unsafe behavior will not be allowed to participate in the day s activities. In certain circumstances, parents may be asked to remove the child from the program for the remainder of a day. In extreme situations, campers may be asked to leave the program for a specific period of time or the remainder of the summer. Please initial
